Audi of America has issued Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 00 20 41 2060800/1, dated September 29, 2020, to establish a mandatory repair authorization process for the 2021 Audi Q5 PI Launch. This bulletin is crucial for dealers to ensure proper technical support and documentation when addressing any issues with new Audi Q5 PI vehicles.

The TSB outlines specific steps that must be followed for any technical concerns encountered with the 2021 Audi Q5 PI models. This process is designed to gather vital technical information for Audi and ensure that repairs are conducted correctly during the initial launch phase of the vehicle.

What is the Audi Q5 PI Launch Repair Authorization?

This TSB details a mandatory procedure for Audi dealerships to follow when they encounter issues with the 2021 Audi Q5 PI models. The primary goal is to collect comprehensive technical data during the vehicle's launch phase. This Audi Q5 PI Launch repair authorization process ensures that any problems are properly documented and resolved with direct guidance from Audi's Technical Assistance Center (TAC).

Important Notes for Dealers

Audi emphasizes that the Repair Authorization Process described in TSB 00 20 41 2060800/1 is not intended for routine maintenance services or Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) checks. However, if an issue is identified during a PDI, dealers must adhere to the service procedure outlined in this bulletin. Crucially, dealers are instructed not to replace any part or disconnect electrical connections before initiating the GFF diagnosis and contacting the TAC.

Dealer Procedure for Technical Issues

When a technical concern arises with a 2021 Audi Q5 PI, dealers must follow a specific, mandatory procedure:

  1. Verify Customer Concern: Confirm the exact nature of the issue reported or observed.
  2. Begin GFF Diagnosis: Start the Guided Fault Finding (GFF) diagnostic process. It is critical not to remove any part or disconnect electrical connections at this stage.
  3. Create a TAC Ticket: Generate a TAC ticket using the Technical Assistance Center System within Elsa.
  4. Select Concern Type: In the Concern Type field of the TAC ticket, select "Audi Q5 PI Launch".
  5. Describe Concern: Provide a detailed description of the customer concern, filling in all required fields.
  6. Include Contact Information: Ensure a cell phone number is included in the TAC ticket. A TAC consultant will use this number to contact the technician, allowing them to be near the vehicle during the discussion.
  7. Attach Documentation: Attach the GFF Diagnosis Log and relevant photos of the concern to the TAC ticket.
  8. Activate TAC Ticket: Promptly activate the TAC ticket by calling the TAC for further instructions before proceeding with any repairs.

After receiving the technician's call, Audi's Launch Team will provide a repair plan or decide to dispatch a Launch Team member to the dealership within one hour. If no response is received within this timeframe, the technician may proceed with the repair.

Warranty and Parts Return Process

Audi's Warranty Parts Return Center will notify dealerships of any required part returns for closed Audi TAC case numbers within one business day. The Warranty Parts Return Center personnel will contact the Parts Manager to confirm part availability, create a shipping request in the Warranty Parts Portal (WPP), and contact the dealership if requested parts are not collected by FedEx within 48 hours.

Dealership personnel are responsible for monitoring the Outstanding Warranty Parts Report in WPP, printing pre-addressed shipping labels, returning requested parts with repair documentation and a printed copy of the Audi TAC case number on the same day, and entering the warranty claim into SAGA within 24 hours of repair.

Additional Information

This TSB is informational only and does not apply to any Audi Warranty. All part and service references, including those in this TSB (2060800), are subject to change. Dealers should always consult their Parts Department and/or ETKA for the latest information and parts bulletins. Additionally, the Repair Manual should be checked for fasteners, bolts, nuts, and screws that require replacement during repairs. Further instructions on claiming additional time units can be found in the Audi Warranty Service Circular AWA-20-10, dated September 30, 2020.
