Owners of 2025-2026 Audi A6, S5, and SQ5 models may encounter an illuminated check engine light on their dashboard. This issue is detailed in Audi Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 2080827/1, released on February 19, 2026. The TSB specifically targets problems with the exhaust pressure control valve's range or performance, which can trigger specific diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
This bulletin provides comprehensive guidance for technicians to diagnose and resolve the underlying cause of the check engine light, ensuring proper exhaust system function for affected vehicles, including those experiencing the Audi S5/SQ5 exhaust flap check engine light.
Symptoms
The primary symptom reported by vehicle owners is the illumination of the check engine light on the instrument cluster. This warning indicates a fault within the engine management system, often related to the exhaust system's operation. The TSB notes that the customer's statement regarding the check engine light can typically be reproduced by technicians.
Fault Codes / DTCs
When the check engine light illuminates due to this specific issue, one or both of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) will be logged in the Engine Control Module (J623):
| DTC Code | Description | Symptom Codes | | :------- | Frequently Asked Questions
- What does Audi TSB 2080827/1 address?
- Audi TSB 2080827/1 addresses check engine light illumination on 2025-2026 Audi A6, S5, and SQ5 models, specifically when diagnostic trouble codes P04A000 or P047600 are present. These codes indicate issues with the exhaust pressure control valve's range or performance, often due to incorrectly specified exhaust flap dimensions.
- What are the common fault codes associated with the Audi S5/SQ5 exhaust flap check engine light?
- The common fault codes are P04A000, which stands for "Exhaust Pressure Control Valve 'B' Range/Performance," and P047600, which signifies "Exhaust Pressure Control Valve 'A' Range/Performance." Both can be active/static or passive/intermittent and are accompanied by specific symptom codes.
- How do technicians diagnose and repair the exhaust flap issue?
- Diagnosis involves reproducing the check engine light and checking for the relevant DTCs in the Engine Control Module. The repair procedure may include detaching the rear silencer, removing and swapping the exhaust flap control motors to identify the faulty component, and then replacing either the control motor or the rear silencer as needed. Post-repair, diagnostic tests are performed to ensure correct flap function.
- Is this repair covered under warranty?
- If your 2025-2026 Audi A6, S5, or SQ5 is still under warranty, this repair should be covered. However, the Technical Service Bulletin states that it is informational only if the vehicle is outside of any warranty. Always confirm warranty coverage with your authorized Audi service center.
