Since purchasing this truck in 2023, the engine or transmission has exhibited a severe throttle lag/hesitation when cold—a 2–4 second delay in acceleration from a stop after pressing the gas pedal, followed by a sudden lurch, which creates a safety hazard when merging into traffic. No warning lights, error messages, or other fault indicators appear. The dealer has been unable to reproduce the issue because the truck is warm by the time it's inspected, and no inspection has been performed outside the dealership.

The gas pedal has no response when coming to a stop and pushing on the gas pedal. Multiple times I come to a stop, push the gas, no response, 1-3 seconds later; the vehicle jerks forward. On occasion it has nearly lead to an accident and I do not feel safe in my vehicle.

Many times while pushing the gas pedal the truck lags and wont move and I have almost been hit by another vehichle trying to enter traffic. This happens when the engine is warm and has been running for some time. A couple of times the truck has done this and I have had to hit the gas pedal to the point of mushing it all the way to floor and the truck finally responds and then takes off out of control and fish tails. Very Scary!! Most of the time its just a lag while coming to a stop at a stop sign and then push the gas pedal and there is a throttle lag before the truck moves and then is abrupt.

POWER TRAIN
Like most other third gen tundra owners, I experience a significant delay at random between pressing the throttle and actual vehicle movement. Often in unsafe situations, such as in traffic or at intersections, the vehicle will not move for 1-5 seconds upon pressing the throttle/pedal. When it finally does move, it will jump forward, startling passengers. This is a clear safety concern that occurs across Tundra 3rd gen models that Toyota has not addressed. I have personally been in several situations where this delay carried a risk of an accident. This has occurred since the truck is new. It now has 30k miles and is meticulously maintained.

The motors oil pressure is low. If something goes while I'm driving it can be dangerous to others and myself. It has not been confirmed with mine, but it has been a known issue with this year of the tundra's and has a recall for some of them but not all. Hasn't been inspected by others and no lights have came on yet but running really low pressure.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while her partner was driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The driver was able to pull over; however, several attempts were needed to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving at various speeds, and that recently, when the vehicle was restarted after stalling, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. There was no warning light illuminated during the failures. The local dealer was contacted but the contact was informed that the dealer could not diagnose the vehicle until July 2026. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

My 2022 Toyota Platinum hesitates on acceleration. This happens constantly. I pull out of my neighborhood street onto a busy street, the truck moves forward then hesitates in a busy lane, then will surge ahead. This leaves me exposed to oncoming traffic. I have just missed being hit many times. This happens at intersections, where it will hesitate and the car behind me almost hits me. Thank you.

Advanced driving system - Truck with leave a lane unprovoked and will fight you to recover manually. I have another Toyota with the same system (2024 Grand Highlander) and it works perfect. Not confirmed by dealer yet. It will be next week. Not inspected yet. Automatic lane centering just stops working, display changes to "not tracking'. Blue lines disappear on display. Truck has done this since new. I was very disappointed when I first used it since I expected it to work like our Highlander.

Unknown. The truck often lags when the accelerator is pressed. Coming from a stop seems to make it worse. It takes 1-2 seconds more than you would expect as normal for the truck to start to move. This gives you enough time to think something is wrong and cover the brake to prevent you from entering an intersection if there is a problem. The result is that you end up halfway into an intersection slower than you expected, possibly causing an accident. It seems like a combination of electronic throttle control lag, and the 10 speed transmission never knowing what gear to select causes the issue.

Acceleration pause or lag dead spot from slow like yielding at yield sign or from stop. Not always from stop but consistent from slow rolling from situations like yield sign or merging to traffic. I have encountered several situations where I was afraid I would be hit by another vehicle but lucky enough to make it or the other driver slowed or break. Then when it does go there is a huge jerk like it kicked in and I punched the accelerator. This occurs frequently.

Throttle Lag: when stopped at a stop light/stop sign, there is significant delay from when the gas is depressed and the vehicle moves. This sometimes causes the vehicle to jolt forward and has almost caused accidents.

This has happened to me at least 6-7 times since owning as Jan 2024. Occasionally when stopped at stopped sign or red light, upon releasing brake and pressing gas pedal the engine will stall or stutter causing the vehicle to either hesitate to go and then launch or hesitate and not do anything. This is an issue as it has happened to me when trying to cross a divided highway and it stalling as I'm partially out in the middle of the road.

There’s a delay in throttle response. Especially when making a turn across traffic. Throttle would not respond for at least 1 to 2 seconds. Even at full throttle the truck did not respond while cars were coming towards me. This has happened to several tundra owners. Check Facebook tundra group and you’ll find others with same issue.

When at a complete stop, going to pull out, or continue driving, there is a noticable lag to the acceleration. It sometimes does nothing for a few seconds before acceleration. If backing up, then switching to drive,.there is a delay and or a small jerk motion before the vehicle accelerates. This has caused issues when pulling out and vehicles are coming at normal speeds with plenty of time to pull out. The delay has almost caused several accidents.
