Symptoms

Owners of affected 2022-2025 Jeep Compass vehicles equipped with the 1.3L I4 Turbo MAIR DI Engine w/ESS E100 (Sales Code EYJ) may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. In addition to the MIL, customers might report:

• Unstable idle
• Abnormal engine noise

These symptoms are often accompanied by specific Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored in the vehicle's computer.

Diagnosis

If the customer's reported symptoms match those described in the bulletin and a fuel injector leak is suspected, an endoscope inspection is performed. This involves removing the spark plugs and then using an endoscope to visually check each injector. During this check, a helper turns the ignition key to the ON position (without starting the vehicle) and holds it for one minute per injector to observe for leaks.

Repair Procedure Summary

If a fuel injector leak is confirmed, the repair involves replacing the defective fuel injector(s) and the high-pressure fuel tube. The number of injectors replaced depends on the diagnosis:

• If only one injector is defective, that injector and the high-pressure fuel tube are replaced.
• If two injectors are defective, those two injectors and the high-pressure fuel tube are replaced.
• If three or all four injectors are defective, all four injectors and the high-pressure fuel tube are replaced.

After replacing the necessary components, the technician will clear any stored DTCs. This TSB, 14-009-25 REV. C, supersedes TSB 14-009-25 REV. B, issued on November 08, 2025, and includes updated procedures and part numbers. After completing the TSB, it is not necessary to send DID-I or DID-A data.
