ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I brought the car home after purchasing and came back out to the car in the garage, a notice appeared on the screen and the car shut down locking me in. I had to call Tesla who instructed me to use the manual release on the door to get out. This occurred on the first day of ownership and had to be towed to Tesla for repair the next day. From my understanding looking online one of the parts that was replaced (pyrotechnic battery disconnect - please refer to attached repair invoice) was involved in a Tesla recall earlier in 2023. I view this as a safety concern and am fortunate such an event occurred while parked in my garage and not while driving.

Ongoing issue of phantom braking while driving with cruise control. I have documented numerous instances with Tesla and they are refusing to acknowledge and resolve the problem

SUSPENSION
My vehicle was rear ended while parked on the side of the road. No one was in the car so there was no personal injury. The car was repaired but after the repair the rear tires were found to be wearing out at a rate of 4 times normal speed. Two repair facilities (one of them being a Tesla service center) measured the vehicles rear alignment and found the camber to be outside of manufacturers specifications but couldn't fix the issue as the vehicle has no way to adjust the camber on the rear wheels. The insurance company tried to have the alignment fixed but could not as Tesla would not give any instructions on how to make the repair and suggested that the problem be fixed by Tesla under a warranty repair. This determination was made because the vehicles frame was found to be fine, and the suspension was fine, but the alignment was off with no way to make an adjustment. When I tried to have Tesla repair the alignment, I was told I hit too many potholes and because the car is a performance car I drove the car to aggressively which caused the problem. I do not hit potholes and I do not drive aggressively. If I were to do either of these things the frame would show damage, and the suspension would show damage. Also, if I hit potholes the front wheels would sustain most of the damage and there no issues with the front wheel alignment. The photos in the files attached: "Rear Tire 4-2-2023" shows a rear tire after the car was repaired with no abnormal wear, "Rear Left Tire 10-4-2023" and "Rear Right Tire 10-4-2023" so abnormal wear just 6 months after repair.

Vehicle warning icons are blocked by the drivers right arm. In some driving positions, the current vehicle speed is also blocked. Recommend shifting the icons toward the center of the monitor.

Automatic Wipers are unreliable, they turn on when no rain is present and they fail to come on when rain is present. Additionally the manual wiper controls are unsafe to use while driving and are not easy to adjust, resulting in a significant distraction while operating a vehicle in the rain. The vehicle also lacks manual Intermittent wipers, unless left in auto which barely works.

The contact owns a 2021 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that all the windows in the vehicle had become distorted, cloudy, bubbly, and delaminated, creating a visibility hazard while driving. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a service appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was taken to the local service center who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 18,000.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I was driving to work this morning, February 7th, 2024 driving at freeway speeds. My Tesla touchscreen dropped out and went completely dark. The reset process is to press and hold for about 30 seconds and another 30 seconds for the full restart. I attempted this twice and proceeded to pull off the highway. During this period, I could not see how fast I was driving, whether my brake lights, turn signals, or headlights worked at this time to safely transit through traffic to get off the road. I put my hazard lights on, but again did not know if these worked or not. The screen finally came back online and seemed fine until I could get to work, this was an extremely scary experience and a perfect example as to why all cars should have a cluster driver screen mandatory, I will be getting rid of this car as soon as possible.

Windshield is causing a very loud whistling sound on a high speed exceeds 80mph. After multiple visits to the dealership, the windshield, cowl screen panel and sealing around the windshield was replaced but has not addressed the issue. The windshield was inspected by the dealership technicians and did a full diagnose and they have said that even if they replaced the windshield again will not address the sound whistling concern. The technician has said that is most likely a manufacture defect. This is a safety concern, as I'm afraid to operate my motor vehicle on a high speed and could uplift the windshield due to air pressure.

POWER TRAIN, STEERING
The power steering went out and it was virtually impossible to turn the steering wheel. It was unsafe to drive because you were not able to turn the car unless you were very strong. Safety issue-unable to turn the car without possibly colliding with another car. Tesla replaced the drive train. Another incident happened while getting into the car and driving it. An alert came up on the screen saying that the power train needed immediate service and that I could not exceed 60 mph. I was driving at the time. As I continued to drive to my destination the alert kept coming on with different speeds I could not drive at. It eventually got down to 53 mph and it physically would not drive over that speed and it was on the freeway and dangerous because the car kept slowing down. Tesla replaced the oil pump in the back battery. I have had this car for 3 years and it has been in the shop 15 times.

The Automatic Windshield Mode does not function properly. On some Sunny days, the windshield wiper will automatically engage. Yet, during heavy downpours, the automatic windshield wipers will not engage or it will wipe very slowly. I have to press the stauk manual or press the manual setting while driving in the rain. Very unsafe due to distraction and poor visibility while driving.

When FSD was activated, the MY had a number of incidents that the car was maneuvered in a way that was not safe: 1) It started going forward when the MY was stopped at a Red Light at the intersection when the light was still in red; 2) It started to move suddenly and turned right while waiting at an intersection; 3) It changed to the right lane suddenly while approaching an exit in a highway. These movements were corrected manually by overriding the FSD but they were quite scary.

VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM
As the window starts to fog up, I turn on the defrost. The defrost does not come on for 2 to 3 minutes. However, there is some air that comes out that causes the window to fog up more. It reduces the visibility and I have to pull over because I can’t see. This happens every time I turn on the defroster. There is some delay of 2 to 3 minutes before the hot air actually blows out. I went to Tesla to see if this is a recall and they said my car did not qualify but it seems there are other test ones that have the same problem. It is dangerous when I am driving and the car windows if I turn the defroster on, it’ll cause me to lose complete visibility within seconds, and then it takes 2 to 3 minutes for the hot air to kick out.

STEERING, AIR BAGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Vechile started skidding and didn't respond to steering wheel control, ultimately failed to a make a turn and fell off road into a ditch. Also emergency braking wasn't triggered to prevent vechile from falling off road and furthermore upon impact airbags weren't deployed. The driver sustained grevious injuries and was transported away by EMS.

Tesla's auto-wipers do NOT detect rain on the windshield and are dangerous to drive with enabled. During heavy rain with the windshield covered and unable to see the auto wipers would not enable and clean the windshield. I was forced to "wake-up" the wipers with a manual swipe, but even then the auto-wipers failed to keep the windshield clear while only occasionally/intermittently cleaning the windshield. Tesla's auto-wipers are dangerously ineffective.

Bought this Model Y lease and had it delivered from Jacksonville to miami after sales guy convinced us from getting the 2024 model since this one was cheaper and was a long range (I wonder why). On that same night, I took the car to the gym and coming back, it shut down on me on the middle of the road. (Screenshots of the error attached). On [XXX], Model Y shut down on my wife entering her aunts complex picking up the kids. Same day wife was driving on a 3 lane main road and the car shut down on her in the middle of the road with cars passing by. Model Y made us get out the vehicle and re-enter the vehicle multiple times putting us in danger, not to mention the abrupt stop could’ve been worse if this was on the highway and/or God forbid an accident. Took car to service and in 1-day Tesla claims the inspected and replaced the inverter and everything should be up to code. I told them that my wife and I don’t feel comfortable driving the same vehicle. They say “they completely understand where I’m coming from and that the vehicle is now performing as designed. SEAT BELTS
The Tesla displays Passenger restraint system fault occasionally. The vehicle goes into turtle mode and the screen goes in park graphics. The car still drives slowly but doesn’t show any vehicle info such as speed. Took it into tesla service center last month and the said that it was because of a power frunk accessory. This is a common problem. Tons of reddit post and tesla forums.

LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
The back camera of the Tesla model y does not provide necessary image quality to identify any objects/persons of cross traffic when reversing the vehicle. In one incident I was about to hit a person behind the vehicle as there was no proper cross traffic alerting and no proper camera view. When I approached Tesla for support they identified the problem and determined it is by design and would not be able to help much. As per the images uploaded, there is clear distinction of camera quality between side camera and back camera. Also the images taken when the vehicle is in stop mode making the back light illuminate otherwise the images would be much darker. Also I want to point out that the back camera functions good during day time and the issue happens only during night.

STEERING
Steering got locked stating that assistive driving was reduced. We were in front of our house and my wife was driving. She said that steering is basically unusable so we pulled back in the driveway. Normal restarts didn't fix it. We then did a hard restart of the car and that fixed it but it was scary and accident prone when locked "assistive driving reduced".
