Cause of the Malfunction

BMW identified that the root cause of this issue stems from a previous error in the Electronic Parts Catalog. This mistake led to an incorrect antenna, also known as an aerial, being ordered and subsequently installed in some vehicles during the manufacturing process. The incorrect part prevents the "Highway Assistant" system from functioning as intended.

Repair Procedure

The correction for this issue involves replacing the incorrectly installed roof antenna with the correct part number. Technicians are instructed to follow specific repair instructions outlined in REP 65 20 020, titled “Removing and installing/replacing roof antenna (For equipment specification without sliding/tilting sunroof)”. This procedure ensures the proper installation of the new antenna, resolving the 2025 BMW iX Highway Assistant malfunction.

Reimbursement for this Service Action is processed through normal claim entry. The applicable work package information and part numbers listed in this bulletin must be used. The specific repair code for this action is 0065940400, designated as "I20 Replacing roof aerial."

There are two primary labor operation codes, depending on the vehicle's status:

• 00 77 773: For replacing the roof aerial (with panoramic glass sunroof), allocated 37 FRU (Flat Rate Units). This applies if the repair is completed before the first vehicle delivery or if the vehicle is already in the workshop.
• 00 77 206: For replacing the roof aerial (with panoramic glass sunroof), allocated 39 FRU. This applies when the vehicle arrives at a service center with this Service Action open, and no other main work is performed during the visit.

Only one of these flat rate labor operation codes can be claimed per workshop visit. This Service Action also qualifies for Alternative Mobility Solution (AMS) expense reimbursement for vehicle owners; further details can be found in SI B01 29 16.
