Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) reported total vehicle sales of 52,733 units for April 2026, representing a 5.9 percent decrease compared to April 2025. Year-to-date sales for 2026 reached 194,683 vehicles, a 12.7 percent reduction from the same period last year. Despite the overall decline in Subaru April 2026 sales, specific models and the company's electric vehicle lineup demonstrated notable growth.

April Sales Performance Highlights

The Forester continued its strong performance, maintaining its position as the volume leader for the fourth consecutive month with 17,837 units sold in April 2026. This model remains a key contributor to Subaru's sales figures, even as its individual sales saw a slight decrease compared to the previous year.

The Crosstrek achieved its best April sales ever, with 15,667 vehicles delivered during the month. This represents a 4.9 percent increase over April 2025, highlighting consistent demand for the compact SUV. The Outback also contributed significantly, recording 10,552 sales in April 2026.

Other models experienced varied results, with the WRX showing a substantial 52.6 percent increase to 1,178 units. Conversely, models like the Legacy, Impreza, and Ascent saw decreases in their April 2026 sales figures compared to the prior year.

Electric Vehicle Sales Reach New Highs

Subaru's family of electric vehicles collectively achieved its best sales month ever, with a total of 2,053 units sold in April 2026. This record includes sales from the Solterra, as well as the newly introduced Trailseeker and Uncharted models. The Solterra alone accounted for 1,128 sales, an 18.9 percent increase from April 2025.

The Trailseeker and Uncharted models began reaching retailer locations during April, contributing 406 and 519 units to the total EV sales, respectively. The introduction of these new electric vehicles is expanding Subaru's presence in the growing EV market.

Executive Commentary and Brand Focus

Jeff Walters, President and Chief Operating Officer for Subaru of America, Inc., noted the ongoing demand for vehicles that offer affordability, capability, and safety. He emphasized the strength of Subaru's diverse lineup, which includes gas, hybrid, and electric options like the Crosstrek, Forester, Outback, and the new Trailseeker and Uncharted models. The company also received recognition on Forbes’ Best Brands for Social Impact list for the fourth consecutive year, reflecting its community engagement efforts.

Troy Poston, Senior Vice President of Sales, highlighted that customers continue to seek Subaru vehicles engineered with advanced safety features, innovative technologies, and dependability. He also acknowledged the role of retailers in supporting the Subaru Share the Love® Event, which contributes to local communities and builds customer trust beyond vehicle transactions.

These Subaru April 2026 sales figures present a mixed picture, with an overall sales dip but strong performances from key models and the electric vehicle segment. For current and prospective Subaru owners, the report indicates continued availability of popular models and an expanding range of electric options, aligning with evolving market demands.
