The installation typically takes approximately 30 minutes, after which the technician verifies successful installation and confirms the software version is 11/2024.40 or higher.
3. ISTA Programming (If RSU is not applicable): If the RSU software is not downloaded or is lower than 11/2024.40, the vehicle's software will be updated to I-level 24-11-540 or higher using ISTA.
   • The technician will read out the fault memory with ISTA. If no relevant fault memory entries are present (as expected for this issue), they proceed with programming.
   • If the vehicle's I-level is lower than 24-11-540, the technician will program the vehicle using ISTA 4.50.4x or higher. This involves connecting a BMW-approved battery charger, connecting the ISTA 4 programming system, determining and working through the measures plan, following any rework lists, and performing a vehicle test to clear fault memory if needed.
   • ISTA automatically reprograms and codes all programmable control modules to ensure they have the latest software.

• Work Pkg #3: Labor Operation 00 77 802 – Programming and encoding performed in conjunction with another campaign/repair (if the vehicle is already at the target integration level or higher). This is allocated 1 FRU.

For Vehicles Already In Workshop (No Other Main Work):

• Work Pkg #4: Labor Operation 00 77 228 – Programming and encoding the vehicle control units, including vehicle test (00 00 006/61 21 528). This is allocated an "As applicable" FRU.
• Work Pkg #5: Labor Operation 00 77 250 – Vehicle software update via RSU. This is allocated 3 FRU.
• Work Pkg #6: Labor Operation 00 77 229 – Programming and encoding performed in conjunction with another campaign/repair (if the vehicle is already at the target integration level or higher). This is allocated 1 FRU.

Only one flat rate labor operation code can be used per claim submission. Technicians are advised to refer to SI B01 01 20 or B01 07 20 for guidance on documenting diagnosis work time and other repair procedures.
