BMW has issued Parts Bulletin TEC721 (C32-0125-0605) to address an issue concerning door trim parts for certain 2024 BMW X3 and X4 vehicles. Important Warnings for Dealers

BMW has issued specific instructions to prevent the use of these incomplete parts. Dealers must adhere to the following:

  • Affected available inventory must not be sold. Any door trim parts matching the listed numbers that are currently in inventory and missing the door handle must not be used or sold.
  • Concerned are all parts delivered and shipped so far missing door handle. Parts containing door handle are ok for use. This clarifies that only the incomplete parts are affected. Door trim parts that correctly include the door handle are not subject to this bulletin and can be used.

Return Procedure and Deadlines

Dealers are required to return all affected parts to their Regional Distribution Center (RDC). The return process involves submitting a YR26 damage claim, using order reason BM2. It is crucial to include a valid BMW delivery and delivery item number, and the bulletin number TEC721 must be clearly stated in the text of the TEC claim.

If a delivery number cannot be located, dealers should submit an IDS ticket to Parts Logistics under the Returns>Claims>Quality>Claims category for assistance.

Key Deadlines:

  • Validity Period: TEC721 is valid from January 27, 2025, through February 10, 2025.
  • Claim Filing Deadline: The deadline for filing a claim under TEC721 is February 10, 2025.
  • Part Return Deadline: All affected parts must be returned to the RDC no later than February 24, 2025.

Visual Identification of Affected Parts

To aid in identifying the affected parts, the bulletin includes visual examples. Parts that are NOT OK (n.i.O.) are clearly shown to be missing the door opener. Conversely, parts that are OK (i.O. = Mit Türöffner) are depicted with the door opener correctly installed. This visual guide helps ensure that only the truly affected door trim parts are returned.

Reordering Correct Parts

After returning the incomplete door trim parts, dealers are advised to reorder the same part numbers as needed. This ensures that new, complete parts with the door handle included will be supplied for any necessary repairs or installations for the 2024 BMW X3 and X4 models.

Recent owner reports

There is a fire risk and an associated recall 26V438 for my BMW X3. I took it in for repair on 8/31/2026. They did not have the part to fix the recall. Due to the fire risk, I need them to remedy this ASAP.

2024 BMW X3 owner, Oct 2026

My vehicle is part of recall # 26V438 (starter motor issue.) My concern is that the delay in resolving this is causing me to take the precaution of NOT parking my vehicle in my (attached) garage due to potential for fire.
