2021 Audi Q5 / SQ5 Brake Pedal Noise TSB

Audi has released Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 47 22 14 2067321/2 to address customer complaints regarding a squeaking noise when pressing the brake pedal in certain Q5 and SQ5 models. This bulletin, dated July 27, 2022, supersedes an earlier TSB, Group 47 number 22-13, from June 14, 2022.

The TSB confirms that the noise originates from the brake servo unit, also known as the brake booster. An improved rubber boot for this component was gradually introduced in production during the first quarter of 2021.

Symptoms

Owners of affected vehicles may notice squeak noises can be heard when pressing the brake pedal. This noise can be consistently reproduced and is identified as coming from the Brake Servo Unit (Brake Booster).

Important Warnings

This Technical Service Bulletin specifically states that it does not include PHEV vehicles. Owners of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) models should be aware that this TSB does not apply to their vehicles.

For warranty claims, Audi emphasizes a critical requirement: Replaced Components without audio files uploaded to DOC-IT will be debited! This means that if you have this repair performed under warranty, your service center must upload an audio recording of the complaint to the DOC-IT database, including your vehicle's VIN, to avoid being charged for the replacement parts.

Diagnosis and Repair Procedure

If your vehicle exhibits the Audi Q5 brake pedal noise, the service procedure involves several steps. First, the technician must record an audio file of the complaint to document the specific squeaking noise.

This audio file, along with the vehicle's VIN, must then be attached to the DOC-IT database.
