2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Adds Woodland Edition
Toyota is introducing the 2027 Grand Highlander Woodland Edition, a new trim level designed for adventure with all-terrain tires and enhanced ground clearance. The 2027 lineup also sees minor updates to other grades and revised pricing, with models expected to arrive at dealerships later this year.

Toyota is expanding its Grand Highlander lineup for the 2027 model year with the introduction of the Woodland Edition. This new trim level emphasizes off-road capability and adventure-oriented features, while other Grand Highlander models receive minor updates and pricing adjustments. The 2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Woodland Edition will be available later this year.
New Woodland Edition Details
The 2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Woodland Edition joins the lineup as a dedicated hybrid model, featuring a 2.5-liter Hybrid powertrain with standard all-wheel drive. Key enhancements include matte black 18-inch alloy wheels fitted with all-terrain tires, contributing to an additional 0.5 inches of ground clearance compared to other Grand Highlander models. This edition also includes a Woodland-branded removable console cooler for the second row, capable of holding six 12-ounce cans, and a Woodland-branded cargo tray with pop-up dividers.
Further distinguishing the Woodland Edition are black exterior accents, including badges, roof rails, mirror caps, and trim around the headlights and windows. Functional additions comprise LED fog lamps, a tow hitch, and mud guards. Inside, the Woodland Edition offers a heated steering wheel and a 120V/1500W power outlet in the second row, alongside all-weather floor mats with the Woodland logo. Seating is configured for seven passengers with second-row captain's chairs.
Powertrain Options and Efficiency
The 2027 Grand Highlander continues to offer a choice of three powertrains. The base option is a 2.4-liter turbocharged gas engine producing 265 horsepower, available with either front-wheel drive (FWD) or Dynamic Torque Control All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The 2.5-liter Hybrid system delivers 245 total system horsepower, offered with FWD or electronic On-Demand AWD.
For increased performance, the Hybrid MAX powertrain generates 362 total system horsepower and comes with Full-Time Electronic AWD. Fuel economy estimates vary by powertrain and drivetrain; the Hybrid XLE FWD model achieves an estimated 36 combined MPG, while Hybrid AWD models (LE, XLE, Woodland, Limited) are rated at 34 combined MPG. Gas FWD models are estimated at 24 combined MPG, and gas AWD models at 23 combined MPG. The Hybrid MAX Platinum has an estimated 27 combined MPG. Towing capacity is 5,000 pounds for gas and Hybrid MAX models, and 3,500 pounds for Hybrid grades.
Model Lineup Changes and Pricing
For the 2027 model year, Toyota has discontinued the Hybrid Nightshade Edition and Hybrid MAX Limited grades. Other Grand Highlander trims receive updates, such as the Hybrid MAX Platinum grade, which now features black finishes for its grille mesh, hood trim, roof rails, window trim, mirror caps, and shark fin antenna. Gas-powered Platinum grades will receive a new wheel design.
Additionally, XLE gas and hybrid models will now include a standard heated steering wheel and 18-inch dark gray painted finish wheels. The 2027 Grand Highlander models are assembled in Princeton, Indiana. Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for gas models starts at $42,560 for the LE FWD grade, while hybrid models begin at $45,910 for the LE grade, excluding dealer processing and handling fees.
The introduction of the 2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Woodland Edition expands the model's appeal to buyers seeking more rugged styling and outdoor-oriented features. These updates, alongside powertrain choices and interior refinements, aim to maintain the Grand Highlander's position in the three-row SUV segment.
