Honda Aircraft Company announced the completion of the first wing structure for its HondaJet Echelon test unit. This development marks a significant step for the program, which is now targeting its first flight in 2028 and type certification and initial deliveries in 2031. Development Progress and Timeline
Currently, five wing structures for the HondaJet Echelon are in various stages of final assembly. Mainline final assembly for the aircraft is targeted to begin in early 2027. Equipment qualification is also ongoing to support the declaration of safety of flight.
Structural testing activities have advanced, with key component tests already completed. System integration efforts are continuing through Honda Aircraft's Integrated Test Facility, where a fully operational cockpit test environment supports active integration campaigns. A second cockpit is being commissioned to evaluate key aircraft systems before the test aircraft takes flight.

Echelon Features and Manufacturing
The HondaJet Echelon is designed to feature a larger cabin and increased passenger capacity compared to the current HA-420 model. It is intended to be the world's first single-pilot certified light jet capable of U.S. transcontinental range.
The aircraft is planned to incorporate foundational technologies, including Honda Aircraft Company's Over the Wing Engine Mount, a composite fuselage, and advanced avionics. Key features will include Auto Throttle, Emergency Autoland, Autobrake, Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS), and the Advanced Steering Augmentation System (ASAS).
Preliminary specifications for the HondaJet Echelon include two Williams International FJ44-4C engines. The configuration allows for one crew and 10 passengers or two crew and nine passengers. Target performance includes an NBAA IFR Range of 2,625 nm (with one crew and four passengers), a maximum cruise speed of 450 KTAS, and a maximum cruise altitude of FL470.
Manufacturing activities have accelerated, with over 70% of the parts required for first assembly now on hand. More than 88,400 square feet have been provisioned for the Echelon's manufacturing operations.
Market Interest and Future Outlook
Customer interest in the HondaJet Echelon remains strong, with over 530 signed letters of intent globally. This reflects the value customers see in the aircraft's planned combination of range, comfort, and single-pilot capability.
