Audi has issued Warranty Policies and Procedures Bulletin AWA-24-04, announcing a limited warranty extension for the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system. This extension addresses a diagnosed and confirmed malfunction of the vehicle’s AEB system that results from a failure of its control unit, camera(s), LIDAR, and/or sensor(s).
The Audi AEB system malfunction can affect various 2021-2023 Audi models, providing owners with coverage for specific repairs. This bulletin modifies the Audi Warranty Policies and Procedures Manual.
What is Covered by the Warranty Extension?
Effective May 16, 2024, the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for eligible vehicles will be extended for an additional 12 months or 12,000 miles beyond the original warranty's expiration. This extension covers 75% of the repair cost for a confirmed Audi AEB system malfunction related to the AEB system's control unit, camera(s), LIDAR, and/or sensor(s) that enable automatic emergency braking functionality.
For vehicles where the New Vehicle Limited Warranty had already expired by May 16, 2024, the warranty extension period will last until November 16, 2024.
Exclusions from Coverage
This warranty extension does not cover all types of damage or malfunctions. Specifically excluded are any issues resulting from abuse, alteration, modification, collision, crash, vandalism, or other impacts. Damage due to movement, displacement of, or damage to the AEB sensors, as well as problems caused by weather, environmental conditions, or any outside source or factor, are also not covered.
Vehicle Eligibility
To determine if your Audi vehicle is eligible for this Limited Warranty Extension, dealers must check the VIN in the Elsa system under "Vehicle Data." An eligible vehicle will display "Warranty Key U71" in the "Warranty" section of the screen.
Reimbursement for Previous Repairs
Owners who, prior to May 16, 2024, paid out-of-pocket for a repair to correct an Audi AEB system malfunction may be eligible for reimbursement. This applies if the repair occurred within 12 months or 12,000 miles (whichever came first) after the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty expired. Eligible customers can submit a claim for 75% reimbursement of the paid invoice amount for one repair or replacement. This reimbursement process is handled exclusively by the Settlement Claim Administrator, not by Audi.
For questions regarding reimbursement, including how to submit a claim, owners should contact the Settlement Claim Administrator at 1-833-637-2922 or visit www.AEBSettlement.com. This website provides detailed information, including copies of the Class Notice.
