2025 Audi Q7 Wind Noise at Front Window Guide TSB

Symptoms

Owners of affected 2025 Audi Q7 and SQ7 vehicles may notice a distinct Audi Q7 wind noise emanating from the front door area. This noise is typically heard in the vicinity of the quarter window and the main door window. Customer complaints describe "noises, vibrations -> wind noise" originating from the "door window" and "door window glass" on both the left and right sides. The issue is specifically linked to the "body attachments and installations -> windows, power window regulators" system.

Technical Background

Audi Technical Service Bulletin 2077162/1 explains that the root cause of this Audi Q7 wind noise is a foam piece located in the transition area between the window guide and the door. This foam piece, when crushed, can create a gap between itself and the window guide, leading to the unwanted wind noise. The TSB includes an image (Figure 1) showing the affected area, and another (Figure 2) illustrating the gap between the foam piece and the guide.

Repair Procedure Summary

To address the wind noise, technicians will follow a specific procedure outlined in TSB 2077162/1. The first step involves loosening the window guide in the transition area between the window guide/quarter window and the door, referencing the Workshop Manual for detailed instructions. Once loosened, a butyl cord (part number AKL 450 005 05) measuring 40 mm x 2.5 mm is to be inserted into the area where the foam piece is visible. This butyl cord must then be pressed fully into the transition area between the foam piece and the door, as depicted in Figure 3 of the bulletin. Finally, the loosened window guide is refitted according to the Workshop Manual.
