EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V322000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). The contact became aware that water was entering into the vehicle through the taillight assembly. Whenever water entered the vehicle, the taillights and turn signals failed to function as intended. No warning lights were illuminated. The turn signal were blinking quickly during the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact replaced the taillight independently. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

SERVICE BRAKES
As I was coming down thew mounts (44 miles of 7-9% grade) as I slightly hit the brakes the truck shook so badly is was vibrating me off the road. The only way to avoid to to put strain on my engine as to manually shift it down to 3rd gear to forcibly slow the truck to a speed where this could be controlled. Causing overall traffic issues.

POWER TRAIN
Complete engine failure at 62,000 miles. This has been an ongoing problem with Toyota tundras with a V6 twin turbo. I was told that the dealership that the 2024 models were not affected by the known manufacturing defect. There’s been a complete recall of the 2022 and the 2023 models. This could be a safety issue if I was driving on the highway and had the engine failure. The dealer confirmed that this is an ongoing issue, and there may be an expansion of the recall.

ENGINE
The engine misfired and failed twice in one year, and the vehicle is currently available for inspection. Both times the engine failed, I was on the freeway, which nearly caused cars and semi-trucks to rear-end me. I had a convoy of vehicles behind me and had to move to the right lane very cautiously. I reported the problem to the AutoNation Toyota dealership on Gulf Freeway. Yes, the dealership mechanics have inspected it, and it has been at the dealership since August 5, 2025. There were warning lights on the dashboard when the engine failed.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
You start with a half tank of gas or so. Then you park on an incline like a driveway. When starting the truck again the fuel tank shows full tank and more miles available till empty which is inaccurate. The gauge does not reset till you refill. Workarounds online do not work. This is a safety issue in mountain driving when you park you may miss how much gas you have left and can stall causing an accident or being stranded in a remote area. Toyota says they are aware but online reports show it has been a known issue since 2022. I feel this should be addressed before someone is hurt or stranded. This issue has occurred multiple times to me.

There radio knob continually falls offs. It is located on the driver side and falls off almost every time turned. As such it has fallen under the pedals and/or my foot which causes a distraction and/or the need to move suddenly move my foot. This can be a hazard especially when braking.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the messages “Low Power Mode” and “See Dealer” were displayed on the instrument cluster before the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle and had the vehicle towed to a local dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine control software had failed and reinstalled a "Mechanic" software solution. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact was advised by the dealer that the engine recall would be completed in phases, and the VIN was not part of the current phase of repairs. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and the agent informed the contact that the recall would run through 2029, or if the vehicle exceeded 100,000 miles, the recall repair would not be performed. The failure mileage was 82,170.

ENGINE
Vehicle completely shut off on remote 2 lane country road while traveling. No warning lights were noted or noises observed before the engine failure. Truck power steering failed to operate at optimal due to the engine cutting off. Was hard to get vehicle off into the grass as there were no shoulders to pull off to. Vehicle behind me as coming up a hill when this occurred had to break as well. The vehicle was towed to a dealership and they have confirmed catastrophic engine damage, and found metal in oil pan. This same problem occurred with the 23 Toyota Tundra's as well. The vehicle is currently at Bruner Toyota in Brownwood, Texas and a Toyota technician has been brought in. The truck has 47,698 miles on it.

ENGINE, STEERING, SERVICE BRAKES
First I had my engine replaced in May 2025 under the recall and service advisor informed me it would be about 3 days before they completed the engine swap and it had to sit to make sure there were no leaks anywhere and in less than 24 hrs the called me and told me my truck was all done. I went to pick my truck up they had it waiting in the service line with the engine running, I heard a strange ticking noise coming from under my hood that sounded like a lawnmower engine, the service tech tells me that is normal with the replacement engines which is absolutely false. Being a woman they tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I got frustrated and got in my truck and when I came to the first stoplight when the light turned green and I stepped on the gas pedal, my truck would not move, after about 5 seconds it surged forward and then again wouldn't move, then again my truck surged forward with a loud thud in the rear like somebody hit me from behind. It feels like it isn't kicking into gear and also my steering wheel was not centered when they swapped the engine so I have to hold my steering off to one side for my truck to drive straight. This has been a nightmare for me and Toyota refuses to acknowledge there is anything wrong. I've also been waiting for 7 months to get my front brakes fixed under the TSB and all they say is we don't have parts available, meanwhile they're building new trucks with new brake pads, rotors and calipers before taking care of the people waiting months and months? A. I had a warning light and had a distorted image in surround view. Mid-March 2025 B. Wend dealership and they replaced the ECU related to backup camera. March 26, 2025 C. After ECU replacemenet, I have two issues 1. backup camara hitch line is not on center 2. parking line on surround view is distorted. Parking line is on straight but displayed bent line. Went the dealership. They said no issue was found. I explained the anomaly. they acknowleded the distorted image but didn't think as an issue. - Reached out Toyota cooperation and shared the image which shows distorted image. D. Case manager organized repair work with the dealer ship and visited on Sep. 19 2025 - Dealership diagnosed no issue. I have touble for parking and connecting trailer due to the issue. I couldn't make the dealership to recognize this as an issue even with help from toyota cooperation.

The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed there was no recall coverage on the VIN related to the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.

STEERING, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
On August 31, 2025, my 2025 Toyota Tundra experienced a sudden steering failure while I was driving, which caused an accident with a parked vehicle. The steering wheel completely seized up and I was unable to control the vehicle. This was a serious safety hazard that put my life and the lives of others on the road at risk. The vehicle showed warning messages and error codes related to the steering system immediately before and after the crash. The problem was unexpected and there was no prior damage to the vehicle that would explain this. The vehicle is currently at a Toyota dealership, where the dealer has confirmed that the inspection has been submitted to Toyota corporate for review. My insurance company has also inspected the vehicle. At this time, Toyota has not provided me with a resolution. This appears to be a manufacturer defect in the steering system. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
