SummaryDE: Toyota has received customer reports of certain 2019-2021 model year RAV4 HV vehicle fuel gauges displaying less than full and/or total fuel dispensed is less than expected, when the fuel nozzle automatically clicks off. Some customer reports have also noted the ?Distance to Empty? shown on the multi-information display is less than expected. Based on our investigation, Toyota believes these conditions to be primarily related to a variation of fuel tank shape and the potential for the fuel sender gauge to become inclined. These conditions can cause the fuel level to be read incorrectly and may cause the low fuel light to illuminate with more fuel in the tank than usual. Although the fuel tank and fuel sender gauge unit are covered by Toyota?s New Vehicle Limited Warranty for normal Basic Warranty coverage period, 3 years or 36,000 miles (whichever comes first), we at Toyota care about the customers? ownership experience. Toyota is providing coverage for repairs related to refueling performance concerns. Note: Fuel tanks are covered under the normal California Emissions Control Warranty period, 7 years or 70,000 miles (whichever comes first), for the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.+

SummaryTSB: Some 2019 ? 2021 model year RAV4 Hybrid vehicles may experience one or both of the following conditions: ?The fuel gauge displays less than full when the fuel nozzle automatically clicks off. ?The total amount of fuel dispensed while refueling is less than expected when the fuel nozzle automatically clicks off. Additionally, the distance to empty mileage displayed on the Multi-Information Display (MID) may be less than expected. To address these concerns a new fuel tank and fuel sender gauge were developed. Based on production location and timing, some vehicles may already have the updated fuel tank and/or fuel sender gauge installed. In cases where these vehicles exhibit this condition only replace the necessary pre-countermeasure part. Refer to the Production Change Information section in this bulletin to identify which group the vehicle belongs to and follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address these conditions.

SummaryTSB: A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and service life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required in order to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life. As a matter of policy, Toyota does not provide battery warranty coverage for discharged and/or failed batteries due to lack of maintenance. It is the dealer?s responsibility to maintain the specified State-Of-Charge (SOC) of the vehicle?s battery while in stock and ensure proper SOC at delivery.
