Purpose of the Special Notice

This Special Notice was issued to facilitate the prompt receipt of credit for returned parts and to enhance the quality of parts supplied to customers. It specifically targeted certain Audi Q5 roof rail parts that were manufactured prior to defined generation levels. By returning these older generation parts, Audi aimed to streamline its parts distribution and inventory management.

Affected Audi Q5 Roof Rail Parts and Generation Levels

Dealers were instructed to return specific Audi Q5 roof rail parts based on their material numbers and generation levels. The affected material numbers include:

• 80A-860-021-F -1P9 (Roof Rail)
• 80A-860-021-G -1P9
• 80A-860-022-E -1P9
• 80A-860-021-H -3Q7
• 80A-860-021-J -3Q7
• 80A-860-022-F -3Q7

The return requirement applied to parts manufactured prior to the following generation levels:

• For Color Code 1P9, parts with a generation level older than 04S needed to be returned.
• For Color Code 3Q7, parts with a generation level older than 02S needed to be returned.

These generation levels and color codes can be identified on the part labels, as illustrated in the Special Notice. For example, a label for part 80A860022E 1P9 shows
