Car purchased new from Toyota dealer. Picked up [XXX]. Immediately found faulty problems with interior and exterior of car. No quality control or post delivery checks were conducted. Car brought back to dealer the next working day ([XXX]) and spent a week there but repairs were not attempted. Complaint filed with Toyota USA headquarters and request for them to take the car back and give refund on July 1st. Car infotainment system blacks out, dashboard is warped and speakers are coming out of their place on dashboard. Steering wheel is puckering. Toyota headquarters said it will open a case to look into it. The car had less than 100miles on it. On July 26th I log into the Toyota complaints website to add more information and find that the case status is “closed” and no one is reachable to contact at the Toyota headquarters. [XXX] as I am driving the car on a main highway, the car suddenly completely stops without any warning. Engine light is on. “Hybrid system malfunction” and car brakes stop working. My life was threatened by this unreliable dangerous new car and car had to be towed back to dealer. Car never switched on again after that. A service department supervisor at the Toyota dealer (Pauly Toyota in Illinois) mentioned to me at the beginning of July that usually, new cars delivered to the dealer need to be inspected but pauly Toyota does not employ these special inspectors and instead “a regular mechanic does a look over”. He also said this model of Toyota (Corolla cross hybrid) is new and the team is not familiar with its repairs and parts need pre ordering as none can be available for such a new model. I relayed this information to Toyota headquarters on July 1st and again on July 26th but was told both times “Toyota trusts its dealers with the repairs”. My life was put in danger and this was preventable. Toyota USA refuse to do a recall on this vehicle when it is dangerous and not fit to be a car for humans. On [XXX], and again on [XXX], vehicle began beeping while driving on the freeway and flashing the following warning messages: 1) 12-Volt Battery Charging - System Malfunction - Stop in a Safe Place - See Owner's Manual 2) AWD System Malfunction - 2WD Mode Engaged - Visit your Dealer 3) Voltage Abnormality - Steering Power Low - Visit Your Dealer Vehicle shut down and lost power steering while driving on the freeway. My safety was put at risk as I could not easily pull my car over to a safe place due to the car losing power, not turning back on, and power steering turning off. This may have resulted in severe injury or death if I had not been able to eventually pull over. Additionally, the safety of others was put at risk as we were travelling at freeway-level speed, which may have resulted in other vehicles being unable to stop, and consequently crash, if my car had stayed in the freeway lane. Both times I had the vehicle towed to Beaverton Toyota Dealership (Address: 4300 SW Murray Blvd, Beaverton, OR 97005 / Phone: (503) 626-7200) to be inspected and serviced. The first time I was told it was a bad battery cell, which was replaced on 07/26/25. However, the same situation happened after this replacement on 07/27/25. Currently, vehicle is at Beaverton Toyota dealership being inspected. Vehicle was purchased at Wilsonville Toyota (Address: 9155 Boeckman Rd, Wilsonville, OR 97070 / Phone: (503) 582-9040). - #11676613July 28, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
This is a safety concern: 2025 Toyota Corolla cross with no damage history and happening since brand new. 1) Lane keeping: there are 2 types, one with cruise control and one without. For the one with cruise control, the system has a hard time tracking center and shoulder lines and OFTEN pulls in the wrong direction. This is ESPECIALLY true in certain circumstances and the vehicle has almost caused a collision several times, with both the owner and other Toyota-experienced drivers, necessitating turning off this feature. When the road is a rural one, without center or shoulder lines, the car OFTEN pulls (“assists” or “corrects”) in the wrong direction and twice has pulled the offending vehicle onto the soft curb. Dealer reviewed it and noted this is expected behavior, they recommended turning it off. This is less common on roads with white and yellow lines, but DOES happen if the vehicle is driven too close to the white line and the vehicle sometimes pulls towards the shoulder. 2) Auto-braking. Often when going around a curved turn from 30-55 MPH, the brakes sometimes deploy (usually without aural warning.) This is usually with a left curve, while driving in the right lane. Service manager drove the vehicle and thought this aberrant but tech AND Toyota rep noted this was expected behavior, Several times these safety features have caused near rear-end collisions and off-road incidents and COULD cause a head-on . Dealer recommendation is to simply turn it off.

I was driving on I-290 toward Chicago when traffic began to slow. I also began slowing down when I was suddenly rear-ended by the vehicle behind me at a high speed. My car sustained significant rear-end damage, including a crushed bumper and a detached exhaust pipe that was dragging on the ground. The other vehicle involved was totaled. Police arrived on the scene and determined the other driver was at fault. While waiting for the tow truck, multiple tow personnel commented that, based on the severity and location of the impact, the airbags should have deployed — but they did not. I did not receive any warning lights, alerts, or messages before or after the impact. I did not hit my head, but it was a real possibility given the force of the crash, and I believe this created a serious safety risk. I purchased this vehicle in large part due to its reputation for safety, and in this situation, I felt unprotected. At this point, the vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer or manufacturer, but the police and insurance companies have been involved. I am concerned that the failure of the airbag system to deploy represents a defect or malfunction in the safety system. I am willing to make the vehicle available for inspection if needed.

- #11670955July 2, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On July 2, 2025, while driving at approximately 8:35 PM my 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross suddenly and unexpectedly came to a complete stop. The vehicle's Pre-Collision System (PCS) activated without any obstacle, pedestrian, or vehicle in front of me. I was decelerating at about 15–20 mph in clear weather and road conditions. The abrupt stop was extremely dangerous and could have caused a serious rear-end collision had another car been behind me. This created a significant safety risk to me and to others. I had already completed the Toyota recall related to the pre-collision/braking system weeks prior. Despite this, the malfunction still occurred. The issue has not yet been confirmed or reproduced by a dealer, but I have contacted Toyota and scheduled a full inspection. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. There were no warning lamps, messages, or error alerts before the incident. The car simply braked suddenly without warning. Out of fear for my safety, I have since disabled the PCS system. I am now afraid to drive the car, especially at higher speeds, and have requested that Toyota escalate the matter for further resolution or potential buyback.

While driving at a moderate speed (june 7, 2025), multiple critical systems of the vehicle suddenly failed. Both dashboard screens (driver and center display) went black, and numerous warning lights appeared afterward, including oil pressure, engine, lane departure, tire pressure, and airbag (SRS) system malfunction. The vehicle accelerated involuntarily, the brakes did not respond, the steering became stiff, and the airbags failed to deploy upon impact with concrete and metal highway barriers. A "System Malfunction" and "SRS Airbag System Malfunction" message appeared. The police report attributes the crash to a vehicle system malfunction. Two days before the incident (June 5, 2025), the vehicle had been serviced by the dealer, and the electronic screen issue had been reported but not addressed. This failure put our lives at serious risk and demonstrates a catastrophic malfunction across safety-critical systems. Photos and documentation are available, and the vehicle is under insurance and legal review.

January of 2025 the vehicle was put in drive and the vehicle shut down. "Power steering low egine stopped" message appeared. I Put the vehicle in park and started the car back up. I took it to the dealership. The battery was low they charged it and released it back. The vehicle was brought back shortly after that due to the vehicle being put in park and shutting down displaying the same "low power steering. Egine stopped" message. Along with "EPB stopped Incompletely". Brought it back in and the battery was low and they replaced it. A few months later the vehicle was brought in due to multiple braking events either when pulling forward with no acceleration (nothing was around the vehicle) or putting the vehicle into reverse with no acceleration (nothing behind the vehicle). During these events the car made a loud grinding sound and displayed BRAKE across the dash. The 3rd time at the dealership was due to the car shutting down when put into park and braking when reversing out of a parking spot. The code "epb stopped Incompletely" and the BRAKE message appeared. The dealership checked for codes but the car didn't have any saved. They can't recreate it. They had a feild tech come out but I'm unsure of what was found because they haven't released it. As of June 22, 2025 I was driving and the car braked on me while going 40 mph. The seat belt locked up and threw me and my passenger forward. A red BRAKE message appeared and the car sounded an alarm. The vehicle was brought back into the dealership on June 23, 2025 the dealership turned me away. Corporate started a case.

I had the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross LE for one week and have experienced two occurrences of a serious safety concern. After coming to a complete stop (with the auto stop turned off), I will accelerate for a few second before the car completely loses power in the middle of the road. After a few seconds, it seems to pick back up and continue like nothing happened. This malfunction has left me in situations that will cause an accident. I am terrified to put my [XXX] and [XXX] back in this car just to be a sitting duck waiting to be hit by other drivers. On [XXX], at the intersection of [XXX] and [XXX] in Los Angeles, [XXX] was operating the subject vehicle when it was involved in a hit-and-run that resulted in a secondary collision with multiple vehicles. Photos (attached) document the significant impact. Emergency responders were required to extricate [XXX]from the vehicle, during which they informed her that the airbags failed to deploy—a fact also documented in the official LAPD report. The failure of the airbag system represents a significant and dangerous malfunction of the vehicle’s safety features. This is particularly troubling in light of Toyota’s recent recall, which affects more than 400,000 vehicles. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

It was around 7pm. It was raining & wipers were on. Auto stop/start setting is on. I was at a stop light waiting to turn left. The light turns green and I try to go, but the engine stalled. I was unable to move forward into the lane, and turn the wheel. A sign on the dashboard showed up saying "engine stopped, steering power low". I try to the turn the wheel and was unable to, I tried to turn off the engine and the car shuts off. I turn the key again to start the car but it wasn't starting. It was about 3 min until the car engine throttles on and I pull over to the left into the parking lot. It was really scary. I managed to get home, which was less than a mile away. Grateful I got home. My safety was at risk at a busy and rainy intersection. Many cars went around me.
