I have reported safety issues on this vehicle before, but a new one has arisen which is related to the same. It is the computer shorting out. While in the past I have reported lack of backup camera, lane keeping, cruise control, collision avoidance, now intermittently the power steering fails. I get an error. Thankfully, this occurs when starting up and not while driving (yet), but it is nearly impossible to turn the wheel. As of now, exiting the car, letting the car doors lock and then coming back to the car has solved the issue, but I worry about this occurring while driving. Tesla knows about the computer issues and should take responsibility via a recall rather than a pricey repair on my own as this is a well reported issue. I have received no communication or feedback despite the complaints I have lodged with you and with Tesla. Please intervene before someone gets hurt.

My car will randomly break while I’m driving straight on a road. It seems to happen when I’m going between 30 and 45 mph. It breaks so hard that if a car behind me was following, they could run into me. Whenever it breaks, I have to put my foot on the accelerator to get the car to go back forward.

While traveling on the freeway with Full Self-Driving (Supervised) engaged, my vehicle attempted to initiate an automatic lane change to the left. At that exact moment, another vehicle was already traveling parallel to me, fully established in the adjacent left lane. My vehicle signaled and immediately began veering directly into the occupied lane, completely failing to detect the car traveling next to me. The system did not abort the maneuver or yield to the existing traffic. To prevent an immediate sideswipe collision, I had to forcefully grab the steering wheel and wrench the car back into my original lane. The FSD system completely failed to monitor its immediate left blind spot.

On 07/16/2026, I was driving my 2023 Tesla Model Y when the vehicle suddenly began swerving rapidly left and right across multiple lanes without my intended steering input. The vehicle became difficult to control, and despite my attempt to correct the direction, it continued to move unpredictably and resulted in a collision. There were no prior warnings or indications of a steering or control issue before the incident. After the collision, I reviewed the Tesla USB drive and found that Dashcam and Sentry Mode recordings from immediately before and during the incident were not available; only recordings after the incident were present. I am concerned that a possible steering, electronic control, or software malfunction may have contributed to the loss of vehicle control.

7/17/26 about 8pm my Tesla Model Y backed into a wall under FSD (full self driving). The vehicle was placed into FSD to assist in backing the car from a narrow street into a garage space. Wall on one side and another SUV parked on the driver side. Driver was monitoring the vehicle maneuver forward and backward attempting to clear the wall so it can back into the space. The vehicle appeared to be close to the wall and I anticipated the vehicle to inch forward but instead the car went backwards into the wall and caused damage to my vehicle. The vehicle should have stopped and asked the driver to take over or alarms/chimes. The fsd system failed to recognize that the right rear would not clear the wall and still proceeded to reverse and cause damages

Whenever I cancel FSD in this Tesla for any reason, a highly distracting ‘forced feedback’ panel pops up on the single information screen, obstruction critical information. It only disappears when I select one of 4 feedback options, blocking my information screen view all that time. I am a regular driver, not a trained beta tester.

My new 2026 Tesla model Y has a feature called lane departure assistance. This feature is constantly activated in the car. This feature is a terrible safety hazard and has made me almost crashed several times because it dictated a lane when there was no lane present and the car would veer violently in a direction to try to correct a possible lane departure. Clients contemporarily disengage this feature, but it continues to reactivate every time you enter the car this particular software needs to be looked at more in detail by Tesla because multiple of my family have the same car in our experiencing the same issues. I have reported this issue to Tesla but they are not willing to listen or modify this particular software. I need your help to make this feature safer for those purchasing this new model Y. Clients should have the right to be able to disengage this feature permanently to make the car drive, normally without having lane departure assistance. It should not be required to have this feature on all the time when you re-enter the car.

On many occasions in the year we have owned our Tesla Model Y, we have experienced sudden, unexplained braking while using the Traffic Aware Cruise Control (TACC) feature. We have experienced several near-misses of cars or semi tractor trailers rear-ending us. These incidents were avoided by quick reaction of the Tesla driver to override the TACC. I have documented several incidents using the dash camera on the car and have assembled a spreadsheet of times and places of occurrence that correspond to the videos. One Tesla service representative dismissed my complaint by saying the feature is working as designed, so nothing further was done. A representative at a different dealership acknowledged that it is a known characteristic in the current firmware and they expect it to be addressed in a future software update. As I said, we have been experiencing this for over a year. It is a clear safety hazard, not only for the Tesla driver and passengers, but also for any vehicle following who has to react to the sudden, unexpected braking.

I am reporting a catastrophic structural wheel failure involving my 2023 Tesla Model Y, VIN [XXX], with approximately 78,439 miles. On XXX at approximately 9:30pm, while heading home at approximately 35-40 mph, the front passenger-side wheel fractured and separated into two major pieces. The vehicle was being operated normally on a freshly paved road under clear skies. There was no pothole, curb strike, collision, or known impact with any object before the failure. This was not a routine flat tire or cosmetic wheel issue. The structural wheel itself split apart, creating an immediate loss-of-control risk and raising serious concerns about the integrity of the remaining three original wheels. We purchased a replacement wheel, tire, and TPMS sensor out of pocket and had the repair completed by McGriff Best-One Tire & Service, a respected regional tire shop. After examining the failed wheel, McGriff documented that the damage did not appear to have resulted from an impact and appeared consistent with a manufacturing or factory defect. The failed wheel has been retained and preserved for inspection. An earlier McGriff service document mistakenly identified a previously owned Tesla Model 3 that remained in its customer system. McGriff corrected the vehicle information, and the corrected documentation and photographs confirm that the repair and inspection involved the subject 2023 Tesla Model Y. I reported the incident to Tesla and requested escalation to Field Engineering or Product Safety, transportation of the vehicle for inspection, examination of the remaining wheels, and a written engineering report. Tesla’s Birmingham service personnel initially treated the matter as a routine customer-paid wheel replacement. Tesla subsequently dismissed my written safety concerns and closed the service chat without providing a substantive investigation, engineering findings, or assurance regarding the remaining wheels. On XXX I retrieved my 2023 Tesla Model Y (VIN: [XXX]) from Tesla Motors NV, Inc. ([XXX]) after their third attempt to correct a severe panel and component misalignment following a collision repair (Invoice #XXX). The facility replaced major front-end structural components, including the Front Bumper Beam (1687601-00-E), Front Subframe Crush Can (1109193-00-C), and Cast Front Underbody Left Hand Crush Can (1608453-00-D).Tesla's official guidelines require a mandatory 3D structural measurement test whenever these specific cast aluminum underbody and subframe parts are replaced. The repair facility verbally claimed the damage was minor/cosmetic and that only a manual tram measurement was performed. However, a manual tram gauge cannot detect 3D frame twists or height deviations in cast aluminum components, making it wholly insufficient.As a direct result of this unverified structural alignment, the vehicle's front end remains warped. After the first repair, the headlamp shifted and protruded on the right side. After subsequent attempts to fix it, the left headlamp is again protruding outward. Because the structural frame is misaligned, the forward-facing cameras are out of calibration. Under Autopilot, the vehicle exhibits dangerous behavior, including misidentifying a standard bike lane as an extended vehicle lane. Furthermore, the repair facility has since removed or hidden the conversation logs regarding these complaints, and I can no longer find the messages in the Tesla app. Operating a vehicle with unverified structural alignment and compromised driver-assist vision systems poses an immediate, severe safety risk. This sudden deceleration instantly triggered a complete powertrain collapse and total loss of propulsion. The vehicle came to a dead stop in a live highway lane. The driver (me), passenger, and our [XXX] infant were stranded in lane 3 of a 6 lane highway for ~35 minutes until Highway Patrol units arrived to manually push the vehicle across live traffic to the shoulder. On July 10, 2026, my 2024 Tesla Model Y (approx. 22,440 miles) lost all power (main/12V battery) while parked next to a Supercharger stall on Level 3 of the Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino parking garage, Maricopa, AZ. Ambient temperature was approximately 110F. My dog and cat were inside the vehicle. With the vehicle powered off, the key card, Tesla app, and interior door releases did not function, leaving no way to open the doors from outside or inside. Unable to find or access a working manual door release in time, we broke the rear quarter glass and damaged a door to physically extract the pets before they suffered heat-related harm. Maricopa Police Department and Ak-Chin Fire Department responded to the scene. This represents a serious safety defect: a loss of vehicle power should not eliminate all means of entry/egress, particularly when children or pets could be trapped in extreme heat. The vehicle, damaged door, and glass are available for inspection. Photos of the incident are available.

Home link failure 1 Homelink was set to close the garage at 90 feet. Garage was open and I was parking manually going in reverse. Home link closed the garage as rear of my car was entering. Since tesla has a taller base and the wing like device projects beyond the car was damaged. 2 Homelink does not work consistently and this has put my home at risk because sometimes the garage door does not close as it is supposed to. 3 I had a service call. The technician saw the problem and claimed to have fixed it. He also said that he will tell the service manager about the damage and will see if they could fix the damage. 4 problem with this inconsistent behavior has continued. I have escalated the complaint with Tesla. I have called four times. All visited a service center in East plano. No one has contacted me to discuss the problem.

Vehicle Safety Complaint On XXX, between approximately 9:45 PM and 9:52 PM, we were driving our Tesla Model Y eastbound on [XXX] and exited at [XXX] toward [XXX]. As my husband was making a left turn after exiting the freeway, the steering wheel suddenly became stuck or extremely difficult to turn. There was no warning, no unusual driver input, and no use of Autopilot or Full Self-Driving. The vehicle does not have Full Self-Driving capability. My husband had to use significant force to regain steering control to avoid striking the left side of the roadway/median. Because the vehicle did not respond as expected, the car behind us nearly rear-ended us. Our two children, ages [XXX] and [XXX], were properly restrained in the back seat. Fortunately, no collision or injuries occurred, but the incident could easily have resulted in a serious crash. This incident raises significant concerns about the safety and reliability of the steering system. I am requesting that this complaint be investigated and that Tesla review the vehicle’s logs from the time of the incident. The vehicle has also been reported to Tesla for inspection. Tesla Full Self Driving has no way to limit the speed or lane changes, and even in its standard profile it keeps going 15+ over the limit. Chill mode occasionally goes 10+, and Sloth switches between -10 and +5 erratically. It's unsafe to use and there's no way to do anything about it without a manual speed limit, like it used to have

The factory technician confirmed in the official service notes that the right-side headlight is 'internally faulty and will not lower the headlight height to specification,' requiring a full assembly replacement. While driving, the front lower suspension lateral link (fore link) completely detached and separated from the subframe. The aluminum arm dropped down, pulling entirely free from its mounting bushing and shredding the plastic underbody aero shield. The failure caused a sudden and immediate loss of wheel alignment and camber control, making the vehicle entirely unsafe to drive and requiring an emergency tow. There was absolutely no impact, collision, or external road hazard that caused this failure; the component separated entirely due to structural or fastener failure.
