2021-2023 Jeep Wrangler/Gladiator Filiform Corrosion TSB

Mopar Warranty Bulletin D-25-15 Rev. A, issued on November 19, 2025, updates and clarifies the process for addressing Aluminum Filiform Corrosion on paint repairs and panel replacement for all FCA US LLC vehicles covered by an active corrosion warranty. This bulletin is effective for repairs opened on or after August 18, 2025. It supersedes previous bulletins D-22-17, D-23-04, and D-23-22.

This communication is a process change, not a coverage change, and aims to streamline the repair and claim process for Jeep Wrangler filiform corrosion and other affected FCA vehicles.

Understanding Aluminum Filiform Corrosion

Aluminum Filiform Corrosion appears as thread-like filaments under the paint surface, often originating from small defects. The bulletin categorizes corrosion concerns into two main types:

• Outside / Class A: Corrosion visible on the exterior of the vehicle, even when doors, hood, or tailgate are closed.
• Inside of Panel / Class B: Corrosion located on interior panels, only visible when doors, hood, or tailgate are open.

Vehicle Digital Imaging (VDI) Pre-Approval Process

The Vehicle Digital Imaging (VDI) pre-approval process is crucial for warranty claims related to aluminum filiform corrosion. It helps verify the nature of the corrosion and document the customer's concern.

• VDI Pre-Approval IS NOT required for outer surface corrosion on vehicles still under active corrosion warranty.
• VDI Pre-Approval IS required for any potential non-cosmetic repairs on inside panels that are not visible from the exterior when the door, hood, or tailgate is closed. This includes flaking or blemishes found on panel seams.

For VDI pre-approval, dealerships must submit clear photos of the affected area(s) and a photo of the VIN placard, which shows the VIN, paint code, and paint color. The VIN placard is typically located on the driver's door.

Important Warnings and Owner Considerations

Owners should be aware of specific instructions and conditions related to these repairs:

• Do NOT replace hinges on other doors if they show no signs of corrosion. For Jeep Wrangler (JL) and Gladiator (JT) vehicles, redesigned hinges must be replaced as a set (upper and lower per component) if corrosion is found on them. Pictures are required both with the hinge on for repair and showing pitting once the hinge has been removed for replacement.
• If a customer has valid documentation of their corrosion concern from before the corrosion warranty expired, they will generally not pay the customer participation amount generated by the Warranty Goodwill Grid.
• If a customer DOES NOT have valid documentation of their corrosion concern prior to the warranty expiration, they will need to participate with the repair costs as outlined by the Warranty Goodwill Grid.

Repair Procedure Summary

The bulletin provides a detailed decision tree for technicians to determine whether a corroded panel requires repair or replacement. This decision depends on the location and severity of the corrosion, including whether flaking is within a blemish or if there are holes. If pitting is found after sanding an affected area, replacement is typically required.

Detailed Labor Operation Codes (LOPs) are provided for various repair scenarios, including:

• Single-panel Repair LOPs: These cover repairs for individual components like front doors (e.g., LOP 23755302), rear doors, hoods, tailgates, and windshield frames.
• Single-panel Replace LOPs: These cover the replacement of individual components, such as front doors (e.g., LOP 23855311), rear doors, hoods, tailgates, and windshield frames.
• Multi-panel Repair LOPs: These combine several single-panel repair LOPs for scenarios involving multiple affected areas, such as hoods and front doors (e.g., LOP 2375MP01) or all doors.
• Multi-panel Replace LOPs: Similar to multi-panel repair, these combine single-panel replacement LOPs for extensive corrosion affecting multiple components.

The bulletin also references Collision Service Bulletin 31-001-25 REV. B for detailed repair procedures and related materials.

Warranty and Goodwill Coverage

For vehicles experiencing Jeep Wrangler filiform corrosion after the standard corrosion warranty expires but within the 6th year, the Warranty Goodwill Grid may apply. If a customer has valid documentation of the corrosion concern from when the warranty was active, the repair is likely to be completed without a copay. If no such documentation exists, the customer will be responsible for their portion of the repair cost as determined by the Goodwill Grid.

Non-Reimbursable Items

Certain items are not reimbursable under this warranty bulletin. These include, but are not limited to:

• Hazardous material disposal fee
• Shop supplies
• Pre and post scans
• Cleaning, waxing & sanitizing supplies
• Protective covers or storage bags
• Fitting/aligning panels
• Resetting electronics functions
• De-nib and polish
• Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery
• Upgraded anti-corrosion/paint protection
• Body shop administrative fees
• Towing and storage fees
• Additional labor, parts or services not supported by the Collision Service Bulletin

Owners should discuss these potential charges with their dealership before any repair work begins.
