2025 Jeep Compass/Renegade Loose Seatback TSB

Symptoms

Owners of affected vehicles may notice a specific issue with the passenger front seat. The primary symptom is a "Loose seatback on passenger front seat." This condition indicates that the seatback is not securely fastened, potentially leading to discomfort or instability for the passenger.

Diagnosis

To determine if your vehicle is affected by the 2025 Jeep Compass loose seatback issue, dealers must check the vehicle's VIN against the VIP system or the Rapid Service Update (RSU) VIN list. This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 23-058-24, also released as RSU 24-165, applies to specific 2025 models.

For the 2025 Compass (M1, Brazil), this applies to vehicles built on January 18, 2024 (MDH 0118XX) equipped with the 1.3L I4 Turbo MAIR DI Engine W/ESS E100 (Sales Code EYJ). For the 2025 RAM Rampage (N4), it applies to vehicles built on March 21, 2024 (MDH 0321XX) with the 2.0L I4 DOHC DI Turbo Engine W/ESS (Sales Code EC1). The 2025 Jeep Renegade (B1) is affected if built on or after January 24, 2024 (MDH 0124XX) and on or before February 22, 2024 (MDH 0222XX), provided it has the 1.3L I4 Turbo MAIR DI Engine W/ESS E100 (Sales Code EYJ).

Repair Procedure Summary

Addressing the 2025 Jeep Compass loose seatback involves a straightforward process of tightening the passenger seatback fasteners. The procedure begins with disconnecting the battery negative terminal for safety. Next, the passenger seat must be removed from the vehicle. Technicians will refer to detailed service procedures in DealerCONNECT's Service Library under reference 7045A10 for seat removal and reinstallation.

For vehicles without a seat storage compartment, the repair involves removing a fastener on the outer back of the plastic cover (as shown in Fig. 1 of the TSB), then removing another fastener and the cover from the rear inner guide of the front seat (Fig. 2). Once the fasteners are accessible, the two seatback fasteners are tightened to a specification of 60 N·m (44.2 Ft lb.) in a specific sequence (Fig. 3). After tightening, the side cover is reinstalled, the seat is reinstalled, and the battery is reconnected.

For vehicles with a seat storage compartment, the initial steps are similar: disconnect the battery, remove the passenger seat (using DealerCONNECT procedure 7045A10), and remove a fastener on the outer back of the plastic cover (Fig. 4). Additional steps involve removing a fastener on the side of the plastic cover (Fig. 5) and carefully disengaging the cover from its anchor points by pulling it out from the rear, top, and front sections (Figs. 6, 7, 8). Finally, the two seatback fasteners are tightened to 60 N·m (44.2 Ft lb.) in the specified sequence (Fig. 9), followed by reinstallation of the side cover, seat, and reconnection of the battery.

This repair, identified by Labor Operation Number 23-13-36-9N and Failure Code ZZ, is estimated to take 0.4 hours of labor.
