Moon roof spontaneously shattered while driving. No impact from any object caused this, no other vehicles around and vehicle was only at 5 MPH at time of shattering. It’s as if the glass just shattered outwards from inside the cabin of the vehicle. Showered driver with glass and could have caused injury especially if glass fell into eyes.

1.Air conditioning - evaporator drain hose is not connected and that’s why it’s pouring water into the passenger side, and there is mold and odor, per Toyota of Montgomery. Available for inspection. 2.Mold is health hazard - increased migraines and respiratory issues. 3.Issue found and confirmed by Toyota of Montgomery, after repeated complaints that AC wasn't working properly during regular service visits. Audio of this information from Service Manager. 4.To my knowledge the problem has existed since purchased (brand new). I happened to discover the water [XXX]. Odor has been there almost the whole time I have owned the car. There have been no warnings, messages, recalls or notification that the problem existed. Contacted Toyota Manufacturing [XXX] , waiting for call back at this time. Note: I have audio recordings of dealerships' employees including GM, Service Manager, Sales Manager, Salesman and service personnel. I don't know how to load them here from my phone. Safety issue: "Engine Stopped/Started: Due to Steering Power Low" Yesterday, it was heavy rain. My new 2022 RAV4 shut down and would not start due to the warning sign "Steering Power Low." I restarted a few times, but the whole car was jerking and the rpm's were fluttering up and down. The yellow check engine light and the orange warning signs, followed by an exclamation point, came on, along with the messages "Engine Stopped Steering Power Low" and "Not Ready to Drive." then shut down the car. I called for a pickup instead and was not able to start the car until the next day. It was so terrifying, and I was fortunate that the accident did not occur. What would happen if it were to happen as I or other RAV4 owners were in the middle of the road or nowhere for help? As I looked up problems with the new RAV4 online, other RAV4 owners had the same issues, with zero diagnosed reports from Toyota dealers (see links below). [XXX] [XXX] This is a safety concern; I'd be happier that the accidents have not happened yet. So, I urge the Toyota manufacturer to investigate the issue, rectify it, and start making a recall of the 2019–2024 RAV4 to fix the problems before an accident occurs. On 11/15/23 I went to Byers Toyota Dealership and asked them to check my car due to the gas smell inside of the car when driven and outside of my car when parked for a longer period of time. The smell is coming from the rear. The car also has a very strong gas smell when the tank is open to pump gas. I did not notice any leaks. On the visit on 11/1523, they fixed the leaking evaporator according to your bulletin from May 2023 to alleviate the burning oil smell coming from my car’s HVAC heater. They also checked the fuel pump and told me that I have the correct one and it should function as designed. The service advisor told me that the gas smell is exhaust fumes and it is normal for Toyota type of engine. They did not have any explanation for the fuel smell when my car is parked. Since the smell was still present, I scheduled another appointment at the dealership on 1/3/24, they kept my car overnight but they were not able to duplicate any of my concerns. I did not contact Toyota Customer Care because they can be very unpleasant if the dealership cannot duplicate the problem.

- #11566778January 21, 2024SUSPENSION, POWER TRAIN, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Car loses traction over minor imperfections in the road. When braking and dropping speeds to 20-30 MPH, car will lose traction over imperfection in the road, causing the ABS to engage. The car shutters and grinds/vibrates until traction is regained. With an AWD system, a minor 6-inch drop in the road due to a pot hole or dip should not cause traction to be lost. The car consistently loses traction when braking and 1 tire runs over imperfection in the road (pot hole, dip, uneven pavement, etc.). If car drives over speed bump (which keeps tires aligned), car does not lose traction. Issue is only present if 1 tire different than the other 3 which shows instability of the vehicle. Issue has been verified by manufacturer and has shown up in the car log. Dealer said that the car recorded a loss of traction 4 times in the last month. Issue has been escalated to Toyota corporate and they do not see the sensitivity of the traction control as an issue. Issue has been persistent since the purchase of the car in early 2023. All components on the car are OEM and have only been looked at by Toyota dealers. Multiple online forums have shown that other owners face the same issues. Video proof of the issue can be provided.

The power lift gate sometimes closes all by itself when you're leaning inside. When that happens, I need to push-up on it to make it stop but then it'll start to close again all by itself. It doesn't make any difference whether you're leaning inside or you're just standing there; It sometimes starts Closing. This usually happens when it opens only half way and I have to go back and push it up manually.

None of the doors has puddle/ courtesy lights which can cause hazard situation when doors need to open in dark environment. Those lights when available alerts oncoming vehicles pedestrians or cyclists. Oncoming vehicles cyclists at danger of poor visibility if the doors open. There use to be lights on all 4 doors few years ago on any motor vehicle. Then certain manufacturers made them available only on front doors. Now they are all gone from all doors at least in the car I have. In my opinion this should be a safety requirement. Kindly evaluate and see if what I mention make sense. It was a simple technology which may have prevent certain hazardous situation.

I had my 2021 RAV4 Hybrid in for a routine oil change at 59,150 miles. I have maintained this vehicle in accordance with Toyota's recommendations since purchasing it brand new. During their inspection, it was noted by the Toyota mechanic that the timing cover was already seeping, way before it ever should be for this age and mileage of vehicle. The dealership mechanic did not recommend anything be done at this time since it wasn't an "active leak", even though seepage will turn into a leak. They denied my request for them to inspect the gaskets and look for cracks in the timing cover while my vehicle is still covered under warranty. While they would not say why they refused to honor my request, I assume it is because my warranty is set to expire when my vehicle reaches 60,000 miles (only 850 more miles from then) and they want me to have to pay $3500 of my own money instead of theirs after my warranty expires. It is unsafe for me to continue to drive this vehicle due to the fact that a timing cover leak can be a serious issue for my vehicle. The timing cover helps protect the timing belt, which is crucial for the proper operation of the engine. If the gasket is leaking, it can lead to oil loss, potential engine damage, and even engine failure if not addressed promptly. There were not any warning lamps that indicated to me that there was an issue.

I found out my RAV4 had a recall on passenger side airbag that could not be fixed, and it would be in the third quarter of this year before it could be fixed if then. I asked if I could get a good deal on a new RAV4, for a discount since I had just quit my job and sold my house and planned to leave this area. My grandson lives with me and travels with me so now I don’t trust my car. I only found out about the recall when I took my car in for service. I called Toyota and spoke to Tina Stubbs, who said she would see what she could do on getting me a discount on a new RAV4 like mine. My car is in perfect condition except for this, so I never considered trading it in until this happened. Tina was supposed to contact me by this evening, which has not happened. I am staying in a motel until I can get something settled. I have owned Toyotas since 1996, and never had a complaint until now. I don’t trust driving my car with a passenger now. My case number is [XXX] . This happened [XXX]. I just want a newer car at a discount since I bought this SUV in good faith. Hopefully I can get this situation settled quickly. My name is [XXX] , [XXX] . Tina Stubbs is my case manager. Thank you for any help you can give me. Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am an owner of new 2023 RAV4 and believe some of the newer 2023 & 2024 Toyota Rav4 models with ICE (non-hybrid) have a potentially dangerous defect with the transmission system, which causes these cars to jerk and stutter when the gas pedal is lightly depressed (light acceleration) when the car speed is between 15 and 40 mph and tachometer is between 1500 and 2500 RPM. The reason I believe this defect is potentially dangerous is that a few weeks ago I was going through a school zone with an active 20mph limit, and when trying to keep the speed at 20mph, experienced jerkiness, RPM jump and sudden speed bouncing (momentary jerking from lower to faster and back to lower speeds a few times in a row). Typically this issue is a lot more subtle but occasionally it is so bad that I have a momentary feeling of loosing control over the speed of the car and active school zone is the least place I'd like that to happen. Besides, these stutters are pretty bad disturbers when they occur drawing focus away from the road and onto the car itself, since it does feel like the car is about to stall. I have visited the dealership twice regarding this concern, however since these stuttering have a random nature I was not able to replicate the issue during my visits to the dealership. I have also passed this concern to Toyota USA Corporate office and they in fact have acknowledged that they received numerous complaints on the same matter and suspect the issue is in the newer 8 speed transmission system they are now installing. Unfortunately there has been no further action taken by Toyota to remedy this issue, although they are fully aware of it. Hoping you get more complains on this matter and force Toyota to take action. Thank you!

The contact's wife owns a 2021 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH in an intersection, a Ford F-150 was crashed into head-on. The vehicle's front end collided with the Ford vehicle but the air bags did not deploy. The Ford vehicle did a 180 during the impact and its air bags deployed. The contact sustained 2 herniated discs in the 212 and L1 that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a collision center where it was diagnosed that the front air bag sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but a callback was not completed The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

The engine block cracked and started leaking coolant. It is clearly a defective manufacturing of the block casting. The same engine was recalled several months before mine, but my manufacturing date fell just outside of the range they recalled in the same year. The problem was confirmed by Price Leblanc Toyota in Baton Rouge, LA, a new short block was installed and I was left footing the bill because Toyota Corp denies responsibility for it even though it is only 3 years old and has had ALL maintenance done through the dealerships. The initial coolant leak was first noticed on 10/17/2023. The vehicle repairs were completed by Price Leblanc Toyota and picked up on 12/13/2023.

I was driving on the highway there was no cars in front or next to me, it was warm outside about noon the sun was out and I heard a loud bang and a minute later another loud bang, I thought it was a balloon that popped that was in my car and I pulled over and when I saw none of the balloons had popped I thought it was a soda can that exploded in the trunk but I saw they were all intact. When I got home, that is when I noticed the sunroof shattered and it was tented up. Toyota wouldn't honor the warranty, it took 4 days for the dealership to try to find blame on me.

The vehicle several occasions been unresponsive to accelerate. This has happened on two separate occasions (days) in which the vehicle would not accelerate. The first occurrence was right after I purchased the car and drove it the first full day I owned it in September 2023. The second time was on Saturday December 16, 2023. When the vehicle is driven under 40 mph such as slowing for a turn, braking for a traffic light, picking up speed to enter onto a highway this problem occurs. It is when the gas is pressed down to accelerate, the vehicle does not respond by increasing the speed. The RPM's would go really high and the vehicle would receive the gas but would not "shift" and felt stuck. And the transmission was very loud. It felt like the vehicle transmission was slipping or not engaging/shifting. Adding more gas was not beneficial. The gas pedal could be pressed down to the floor and the vehicle was not responsive by shifting "gears" or picking up speed. The vehicle would not accelerate above 20 mph and the RPMs would go up. No lights or warnings were produced. The only way to get the vehicle to act normally once again was to pull the car over into a safe location, shift the car into park, shut the car off, wait for a few seconds, restart the car and proceed. In one session (driving the same day) the car repeated the inability to accelerate each time the vehicle was slowed down below 40 mph to come to a stop at a stop sign, take a turn, stop at a traffic light etc. This was dangerous as I was not able to proceed in traffic and caused other drivers to honk their horns at me, and left me stuck in intersections. This was very disconcerting and left me feeling endangered by not being able to follow the flow of traffic. Toyota Service did a diagnostic test on it twice now. The first time had torque converter codes. This 2nd time they claim there were no codes on the diagnostic test. They dropped the transmission pan and found no metal shavings.
