Honda is not yet providing a repair procedure for this issue. Instead, the company is focusing on collecting data and physical components from vehicles exhibiting the problem. This proactive approach allows engineers to analyze the failed parts directly, which is crucial for determining the root cause and developing an effective, long-term solution. The information gathered will inform future service bulletins or potential recalls.

Qualifying Conditions for Parts Collection

For a vehicle to be considered for this parts collection program, it must meet several specific requirements. These conditions ensure that Honda collects data from vehicles that accurately represent the issue under investigation. Dealerships are instructed to verify these qualifiers rigorously.

Honda is interested ONLY if the vehicle meets the following criteria:

• The vehicle's manufactured date, as found on the driver's door jamb, must be AFTER December 2022.
• The rearview mirror BRACKET/SLUG MUST be loose or detached from the windshield. Dealerships are required to capture one photo of the loose or detached rearview mirror condition.
• Cracks or chips on the windshield are acceptable, provided the rearview mirror bracket is still loose or detached.
• If the windshield has been previously replaced, it must have been done using a Honda genuine part.
• The vehicle must not have been involved in a collision.
• No repair attempt for this specific issue should have been made during the current service visit.

Important Warnings for Owners and Technicians

It is critical for both owners and dealership personnel to adhere to specific instructions related to this investigation. These warnings are in place to ensure the integrity of the collected parts and the accuracy of the diagnostic process.

• Do NOT remove any parts, including the housing, from the rearview mirror assembly or its attachment point if the bracket is loose or detached. This is to preserve the condition of the components for Honda's analysis.
• No repair should have been attempted for the Honda rearview mirror bracket loose condition during the current visit. Vehicles that have already undergone a repair for this specific issue are not eligible for the parts collection program.

• Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

The email body should also include the dealer number, the technician's name, a best phone number, current mileage, confirmation that the vehicle meets all six qualifiers, and an attached photo of the rearview mirror condition.
