Hood shakes / flutters violently at highway speeds. Problem has persisted for the first 10,000 miles of driving and presents a safety hazard from fatigue weakening the hood to the point of failure.

Exploded sunroof with no apparent debris hitting it. No vehicles around and clear sky’s. Dealer said that something most have hit it and suggested I use comprehensive part of insurance. The assembly and slide was damaged while trying to clear glass. First estimate is $4,165. Reports that even though windshield was not damaged, this also needs replaced and recalibrated. Sounds strange to replace a windshield when there is no damage to it. Upwards break suggest explosion and not hit with debris.

My concerns are with the remote capabilities of this Toyota Tacoma that has been lent to us by the i5 dealership in chehalis wa. We are using this vehicle while they complete repairs on our truck. Home link, Apple Music, remote connect, Sirius XM, and other functionalities are being used for surveillance, stalking, spying and remotely unlocking the vehicle. The truck has been broken into at least 3 times, twice my debit cards were stolen and the other time a sd card was put into the truck. Initially I believed this could’ve been something I inadvertently did but when I saw the pictures on the card I knew this wasn’t the case. My family and I have been under attack by a dod vendor, [XXX] , who is putting forth an extraordinary effort to criminally impersonate me by linking all of my families electronic devices to a LAN that is managed by him. The LAN allows him to then add mdm to the individual devices and he has restricted me from obtaining any help with his intrusions for the last two years. Issues such as this, that should be easily addressed, become monumental tasks. I attempted to submit this report 2 times last night to no avail. I then called in to the number and was told they don’t take reports of this nature and that I should call the manufacturer. A google search told me this claim was untrue, so here I am, back here attempting to once again complete the report. For someone who wants nothing other than my demise to have control over a vehicle I’m being forced to drive is cause for great concern. I do not know what other automations he has enabled but I can also see that the homelink has also been set up in some capacity. The screen in the truck states that my speed and location may not be accurately reflected on other displays. There appear to be WiFi and hotspot connections that we have been unsuccessful connecting to, which is fine..but their mere presence concern me. Hood bounces up and down while driving and gets worse at highway speeds. I am concerned that the hood will open up and block visibility which would be dangerous.

ONLY 1 catalytic converter cover is on my truck. This could cause a fire in tall grass or combustible areas. Not everyone goes to parks for picnics or parties where there is taller grasses. This could start a forest fire if the weather is just hot and dry. Every Car or truck I owned with a catalytic converter had a cover on each of them. Dealer said that's the way it came from the factory. Doing some research the cover was missing on the right side of other trucks. Mine is missing the Left drivers side. Brake booster failure. When pressing and holding onto brake, it makes a buzzing/clicking noise. Just like the toyota prius brake booster recall/failure. Toyota claimed to be normal.

My 2023 Toyota Tacoma creates an error message on my console screen "A Malfunction in the SRS Airbag System has been detected. Contact your Toyota dealer to have your vehicle inspected." In 2024, the first error message appeared. Same as above. By January 2025, there also appeared a red indicator light on the dashboard displaying something about the seat belt or airbag. It stayed continually on. I took it to the Lonestar Toyota dealership and they told me the airbags were considered part of the drive train and the issue was still under warranty. They returned my pick up to me while we ordered the airbag parts they needed to fix the issue. The parts arrived in February and on Thursday, February 20th I dropped off my vehicle and picked it up on Friday, February 28. When I picked up the tacoma, the notes on the invoice said, "Tech replaced the passenger side airbag, airbag light is off." Later that evening, the error message on the console screen returned. Same as above, "A malfunction in the SRS airbag system has been detected. Contact your Toyota dealer to have your vehicle inspected." On Monday morning, March 3 I returned the 2023 Toyota Tacoma and left it there for a week when I picked it up the following Monday, March 10th. This invoice said, "could not duplicate customer concern at this time". Even though the error message was not on the Console screen by the time I took it to the service department it was still visible within the notification history. The very next Wednesday, March 12th, the error message on the console screen appeared once again, and I arrived at the dealership within the hour with the error message still within the history, even though it was not on the main console screen. The notes on this last invoice states, "history of airbag system malfunction was cleared. The computer was reset and no message is currently populating." I picked up my vehicle March 21. This morning, Monday, March 24 the same error message.

I have a 2022 white Toyota Tacoma trd4x4. The paint is chipping in the inside fender on the left side. I did some research and looks like there was a recall for this very issue and that Toyota was reimbursing for the repairs. I called Toyota today and they said that I’m vin doesn’t fall in that recall. A vehicle that is less that 3 years old new shouldn’t have the paint chipping. I don’t drive the vehicle much and don’t use it in extreme conditions. They refused to help and stated I’m out of warranty. The recall was for the same issue I am having on all white tacomas on the inner fender and window areas. They didn’t want to help because my white is not the same code. But thought it was funny because it’s the same issue, same color and defective in the same place. On top of that, paint shouldn’t chip in 3 years from new to now when the vehicle has been garage kept and has only 20k miles. I would really appreciate you guys opening an investigation on this please. Thank you!

- #11646542March 5, 2025STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
Lane keeping will kamikaze the vehicle on to exit ramps or exit only lanes when engaged at a highway speed. This seems most common when the truncated lane markers, usually used on exit-only lanes, and not the full length lane markers (the center line markings). Example: Vehicle is traveling at a static heading, freeway speed, two lane limited access freeway, driver in control, all lane keeping and adaptive features engaged. When an exit lane approaches on right, vehicle abruptly deviates to the exit lane with zero driver intent or inputs. Once vehicle system realizes the error, system alerts, notifies of a lane departure, and disables the lane keeping. Particularly problematic is that vehicle actively fights driver inputs to restore the intended course as it appears to believe the driver is in error. This is not a one-off occurrence. It is very consistent. To the point when I can anticipate, disable the system or counter steer to keep the vehicle course straight. It seems the vehicle cannot properly identify the shortened / truncated pavement markings correctly, leading to this undesirable course adjustment.

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, another vehicle failed to stop at a red light. Consequently, the other vehicle collided with the vehicle on the passenger's side door and front quarter panel, sending the vehicle careening and nearly tipping over before coming to a complete stop. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who submitted a request to the manufacturer to have an engineer inspect the vehicle. The engineer reviewed the incident recorder and informed the contact that the air bags did not deploy because the occupancy sensor did not detect a passenger. The contact disputed the findings, stating that her son was occupying the passenger seat and had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact was transported to an area hospital by EMT and treated for back pain. She later followed up with her primary care physician and neurosurgeon who located a tear just below where a previous surgery was performed stating that the tear was not present as of her most recent evaluation before the accident. The contact stated that she previously had back surgery to repair and/or remove discs L3, L4, and L5. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The contact was later informed by the manufacturer that there was no data from the incident recorder on the date of the collision. The failure mileage was 24,000.

Known issue of paint peeling around the window frame on white vehicles. However, Toyota indicates that this VIN is not affected by this reported issue. They cannot explain why and deny it could be happening based on the VIN number alone.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The "coolant bypass hose/joint" (Part #: 16356-31051) located at the rear of the engine, connecting the two heads, failed. This part is made of plastic and is known to be a weak point in the 3.5L V6 (2GR-FKS) engine. The failed component is still in the vehicle and can be inspected upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A coolant leak from this component can lead to engine overheating, which could cause sudden engine failure while driving, increasing the risk of an accident. Since the leak is not easily visible under the hood, a driver may not notice the issue until significant overheating occurs, potentially leaving them stranded in unsafe conditions. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the issue was confirmed by the dealership after an inspection. They identified the coolant bypass hose/joint as the source of the leak. Many users on the forum TacomaWorld have also experienced the same issue with their vehicles. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle was inspected by the dealership, but it has not been inspected by Toyota directly, the police, or an insurance representative. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages indicating a problem. The only symptom was a small puddle of coolant on the ground a week after purchasing the vehicle. Upon further inspection, a trail of coolant was observed running down onto the passenger side of the transmission bell housing. Would've costed me 1,000 dollars if didn't have warranty.

The vehicle lane departure will regularly steer the vehicle across lane dividing lines and leave the lane of travel. In one instance the truck continued to attempt to steer right even after crossing the white line. This complaint and specific instances were confirmed by the manufacturer however the manufacturer claims the vehicle is behaving as expected due to “limitations”. As such Toyota is saying the vehicle is going to regularly depart the lane automatically and they do not intend to perform nor pursue any fix.

There is currently a safety recall on my vehicle that has no remedy available. There is a risk of having brake hoses rupturing and losing braking fluid, causing a no brakes situations and high risk for an accident. I reached out to the dealership and was provided with no information on how to resolve the situation, but was referred to their company's headquarters. Once I reached out to their representative, I was informed that the estimated time to provide a potential repair would be about 3 months. Essentially I was given the option of either driving the vehicle and expose myself and others to a vehicle incident or store my vehicle until there is a remedy provided, but still incur the costs of the vehicle, namely paying the vehicle loan.

A txdot road work crew had traffic stopped on the highway. We were last in a row of traffic when a distracted, driver, traveling near full highway speed rear-ended us. The truck automatically connected us to an agent who called 911. The message screen showed 2 warnings which said seatbelt malfunction and airbag malfunction. My husband and I both sustained injuries from the forward force against the seat belts to his abdomen and my shoulder, both of which required surgical repair. The airbags did not deploy. The truck was a total loss. A police report was filed but I do not have a copy.
