Audi Service issued comprehensive guidelines for the delivery of 2021 Audi Q5 and SQ5 models. This document, identified as NHTSA ID 10180092 and effective "Effective 9-8-2020-US Version 1.1", ensures a standardized and thorough process for both pre-delivery inspection (PDI) and customer orientation. The goal is to prepare the vehicle correctly and familiarize the new owner with its features.
Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Checklist
Before a 2021 Audi Q5 or SQ5 is handed over to a customer, dealers must complete a detailed pre-delivery inspection. This involves checking the vehicle's exterior for any damage, dings, dents, or surface scratches. The interior must be inspected for cleanliness, grease marks, and damage, and all accessories must be installed as specified.
Key PDI steps also include ensuring floor mats are securely locked in place. Technicians must set tire pressures to "normal customer load" conditions and calibrate the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) prior to delivery. All identified defects must be repaired before the customer takes possession of the vehicle.
Essential Delivery Preparations
Beyond the physical inspection, several administrative and technical tasks are required. Dealers must complete myAudi registration, activate the Audi connect trial, and verify the key user before the customer arrives. This includes ensuring the customer has agreed to Audi connect Terms & Conditions and has set their 4-digit S-PIN in the myAudi smartphone app. Additionally, the Key User Pairing in the vehicle must be completed if equipped, and any Audi phone box registration forms provided to the customer.
Customer Orientation Topics
During customer orientation, dealers are guided to cover various topics based on the client's preferences and available time. Important areas include demonstrating features like Voice Recognition, the Navigation System, BLUETOOTH® mobile phone pairing, and the Audio System with smart phone integration. Other controls such as Door Locks/Keyless Entry, Trunk/Hatch/Tailgate operation, and Cruise Control System are also typically reviewed.
Owners should also be familiarized with specific indicators like the "Passenger Side Airbag Off" light and the location of LATCH childseat-mounting points. The demonstration of exterior and interior lighting, as well as ambient LED interior lighting settings, is also part of the orientation process for the 2021 Audi Q5 delivery guidelines.
Infotainment System Updates
The guidelines include specific updates for the infotainment section, particularly concerning SiriusXM. Dealers are instructed to "Tune to SiriusXM and show SiriusXM presets and customize based on customers listening preferences." They must also "Show differences of SAT vs IP channels through the On Demand category in SiriusXM with 360L equipped vehicles."
Other infotainment topics covered during orientation include the MMI® controls and basic functionality, various sound systems (Audi sound system, Bang & Olufsen® sound system), MMI® Navigation plus, and MMI® touch with handwriting recognition technology. The 90-day trial subscription for SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, HD Radio™ Technology, Voice control, BLUETOOTH® wireless technology, Audi smartphone interface (Apple® CarPlay and Google™ Android Auto), Audi connect® trial subscriptions, Audi connect® CARE features, Wi-Fi® hotspot capabilities, and the Nav-Data-Update process via the customer's MyAudi account are also part of the discussion.
Important Owner Information and Vehicle Systems
Dealers are responsible for providing and explaining crucial owner documentation. This includes the owner's manual, MMI® manual, and the Quick Questions & Answers Guide. Customers should be informed about the "Text to Phone” features and the Audi Technology website (www.auditechnology.com) for tutorials.
The Tire Warranty Booklet and Warranty & Maintenance Booklet (which requires the "vehicle identification label" from the trunk to be adhered inside) are also reviewed, along with the recommended maintenance schedule. Owners are also provided with Audi Care information and encouraged to program the 24-hour Roadside Assistance number (1-800-411-9988) into their phone.
Vehicle systems covered during the orientation drive include the Idle start/stop efficiency system, Electromechanical parking brake, and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). For TFSI e models, Hybrid power system features and settings are also demonstrated. Driver assistance systems such as Adaptive suspension, Audi advanced key, Parking system plus (with rear view camera and top view camera system), Cruise control, Adaptive cruise control, Audi pre sense® basic/front/rear, Audi active lane assist, Audi drive select, High-beam assist, Collision avoidance assist, Turn assist, Head-up display, and Traffic sign recognition are also explained.
