Acura Aims for First GTP Win at Road America Endurance Race

Acura is targeting its inaugural IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship victory in the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class at Road America. The upcoming SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix on August 2, 2026, presents an opportunity for the manufacturer to secure a win in the top-tier prototype category at the Wisconsin circuit, a track where Acura has a significant history of success in other classes.

Acura's Road America History and Current Challenge

Acura's last victory at Road America occurred in 2022, when the Acura ARX-05, driven by Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque, claimed the top spot. Ricky Taylor had also secured a win for Acura at the circuit in 2020 with co-driver Helio Castroneves. Despite these past successes, Acura has yet to achieve a victory in the GTP class at Road America since its introduction in 2023.

In both 2024 and the previous year, Acura entries started from pole position and finished third in the two-hour and 40-minute Road America event. The manufacturer is now focused on converting these strong qualifying and podium finishes into a GTP class win during the extended six-hour endurance race format for 2026.

The 2026 SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix Entries

For the 2026 SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America, Acura will field two hybrid-powered Acura ARX-06 machines under the Acura Meyer Shank Racing banner. The #60 car will be piloted by Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun, a duo who previously secured a second-place finish at Road America in 2023.

The sister #93 Acura ARX-06 will be driven by Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloly. This pairing recently achieved a podium finish at another six-hour endurance event at Watkins Glen. Van der Zande and Yelloly also claimed pole position and a third-place finish at Road America last year. The #93 team has already secured a race win this season at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.
