Technical Bulletin:TSBH299NAS3 / NAS20.11.001 H299 recall Hello, I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2019 Jaguar XE, which I purchased in 2026. After experiencing issues with the vehicle, I had a diagnostic check performed. The findings indicated that the vehicle needs a variable camshaft timing VCT solenoid replacement. Based on the diagnostic findings, my vehicle appears to be experiencing the same issue addressed in Jaguar technical bulletin TSBH299NAS3. I contacted Jaguar Customer Service to inquire about coverage for this repair. However, I was advised that my vehicle’s VIN is not included in the H299 recall. When I explained that my vehicle is experiencing the same issue addressed by the bulletin, Jaguar Customer Service advised me to submit a complaint to NHTSA in an attempt to have the matter reviewed and potentially resolved. I am concerned that my vehicle is experiencing a mechanical issue addressed by an existing Jaguar technical bulletin, yet I am being denied solely because my VIN is not included. I believe vehicle owners experiencing the same defect should receive fair consideration, particularly when the issue has already been identified by the manufacturer. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter. Thank you so much

I am concerned that a potentially serious engine/timing-system defect may exist in my 2019 Jaguar XE R-Sport 2.0L Ingenium gasoline engine (64,820 miles). Jaguar Service Action H299 addresses VCT solenoids on certain 2018–2020 XE models, and my VIN falls within the identified VIN range. In August 2026, my vehicle developed a VCT/camshaft-related fault. An independent Jaguar/Land Rover repair facility replaced the camshaft adjuster solenoids, but the problem persisted as indicated by the engine service light. The vehicle then began running noticeably rougher and developed a rattling noise every time the engine is started. The repair facility recommended approximately upper timing-chain-related repairs, which I declined. Jaguar North America referred me to an authorized Jaguar retailer, which has advised me not to drive the vehicle because of the rough running and rattling. The earliest diagnostic appointment is September 21, 2026, and I have been advised repairs could potentially cost approximately $10,000 or more. I request that NHTSA document and investigate whether these VCT/timing-system problems represent a broader safety-related defect in affected Jaguar XE vehicles.

Subject: 2019 Jaguar XE – Recall H535 Did Not Restore Rear Camera Function I own a 2019 Jaguar XE that experienced rear-view camera failure consistent with Recall H535 regarding rear camera wiring issues. My rear camera stopped functioning before recall service, which is why I brought the vehicle to the dealer. After performing the recall repair, the dealer advised that the camera itself may have failed and may require replacement outside the recall remedy. My concern is that the recall-related condition either caused or contributed to the camera failure, and the recall remedy has not restored operation of the rear visibility system. Vehicle Information: * Year/Make/Model: 2019 Jaguar XE * Recall Number: H535 Current Condition: * Rear camera remains inoperative / camera function has not been restored after recall service. * Dealer indicated camera replacement may be needed separately. * I am requesting review of whether the recall remedy adequately addresses failures associated with this defect and whether damage caused by the recall condition is being excluded from repair coverage. Purchased 2020 jaguar XE with under 13,000 miles on it 2 years ago now has 23,000 miles on it. Went to leave for work and my car wouldn’t start stating the transmission wasn’t in park and other messages and tried jumping it wouldn’t work. Wouldnt switch gears to put car in neutral and neutral release under hood wouldn’t fully work. because parking break was stuck on. Took 3 tow trucks to get it out. Finally got it to dealership where they stated it’s a Corroded battery line could not state how it got damaged besides “salt” & “moisture” has gotten inside and these things just happen. This does not sound like normal wear and tear for a 6 year old car with that low of miles. Especially when taken care of. Can not pinpoint exactly how moisture got inside or where in the line. States the battery line brings the power from the back of the car where the battery is to the front and the voltage isn’t getting through to start the vehicle. What if you were driving and then suddenly it gave out due to this? This sounds like a safety issue and jaguar doesn’t want to be reliable for it. I had no indication anything was wrong with it just one day it worked and then the next day it didn’t.

While driving on the highway at normal operating speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost power, and the accelerator pedal became completely unresponsive, preventing me from maintaining speed or safely exiting the roadway. This created a severe safety hazard, as I was unable to maneuver or pull off to avoid fast-moving traffic. Immediately after, I attempted to shift the vehicle into “Park,” but received an on-screen message stating that the transmission was not in Park, even though the shifter was physically in the Park position. The gear selector became disabled, and I was unable to shift into any gear. Despite applying the emergency parking brake, the vehicle continued to roll on its own, presenting a serious risk of collision or injury. There were no warning lights, messages, or alerts prior to or during the failure. I had no indication that a critical fault was occurring. The vehicle was later towed to a dealership. Upon inspection, a certified JLR technician discovered faulty wiring in the gear shifter assembly, which had caused a short circuit that disabled the gear selector, the Transmission Control Module (TCM), the Engine Control Unit (ECU), and the gearbox inside the transmission.

I am the owner of a 2019 Jaguar XE with fewer than 50,000 miles on it. On July 11th, 2025, the check engine light came on, prompting me to drive straight to the Jaguar dealership for diagnostic evaluation. Upon inspection, I was informed that I needed a new timing chain, sprockets, and coolant pump. Shortly after, I became aware of Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #H299NAS2, issued by Jaguar on December 22, 2020. This TSB acknowledged an issue with the Variable Camshaft Timing Solenoids and instructed dealers to perform repairs under warranty by October 31, 2022. A second TSB was issued on March 18, 2020 for "insufficient wear on of Variable Camshaft Timing solenoid bush". Despite multiple service visits to the dealership within this specified timeframe, Jaguar failed to address this issue on my vehicle, resulting in a premature safety defect. This defect has now rendered my vehicle unsafe for operation. In response, I filed a repair assistance claim with Jaguar on July 17th. I diligently followed up on the status of my claim via email on July 22nd, July 29th, August 1st, and August 4th. Each time, I was informed that the claim was still under review, with no estimated timeline provided for the review process. On August 8th, three weeks after submitting my claim, I sent a formal request for an update and requested a loaner vehicle if the review process was to be prolonged. I received no response. I reiterated this request on August 9th, again to no avail. On August 11th, I submitted a third request, which has also gone unanswered.

This vehicle has left me stranded with my family multiple times with out being able to pull over on the side of the road. It’s had so many coolant leaks, hoses bust, and a hand full of coolant leaks in the whole system. The jaguar dealership has worked on vehicle multiple of times without any success. The vehicle while driving didn’t even warn me the coolant was low. When I pulled over and opened the hood, it busted of the coolant cap on its own and coolant was busting out everywhere cause it to leak on me.
