Tesla Full Self Driving, installed version 14.3.6 is still unable to reliably obey speed limits. The driver of the car has no method of controlling Full Self Driving to slow down the car to meeting the new speed limit. The Full Self Driving (FSD) safety system must be disabled to regain speed control. Tesla claim in multiple social media posts that FSD is "significantly" safer than humans, but it will not reliably maintain accurate speed and instead will often attempt to significantly exceed the posted speed limits. XXX driving through [XXX] on Highway XXX heading west, with FSD controlling the car. The posted speed limit is 45, suddenly the car changed speed to 55, then faster. The only recourse is to disengage the FSD safety system to regain sensible speed. I have included one location, but this is a very widespread issue that covers much of [XXX], [XXX], [XXX] and [XXX]. This issue occurred on August 02, 2026 at around 3pm. I was parked and put my 2023 Tesla Model Y in reverse to give myself enough room to drive forward from being parked on road next to my house. While going into reverse, I heard a really loud bang noise coming from under the front section of the car. I put the car in park and got out to take a look around. At first I thought I had hit something while backing out but did not see any object in the reverse camera. So then I kneeled down and looked under the car and that's when I saw the passenger side front lateral arm of the suspension detached and left hanging down from the wheel. I let Tesla know what occurred using their app to message the company.

The bushings on my vehicles front suspension completely failed at 47k miles and required replacement. The vehicle was under warranty and the manufacturer replaced them free of charge, but I'd heard that this component is being investigated. To be clear, the front lower lateral links and compliance arms all had to be replaced.

Failure of the front lower lateral link and compliance link assembly. A creaking noise when steering at low speeds prompted me to take the vehicle to be checked out at a Tesla repair shop. The vehicle required a complete replacement of these parts at an independent cost of $1,900. I have the line-item proof of parts and labor.

While exiting a parking space, I noticed a very obvious clunking sound from the front of the car. As I started driving slowly and moving the steering wheel back and forth, there would be a loud clunk and a bump in the steering wheel when moving it from the right back to center. I drove home 30 miles very carefully and called Tesla when I got there. They set up a tow and fixed the car under warranty. They said bolts had loosened on the front lower lateral link assembly. Safety was at risk due to the possibility of my car falling to the ground and not being able to steer. In the right setting, this could have cause a major accident. I did not receive any warning lamps or any warnings of any kind. There was never a clunk until the bolt was fully out. The car didn't steer or drive any differently either so no way to know something was wrong.

I was driving the vehicle and heard a lot crack and felt the steering wheel unstable. Whenever I would turn the steering wheel the car would make crackling noises and I would feel the car go up as I was driving. When I was turning into my driveway the car felt like the whole left wheel had fallen off, according to my spouse she said the wheel looked like it was folding in as a turn and the car was elevating. We made an appointment with Tesla service senter and we had to get our car towed since it was not drivable. I went to speak with the Tesla agent and they had told me there was wear and tear on both lower front arm links and that they had replaced them. My car has only 19,000 miles so that seemed extremely strange and fast. The following day as I was cleaning my driveway I noticed a big suspension bolt on the ground, I took a picture of the bolt and sent it to my agent and he confirmed it was form the suspension bolt. Something they never mentioned until I found the bolt in my driveway. They repaired the issue according to them, we had no messages or indications of something going on. We also noticed that our wheels were getting worn down unevenly due to this. This is a family vehicle which is concerning that we could’ve had a more serious accident if it would’ve happened at a highway or on a trip.

On June 7, 2026, my 2021 Tesla Model Y with approximately 37,131 miles became completely unresponsive and could not be driven. Tesla Mobile Service replaced the 12V low-voltage battery on June 11, 2026. The official repair notes stated that the battery was replaced, proper operation was verified, there were no active alerts, and the vehicle was in excellent condition. Shortly after this repair, multiple vehicle systems stopped functioning, including all cameras, navigation/GPS, and software/firmware updates. Tesla Service later diagnosed the vehicle as requiring replacement of the HW3 vehicle computer at a cost of approximately $3,066. The loss of camera functionality disabled or affected multiple driver assistance features that rely on the camera system. The vehicle has been unavailable for approximately one month while awaiting repair. During discussions with Tesla Service regarding the diagnosis, I was informed verbally by the Service Manager that they see similar HW3 computer-related issues on a regular basis (approximately every other week). I cannot independently verify that statement, but I am including it because it contributed to my concern that this may not be an isolated incident. I am not asserting the root cause of the failure. I am submitting this complaint because the loss of the vehicle’s camera system and related driver assistance functionality may represent a potential safety concern, and I believe NHTSA should be aware of this incident.

The car started having a lound clicking sound while making a right turn while I exit from my workplace garage. I started driving home and I was on the freeway and suddenly got an alert from the car saying I need a wheel alignment check. I drove slowly and arrived home. When I was making a turn on my drive way to the garage, I again heard a loud clunk and the car front side appears to be elevated and stopped moving. I went out and saw the left front driver's side looks weired and saw a large bolt on the driveway. I immeditely called my neighboor who is a car repair guy and he found out the suspesion is detached. I have attached the bolt that fell out of the suspension. My neighbor fixed but it was ultimately sent to Tesla for a full repair on March 23rd, 2026.

I am reporting a safety defect involving a severe structural metallic "clank" or "clunk" under the vehicle's chassis during rapid acceleration and sudden braking. This vehicle was previously serviced by Tesla in 2023 for this identical issue (service invoice attached). While the repair initially suppressed the sound, the hazardous clanking noise subsequently returned, persisted for a period, and then went away on its own.The return and subsequent disappearance of the noise suggests that critical suspension or drivetrain components are shifting out of specification under load, binding, or experiencing intermittent mechanical failure. Given the active federal investigation into 2021–2023 Tesla Model Y front lower lateral link separations, I am deeply concerned that the underlying component remains structurally compromised despite the 2023 service. An intermittent or settling defect still poses an imminent safety risk of sudden component separation and total loss of steering control at driving speeds.

1. Front left suspension system — specifically the suspension control arm bolt — failed and detached while reverse parking. The failure caused the suspension arm to drop and resulted in secondary damage to the fender, wheel‑well liner, and door alignment. The vehicle has been repaired, but all service records, photos, and documentation are available for inspection upon request. 2. The suspension bolt failure caused the front left suspension to collapse suddenly while I was reverse parking. If this had happened at normal driving speeds, it could have caused loss of control and a crash. I regularly transport a [XXX] and a [XXX], and this unpredictable suspension collapse created a serious risk to my family and others on the road. 3. Yes. The failure was inspected and confirmed by Tesla’s Alpharetta Service Center and the Tesla Marietta Collision Center. The Marietta team documented that the front left suspension control arm bolt had detached and that the resulting damage was not caused by any external impact. Tesla ultimately approved the repair under warranty, confirming that the failure was due to a component issue rather than misuse. 4. Yes. The vehicle was inspected by Tesla’s Alpharetta Service Center immediately after the incident, and then by the Tesla Marietta Collision Center. Both locations confirmed that the front left suspension control arm bolt had detached and caused the suspension collapse. The Marietta team documented that the failure was not caused by any external impact and Tesla approved the repair under warranty. No police or insurance inspection was performed because the failure occurred at low speed on private property. 5. No warning lamps or messages appeared. I did hear suspension clunking/creaking before the failure and had a Tesla service appointment scheduled, but Tesla postponed it. The bolt failure happened suddenly with no electronic warnings. - #11754203August 1, 2026UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On July 31, 2026, at approximately 12:55 PM, my 2026 Tesla Model Y experienced a severe safety defect while operating in Full Self-Driving (Supervised) mode. The vehicle completely failed to detect, slow down for, or stop at a clearly visible and unobstructed stop sign at an intersection. The vehicle attempted to proceed through the intersection without yielding. I was fully attentive with my hands on the wheel and had to instantly apply heavy manual braking and steering intervention to prevent a collision with an oncoming vehicle that had the right of way. This failure of the automated driving system to recognize fundamental traffic control devices constitutes an immediate and severe collision hazard.

- #11754177August 1, 2026AIR BAGS, SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I was driving at approximately 30-35 mph on a 30 mph residential road with my son in the front passenger seat. My vehicle unexpectedly collided with a parked, unoccupied car on the right side of the road, impact occurring between my front passenger side and the rear driver side of the parked vehicle. Following the initial collision, the vehicle continued past a small tree, mounted the sidewalk, and struck a second parked car before I was able to manually bring it to a stop 2–3 houses further down near an intersection. Throughout this sequence—with the vehicle traveling at ~35 mph—neither the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) activated nor did any airbags deploy. Fortunately, neither my son nor I sustained catastrophic injuries, though my chest struck the steering wheel during the impact, causing ongoing pain my and mental trauma for my son. I am currently receiving medical advise. Given the speed and sequence of impacts, it is terrifying that the vehicle’s primary safety systems failed to engage before, during, or after the collision. I am seeking a thorough technical investigation into why Automatic Emergency Braking and airbag deployment failed in this scenario with Tesla Model Y

- #11754141August 1, 2026STEERING, SUSPENSION
In January 2025, my 2023 Tesla Model Y Long Range had approximately 22,000 miles and was only about one year old when a right-front suspension mounting bolt backed out of the front frame/subframe. Before discovering the problem, we heard a popping or knocking sound whenever the steering wheel was turned left or right. Upon inspecting the vehicle, I found that the loosened bolt was dragging across the plastic underbody/skid plate and was close to completely falling out. The photographs show the affected right-front suspension mounting point and bolt. To prevent the suspension connection from separating, I reinstalled and tightened the bolt myself and applied red thread-locking compound. The bolt has remained in place since that repair. However, a major front suspension fastener should not loosen or back out on a nearly new vehicle with only 22,000 miles. I am concerned that if the bolt had completely fallen out while driving, the suspension component could have detached, potentially causing a sudden change in wheel position, steering control, or loss of vehicle control. I am also concerned that the same condition could occur again or could exist on the opposite side of the vehicle. No crash or injury occurred, but this was a serious safety-related suspension failure. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this incident as a possible manufacturing, assembly, or fastener-retention defect.

- #11754061July 31, 2026UNKNOWN OR OTHER, STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
The Full Self-Driving (Supervised) software on my 2026 Tesla Model Y repeatedly performs unsafe driving maneuvers requiring manual takeover to avoid collisions. Documented incidents with timestamps since June 3, 2026 include: selecting the incorrect lane and then attempting a route correction against a red light; activating the left turn signal while executing a right turn; attempting to enter a freeway from an incorrect lane; repeatedly missing exits, on-ramps, and turns; and making unnecessary lane changes. In one drive on June 9, the system missed two exits, a freeway on-ramp, a left turn, a right turn, and a U-turn twice within 18 minutes. On July 8, 2026, hours after the vehicle was returned from service with the manufacturer's advised mitigation active, the system repeated the same errors and drove the wheel into a curb, causing wheel damage. My safety and that of other road users was put at risk by incorrect lane positioning, incorrect signaling, and a red light conflict. The manufacturer's service center has inspected the vehicle twice (completed July 8 and July 21, 2026). Both visits were closed with no repair performed. The only action was advising me to disable the Online Routing setting as a temporary workaround, which did not prevent recurrence. The manufacturer stated in writing on July 8 that this is a known software-related matter its engineering teams are actively working to resolve, and a service advisor described it verbally as a firmware issue. However, the manufacturer's written response on July 31 states diagnostics identified no faults. A service center supervisor verbally acknowledged experiencing similar behavior on his own vehicle, indicating the defect is not unique to my vehicle. Service records, complete timestamped incident logs, and dashcam footage of the incidents are preserved and available for inspection upon request. No warning lamps or fault messages appeared before or during any incident.

Within four months my car has suspension problems and I didn't know until my tires got bad there was a noise and I didn't know that was the suspension. I bought four brand new tires and I took it to the Tesla dealer and I told the attendant that my car was wearing the tire inside really bad. After I bought 4 brand new tires I took it to the Tesla for an alignment and when you left the car was even worse with the noise so bad. I am barely driving my car and I don't really know what to do if I have to take it to Tesla. I tried to get an appointment with Tesla and they are so full and my car feels like a rocking chair sometime. The tesla has only 31,000 miles.
