2022-2024 Audi e-tron GT High-Voltage Battery Replacement TSB

Audi explicitly states that the previous high-voltage battery assembly for the e-tron GT, part number 9J1.915.100., is no longer available for delivery. If a replacement battery is required for your Audi e-tron GT high-voltage battery, the new part number 9J1.915.590. must be used.

Repair Procedure Summary

When replacing the Audi e-tron GT high-voltage battery, technicians must follow a precise procedure outlined in TSB 2077772/1. The process begins with removing the faulty high-voltage battery according to the ELSA (Electronic Service Information System) guidelines. This involves removing and installing the high-voltage battery, including the rear bracket (part numbers 9J1.804.695/.696) which must be set aside for later use. This step references the Workshop Manual section for "Electric drive motor 0EG, 0EM; Rep. gr. 93; High-voltage battery unit; Assembly overview – installed high-voltage battery."

For the conversion to the new high-voltage battery 9J1.915.590.*, the new battery is placed on a scissor-type lifting table. This step also refers to the Workshop Manual section "Electric drive motor 0EG, 0EM; Rep. gr. 93; High-voltage battery unit; Lifting high-voltage battery 1 AX2." Attachments for the front coolant connections (9J1.122.293.J and 9J1.122.293.K) must then be fitted. Additionally, a specific notice, 9J1.010.003.B (E test mark), must be affixed next to the high-voltage battery type plate, as shown in Figure 2 of the TSB.

Vehicle changes during this process include replacing stabilizer links on both sides to match the geometry of the e-tron GT PU. Specifically, the left stabilizer link 9J1.413.357.A is replaced with 9J1.413.357.B, and the right stabilizer link 9J1.413.358.A is replaced with 9J1.413.358.B. This step references the Workshop Manual section "Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr. 40; Subframe; Removing and installing subframe bracket." Technicians must also replace stretch bolts and check rubber bushes for wear, replacing them if necessary (Figures 3 and 4).

Subsequently, the rear brackets 9J1.804.695/.696 (Figure 5) are fitted to the high-voltage battery and torqued to specification. The installation of the new high-voltage battery 9J1.915.590.* continues by performing work according to the Workshop Manual "Removing and installing high-voltage battery 1 AX2" up to the step for "Re-energizing high-voltage system." The high-voltage system is then re-energized by entering specific SVM codes.

Finally, the reinforcement plate is renewed to the geometry of the e-tron GT PU. This involves replacing reinforcement plate 9J1.407.129.F with 9J1.407.129.J (Figure 6). This step refers to the Workshop Manual section "Running gear; Rep. gr. 40; Subframe; Assembly overview – Removing and installing subframe reinforcement."

Re-energizing and SVM Codes

After the physical replacement of the Audi e-tron GT high-voltage battery, the system must be re-energized. This is done via "Flash" mode and SVM (Software Version Management) - Authorized Multiple Code Entry. The specific SVM codes that must be entered are: XCHG1HVBGTPA, XCHG2HVBGTPA, and DUCHISRES008CEGT.
