Subaru of America, Inc. reported a significant increase in vehicle sales for May 2026, with a 10.4 percent rise compared to the same month last year. The company delivered 57,748 vehicles in total, marking a period of growth driven by strong performance from key models and record-setting electric and hybrid vehicle sales. This positive trend for Subaru May 2026 sales indicates continued consumer interest in the brand's offerings.

Sales Performance Highlights

The Forester maintained its position as Subaru's top-selling model for the fifth consecutive month, with 19,577 units sold. This represents a substantial 26.8 percent increase over May of the previous year. The Crosstrek also achieved a notable milestone, recording its best May sales ever with 17,409 vehicles delivered, an increase of 10.2 percent.

The Outback contributed to the overall sales figures with 11,258 units sold, showing a slight increase of 0.4 percent. These models collectively underscore the brand's continued appeal in the competitive automotive market.

Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Growth

May 2026 marked a new record for Subaru's hybrid and electric vehicle sales, which collectively accounted for nearly 25 percent of all vehicles sold. This growth was fueled by the strong performance of hybrid variants of the Crosstrek and Forester, which together achieved the best-ever monthly sales for Subaru's hybrid lineup.

In the electric vehicle segment, the Trailseeker sold 1,074 units, while the Uncharted, now in its second month on the market, reached 1,270 units sold. This indicates a growing consumer adoption of Subaru's electrified models, aligning with broader industry trends towards sustainable transportation.

Individual Model Performance and Market Context

While several models saw strong performance, others experienced declines in May 2026. The Ascent sold 3,293 units, a decrease of 7.2 percent, and the BRZ saw 255 units sold, down 21.8 percent. The Impreza's sales were 1,577 units, a 35.8 percent reduction, and the Legacy experienced a significant drop to 90 units, down 94.9 percent.

The Solterra, Subaru's all-electric SUV, sold 750 units, a 39.8 percent decrease from the previous year. Conversely, the WRX sport sedan saw a substantial increase, with 1,195 units sold, marking a 147.9 percent rise. Despite the strong Subaru May 2026 sales, the year-to-date total sales for the brand stand at 252,431 units, an 8.3 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

Subaru's May 2026 sales figures demonstrate a clear shift towards electrified vehicles and continued demand for its popular SUV models. Prospective buyers considering a Subaru will find a growing range of hybrid and electric options, alongside established gasoline-powered vehicles.
