3. The tester may not automatically report completion; manually click "Done/Continue".
4. Verify that the coding in control unit J500 (address 0044) under Identification is set to "00000000000000".
5. If the coding is correct, proceed with the software update. If not, perform the factory reset again.
6. Perform the software update of the steering system using SVM codes: first 44A041, then 44B041.
7. If the red steering warning lamp illuminates after the update, switch the ignition off and on again.
8. Erase all DTCs.

The new software version will be 1181, replacing the old software version 0172. The new software part number is 8W0909144P.
