Engine started knocking at 58,000 miles, lost power and then completely lost all oil, pressureand then the vehicle became undrivable. Toyota has it in their service department and said it needs an engine replacement. It also does not have a part for the recall that we’ve been waiting on for over a year. They said it’s gonna take two months to repair.

ENGINE ISSUES . DEALERSHIP HAS ACKNOWLEDGE CONCERN AND COMMENCED WORK ORDER AND COMPLETED IT. DEALERSHIP UNABLE TO CONFIRM IF REPAIR IS SATISFACTORY TO MANUFACTURE ENGINE RECALL REMEDY. ENGINE ISSUE STILL OCCURRING AFTER REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURE IS ALSO AWARE AND ACKNOWLEDGES A RECALL IS OPENED BUT THERE IS NOT A SATISFACTORY REMEDY AVAILABLE AT THE MOMENT. THE VEHICLE POSES A SAFETY HAZARD. MANUFACTURE OPENED A CASE NUMBER 240913002128 TO DETERMINE TO REPURCHASE VEHICLE BUT TO NO AVAIL THEY STOPPED COMMUNICATION HENCE THIS COMPLAINT IS BEING SUBMITTED.

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle briefly shuddered and lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 28,000.

The truck has had multiple recalls. As a result of an issue associated with a recall, it went into limp mode and left me stranded in a remote area far from a dealorship for over a week. Toyota has not provided a schedule for a recall to replace the powertrain in a timely manner

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
LTA feature engaged out of nowhere and my dashboard lit up with red, green and yellow warnings all at once and made my truck swerve back and forth and prevented me from having any control and steered me directly into oncoming traffic almost causing me to have a head on collision. Also the brakes automatically come on out of nowhere for no reason and has almost given me whiplash. I just had major neck surgery with plates and screws put in my cervical spine and if this keeps happening I'm going to need another surgery.

My son was driving our 2023 Toyota Tundra (non-hybrid) at approximately 25-30 miles an hour when the engine shut down. He had difficulty steering but was able to safely brake to a stop in the middle of the road. Cars were forced to pass him on the shoulder. He was unable to restart the engine for what he estimates was approximately one minute. He was finally able to restart the engine and drive home. The next day I drove it to the Toyota dealer. The engine stalled on me one block from the dealer on a busy intersection. I was able to get it restarted, out of traffic and into the dealership where it sits today. There were no apparent symptoms with the vehicle prior to it stalling on my son. I received an engine failure warning message when the vehicle stalled on me. The dealership looked at the engine and stated that there is lose debris in the engine. The dealership has stated that they are unable to give me a diagnoses letter or a repair order at this time. Once they repair is made, they can give me something in writing. This issue appears to be similar Safety Recall 24TA07. However, Toyota is stating that my vehicle does not fall under 24TA07. It appears have a vehicle with an engine stall safety issue that is not attached to a recall.

The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that after inserting the fuel nozzle into the vehicle, fuel spilled back out of the vehicle onto the leg of the contact. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate or determine the cause of the failure. The failure reoccurred approximately one year later, and the dealer was unable to duplicate or determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that during the failures the fuel tank had approximately a quarter tank of fuel and the vehicle had been driven for approximately six hours on an extremely hot day while the air temperature was above 105 degrees. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 18,000.

In addition, the contact stated that occasionally while driving at various speeds, the fuel gauge indicated that there was more fuel in the tank than the actual fuel level. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that the local dealer was contacted several times in the past; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. 265/60R20 112H ALL 4 TIRES HAVE EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE EDGES, Lewis Toyota serviced the vehicle on 10/16/24 and recommended new tires, the vehicle has 16920 miles. Truck was in to dealer for 5000, 10000, and now 16000 mile service. Vehicle has been maintained to factory recommendations.

I was driving at highways speeds then engine suddenly shuts off, had lost of power steering. This happens around 11pm luckily Not many cars were around and was able to pull over safely. Also the battery is bad it didn’t turn on randomly one day then I jumpstarted it and it kept happening, same day I took it into Toyota service under warranty and they said it was supposedly “good” according to their test. Left to a trip next day and again it not turn on. I purchased a new one thru autozone.

Fuel gauge continues to reset to full with the miles to empty resting without putting gas in the truck. First reported to dealer and looked at on 7/12/24 with no solution. Second incident reported and truck left at dealer on 7/29/24. with no solution. 2 fuel gauge resets occured and reported to dealer on10/2/24 again with no solution except Toyota knows the problem but has no fixes. Last resetting of fuel gauge has occured on 10/9/24. I have been informed that other Toyota Tundra trucks have been into this dealership with the same problem of the fuel gauge resetting without putting any fuel in the truck. This vehicle should come with a reliable and working fuel gauge. This can become a hazard if running out of fuel. Dealership has now looked at this problem 3 times! 5 resets of the fuel gauge in 2315 miles.

Had engine failure on highway with 27794 miles on the truck. There were no warnings or symptoms prior to failure. I was driving along and heard a large thud and the waring message came on stating low oil pressure and to pull over and shutdown vehicle. This happened on a multi lane highway going up hill and I barely made it over the shoulder to shutdown the vehicle. Would have been bad if I hadn't made it to the shoulder and ended up stranded in traffic lanes on a multi lane highway. I was told by the dealership that the short block would need to be replaced and that they found chunks of metal up to 2 inches in the oil pan. Vehicle is at dealership awaiting parts for repair and can be inspected anytime.

Notified of safety recall for this in August of 2023, to date, 10/10/2024, the fix has not been installed or available for my vehicle. Initially notified of a recall for the same issue on April 28th, 2023. I was under the impression this had been remedied during one of the services performed between April and August of 2023, with the dealer telling me the August 2023 recall was a different recall for the same part as the remedied part was recalled as well.

The vehicle's climate control system does not function as the instructions in the owners manual states. I have had it looked at by the dealer 3 times, once with a field technician, and filed a complaint with Toyota directly, all of which have been fruitless. In short, the fan speed function does not increase the output from the fan when increasing the fan speed at its switch. You can hear the fan speed increase, but no additional air comes out of vents if the vehicle is near the set temperature. In other words, you are not able to manually control the fan/blower. This has been replicated by the dealer each time, including the field tech. The response I have received has been both "it's functioning as designed" by the dealer, and "it's a known issue" from the Toyota field rep. Nothing has been done to resolve it nor update the owner's manual to indicate this is how the system is supposed to function.
