The basic issue is unintended acceleration. I reported this issue four (4) separate times to the local Toyota dealer in my area: 1/20/2020 - 5/2/2020 - 9/28/2020 and most recently on 6/13/2022. The most recent incident resulted in an accident whereby I backed into a building while parking and caused more than $5,000 damage. All incidents were reported to and investigated by two (2) different Toyota dealers in my area: Simi Valley, CA and Thousand Oaks, CA. The investigation resulted in no findings and to this point in time, fortunately, no one was a hurt nor was there another vehicle involved - yet. Just a few days ago - 10/24/22 - my wife and I were in this same vehicle running errands when this happened again. While coming to a stop at an intersection, the accelerator raced while I had my foot on the brake. It was only because I reacted as quickly as I did that we did not become involved in an accident. I was able to quickly shift the vehicle into neutral until the engine revving subsided after several seconds. Had I not, both my wife and I would have certainly been injured or worse by cross traffic. This issue cannot be predicted and the analysis that has been performed thus far both by Toyota and AAA has uncovered no detectable problem - as I understand it - because this only occurs when the vehicle is moving at about 5-10 mph (decelerating) in preparation to come to a stop. This issue makes operating this vehicle highly unsafe and I cannot allow anyone else to operate the vehicle because of my fear that it will happen again. I just don't know when.

- #11491397October 28, 2022SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
While traveling at interstate speeds (about 68 MPH) a vehicle in front of me (about 6 car lengths ahead) hit a pickup truck. I hit the brakes and then my car's auto braking system was activated (displaying on the dashboard) but it did not feel like my car was slowing down. I then proceeded to push the break all the way to the floorboard and my car did not slow down causing me to hit the vehicle in front of me. It felt like the auto-breaking system was preventing me from applying full braking power. When I pushed the break petal to the floor it felt like I was pushing on air. There was no resistance on the petal as there normally would be. There were no skid marks on the road and after the impact, my vehicle would not move. I had to put the car in park and then back into drive to move off the road.

I believe it was 6/23/22, i was stopped in traffic on I35 and I30, traveling south toward Waco. I was in stop and go traffic at the bottom of the ramp. As I was stopped, the car accelerated forward and hit a work truck in front of me. The construction truck had a rotating tire hoisted on its rear end. My car received front end damage by the rotating wheel. The truck was not damaged. I reported the incident to Allstate. The car was not repaired because a few months later, I had an accident involving an uninsured driver who ran a red light and totaled my car.

- #11490767October 25, 2022TIRES:SIDEWALL, TIRES
The tire size is 215/55R17. Within a span of 10 months, THREE of my tires have needed to be replaced, with one of them almost causing me a very serious car accident. The issue appears to be with the sidewall failing. The first time this happened was in September of 2021. I brought the defective tire to a local Bridgestone retail center and my complaint/concerns were completely dismissed by the in-store employee and corporate. The employee contacted corporate on the phone and was told there were no recalls on my Specific tires. The employee insisted that because there was no current “recall,” my tire was not defective. He also stated that I should “trust him” because he’s “been in the business for 25+ years”. Even though there was NO nail or sharp object found, Bridgestone had insisted that I must have ran over something. Relying on their knowledge and response in this matter, I went ahead and purchased the same exact tire at BJs wholesale club. ( I even took the tire to Toyota for inspection and they couldn’t find anything lodged in the tire or evidence to indicate that I ran over any object. They were completely baffled.) Approximately 2 months ago, a second tire had a very similar issue occur out of nowhere. It happened when I was not even a five minute drive from my house. Yet again, the issue was with the sidewall. The tire was damaged beyond repair and I had to get the “donut” put on so that I could drive my car to a tire center to purchase a new tire. Then (not even two weeks later) a different tire went flat in the same exact manner. This incident happened within less than 10 minutes from my house. Nothing appeared to have pierced my tire. I even returned to the area where it went flat and found no evidence of possible road hazards or sharp objects. The rips were located in multiple areas of the tire. This time the damage was much worse and once again the tire was damaged beyond repair. I am fully convinced the tires are defective.

- #11490777October 25, 2022FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
There are multiple warning lights on my dash at this time. The following malfunctions are showing on my dash at this time: Pre-Collision System Malfunction, LDA Malfunction, Headlamp malfunction, SRS Malfunction, Low Braking Power, Secondary Collision Brake System Malfunction, Power Steering Malfunction, Antilock Brake System Malfunction. These started coming on around two weeks ago. I have no blinkers available and my steering stiffens to where the car is almost undriveable. I contacted Toyota corporate office and the representative said she has not heard of these warnings, but they are on many Toyota forums on the internet. I took the vehicle to Toyota North in Goodlettsville, TN on 10/12/2022 and they can not tell me what is wrong with my car. I feel it is a safety hazard to drive this car at this point since this car has automatic braking power. I also have videos available, if needed. This is going to cause someone to get seriously hurt.

The 2007 Toyota Camry has a manufacturing defect related to sticky/melting dashboards as a result of heat or humidity. Toyota sent me a warranty notice for an extension for 10 years from the date of first use of the vehicle, which they determined was the date that I purchased the vehicle on July 31, 2007. In 2013, I took the vehicle to a Toyota dealer, however, they refused to replace the dashboard because, in their opinion, it was not sufficiently compromised. However, now, years later, the dashboard has become very sticky and reflective. It produces a glare into the windshield, impairing vision, which is now a safety issue due to the manufacturer defect. This defect could cause serious injury and death. On August 5, 2022, I appealed to Toyota customer service for them to replace the dashboard. I emphasized the safety issue. However, a Senior Representative declined to make an exception. I then wrote to [XXX], CEO of Toyota Motor North America to ask for his help (see attached letter). I asked him to personally authorize the dashboard replacement and reply to me directly. Almost two months later, I have not received any communication from him. Moreover, on October 4th, I called Toyota customer service to follow-up on my letter. I was told that [XXX], Executive Office Administrator send me an email on September 1st asking for the best time to contact me. I never received this email, neither in my inbox or in my gmail spam folder. That same day, I called [XXX] and left a detailed voice message. I have called him several times since then, each time leaving a message on his voicemail. He has deliberately refused to return my phone calls. I am appalled that Toyota and its CEO does not take safety issues seriously. I kindly ask you to either contact Toyota on my behalf to have them replace the dashboard, or to issue a recall of all 2007 Toyota Camry's due to a manufacturer defect that can result in serious injury or death. The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 43 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that excessive force was used to depress the brake pedal causing the vehicle to fishtail while coming to a stop. The brake system warning light and the ABS warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who retrieved a fault code for the ABS control module; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 124,236.
