The root cause of this action is an assembly error during manufacturing, which resulted in the upper oil pan screws of the S68T engine not being torqued correctly. This issue specifically impacts the BMW X5 upper oil pan screws and other models equipped with the S68T engine.

As this is a proactive Delivery Stop addressing a manufacturing defect, owners of the 2025 BMW X5 and other affected models are not expected to experience any direct symptoms related to the incorrectly torqued BMW X5 upper oil pan screws before the repair is performed. The issue is identified and addressed by BMW prior to vehicle delivery to prevent any potential problems or failures in the field.

Repair Procedure Summary

• Work Pkg #1 (Labor Operation 00 78 766): "Renew the 5 hexalobular screws (M6x25) on the upper oil sump section (without resetting the CBS data)." Labor Allowance: 18 FRU (F95, F96); 19 FRU (G07); 43 FRU (G70); 63 FRU (G90); 64 FRU (G99).

Only one flat rate labor operation code can be used for claim submission. When submitting comments, technicians should reference the SIB number, the issue (e.g., "B11 05 25 Replace upper oil pan Torx screws WP 1"), and the work package number.

Sublet costs for bulk supply materials, claimed under Sublet Code 4, are reimbursable up to $220.00. If the vehicle is under an active BMW Maintenance Program and an engine oil service is due or recommended, the engine oil and filter should be changed after replacing the upper oil pan screws. This additional service is claimed via Work Package #1 (00 78 766) and Standard scope labor operation 00 00 105 (Main work, 2 FRU) under Repair Code 85990501MP, along with the applicable BMW Maintenance Program Oil Service Task.
