The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Camry equipped with Michelin Tires, Tire Line: Energy Saver A/S, Tire Size: 215/55/R17, DOT Number: 1653F. The contact stated while his wife was driving 70 MPH with him in the passenger’s site seat, the driver’s side rear tire experienced a blowout and the vehicle skidded. The contact's wife was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that Roadside Assistance replaced the tire with the spare tire. The vehicle was then towed to the Toyota dealer, where the contact was informed that the rim was damaged. The dealer informed the contact that both the rim and the rear driver's side tire needed to be replaced. The rim and tire were replaced under Road Hazard insurance. The tire was a replacement tire. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 30,971. Upon leaving my home the “check engine” light turned on suddenly after only less than 2 minutes of driving . The “ICS malfunction” light also turned on. The car pulled and stalled when pushing the gas and velocity stalled. Engine light turned said something similar to “engine overheating park in a safe place” . Not sure exact words. I was able drive less then one mile to get the car to Toyota Penske of Downey. I had the diagnostic done and the service provider stated the car needed an electrician water pump replacement. My car has very little mileage and was not running for long for it to over heat.

Hello, I just bought this used Camry from its original owner on 6/10/24. There is a recall for the 2012-2014 Camrys for a transmission shudder that could occur while accelerating, especially under light loads between 25-50 mph. The issue is caused by a combination of a faulty torque converter and a software glitch in the engine control module (ECM). The original owner did not have it fixed. Thus, the problem still exists. This is a safety hazard and I contacted Toyota North America who told me that they can't do anything. However, to fix the problem that Toyota issued the recall themselves, Toyota dealers need to replace to the torque converter and update the ECM software. I am reaching out to the NHTSA because this is a safety hazard and I hope you are able to help me with this. Thank you.

I've been into automobile accidents and the passenger airbag never deployed. Few years back I took my vehicle for the sticky dashboard recall, Toyota replaced it. Few years later the dashboard is sticky and shiny worst than the first time, I called Toyota to get it replaced free of charge and they told me that is not the responsibility and denied to fix the replaced sticky dashboard. I almost have gotten in accidents do to the shiny glare from the dashboard.

The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving at approximately 10 MPH and slowing for traffic in a parking lot the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that he was able to stop the vehicle. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the vacuum pump brake assist assembly had failed and needed to be replaced. The mechanic advised the contact that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V890000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and referred the contact to a dealer. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer, who advised the contact that the recall was voided on his vehicle since an independent mechanic had worked on the brake assist assembly. The contact notified the manufacturer and was advised that the recall was voided. The vehicle was repaired but the contact had paid for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

The contact owned a 2014 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, he swerved to avoid hitting an animal on the road and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle veered off the road, hit trees and crashed into a boulder. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact was assisted out of the vehicle and was transported to the hospital by an ambulance. The contact sustained injuries. The contact's left tibia bone fractured in half, the contact sustained a plateau fracture on the left knee, a laceration on the neck, a bruised chest and bruised right leg. The contact underwent surgeries and became physically disabled. The contact stated that he was still undergoing treatment. The vehicle was towed and totaled. A police report was filed, but the the police report information was not available. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and requested pictures and medical records pertaining to the incident. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.

235/45R 18 94V Tires emit very loud road noise at various speeds. I have rotated tires every 5,000 miles. I have aligned the front end 2x to correct problem. Tires swerve/jerk in a turn. Problems began at about 25,000 miles. It just rolled over 35,000 miles. Toyota dealership has examined the problem, driven the car, and declare there is no warranty.
