beginning in August 2022, I have had repeated problems with the battery in my 2022 Cayenne. if the car is left sitting for approximately 48 hours, the battery dies and must be jumpstarted. we reported this issue to Porsche immediately and my car has been in with the Porsche service technicians at least three times (August 9, Sept 13, Nov 7) this fall with no success at fixing the problem. (we also had a call telling us to take the car outside for a "software update," which did not work.) we are told this is a problem somewhere in the electrical system and it is affecting other 2020 Cayennes and some 911s. But Porsche has not offered a solution, nor is it being at all proactive in offering assistance or support. we have compensated for the last four months by parking the car in a garage and keeping it on a trickle charger if we are not driving it regularly. However, we were out of town for two weeks over Thanksgiving and the car battery died in spite of being connected to the trickle charger. we had to jump start the car and reset all the car settings. in addition we have had sporadic issues with unlocking and locking the car doors via hand touch. Porsche has been treating this issue as an "inconvenience" rather than what it is - a serious life safety issue. One of the service technicians told me "the car was meant to be driven every day"! I hesitate to drive my car at night because I do not have confidence that the car will start for me on a dark street at night. every day when I come down to drive my car I allow extra time as the car may not start. I have more confidence in my 2013 Toyota Tacoma than in this car in terms of reliability. this is a problem where Porsche has not offered remediation or assistance, nor has it offered a any assistance (I.e., loaner car or any alternative) while my car either been in the shop (for a total of at least two weeks) or has been operating with the (acknowledged) defect.

- #11493210November 11, 2022FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
There is a significant smell of gasoline inside the cabin of the vehicle. There was a recall on the same make, model, and year for fuel pump filter flange leaks, which are indicative of a strong smell of gas inside the car. This can potentially cause the car to start on fire. The dealer stated due to the VIN, the vehicle was not covered under the existing recall.

The transfer case on my car has been confirmed by two different mechanics that it needs to be replaced. Porsche no longer makes or sells the original transfer case and components, so the entire transfer case needs to be replaced, at a cost of approximately $5,000. Porsche extended the warranty for the transfer case for up to 10 years, but I was never notified or made aware of this extension. Because my transfer case issue was identified 6 months outside of the extended warranty, the full cost of this repair is my liability. I believe that Porsche is aware that the original transfer case has design flaws and reliability issues, and while they did extend warranty coverage, they made no effort to communicate the extension. If so, I would have had the transfer case inspected while still under warranty.

othe car's tach increase several hundred RPM as the computer tries to match revs when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd gear in Normal Mode and 2nd to 1st gear in Sport Mode.. When that happens, the car lurches forward. owhat seems to be happening is the engine is over-revving while disengaged from a gear on shifts from 3rd to 2nd and even more so on 2nd to 1st causing a lurch forward when the lower gear engages

I own a 2012 Porsche Cayenne. Transfer case broke at 33,000 miles and was replaced by the dealer, and now it broke again at 55,000 miles. Repair cost is $6,340 plus tax. It broke under the warranty period but Porsche gave me the runaround and told me they wouldn't check it until after some body damage was complete (more details below). Honestly feel like I'm getting gouged with faulty parts. Many other Porsche Cayenne owners seem to be reporting this problem on forums. (e.g. https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-958-2011-2018/1290994-transfer-case-failure-2.html) More details - 1. We asked the Porsche dealership to review the car for mechanical issues and repair bumper body damage while the transfer case was under warranty. 2. The Porsche dealer declined to review any mechanical issues until the bumper body damage repair was complete. 3. The Porsche was taken in for service to repair the body work first in late March per Porsche's guidance while the transfer case was still under warranty. 4. The body work was delayed due to Porsche's supply chain issues, and by the time it was complete it was after May 2nd which was when the warranty expired for the transfer case. 5. When the Porsche dealer received the car after May 2nd it identified the transfer case broke. This has been a recurring issue with a car as one transfer case broke at ~33,000 miles and was replaced at a Porsche dealership. Now the second transfer case broke at 55,000 miles (this case only lasted 22,000 miles). 6. Porsche declined to make an exception to the warranty and recommends replacing the transfer case at a price of $6,340 plus tax which will likely last for between 22,000 - 33,000 miles based on prior data points.

- #11463632May 6, 2022VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
The contact owns a 2016 Porsche Cayenne. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. On one occasion while driving, the failure occurred and nearly cause the vehicle to be rear ended by a vehicle speeding from behind. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on multiple occasions however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure before performing a software update to the accelerator pedal which appeared to correct the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

- #11462580April 28, 2022ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
THERE'S AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE (it is an E-Hybrid) with ERROR MESSAGES THAT RUN IN A CONTINUOUS LOOP (ACC NOT AVAILABLE, PAS RESTRICTED, DRIVING LIGHT CONTROL ERROR, HIGH BEAM ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE, LANE KEEP ASSIST RESTRICTED). THE LOCAL DEALER HAS NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE. CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY AND HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A MONTH. WE WERE CALLED TWO TIMES TO PICK UP A "FIXED VEHICLE" AND EACH TIME WE HAD TO RETURN THE CAR ALMOST IMMEDIATELY UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP SINCE THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED. I'VE CONTACTED PORSCHE CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT AS OF YET THERE IS NO RESOLUTION. IT IS VERY CONCERNING SINCE SOME OF THESE ERROR MESSAGES DO AFFECT VEHICLE SAFETY.

the driver receives a warning light in the instrument panel left tail light is defective, and then right tail light defective. Some times tail light works and does not when car is in cold weather Was told that both tail lights were defective and would have to be replaced at a cost of $3400.00 . Found an after sale Porsche publication saying that it affected 2015-2018 Porsche Cayenne. Dealer told me that it is no longer covered since my warranty is not in effect anymore. However this is a safety issue not a warranty issue. Have paperwork stating that Porsche knows the tail lights are defective. Since I live in Florida they have been working fine. But as soon as the car is in colder climates this starts to happen

The contact owns a 2021 Porsche Cayenne. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop, the steering wheel felt loose. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the tie rod bolt, track bolt, and hexagon head bolt needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted and the steering wheel was making abnormal sounds. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer - Porsche South Shore (185 W Sunrise Hwy, Freeport, NY 11520) who test drove the vehicle but could not determine the cause of the abnormal sounds. An unknown part was replaced. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving and she could not control the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the second dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 750.

While coming to a stop the vehicle lurches around 1200 rpms as the rpms are falling. The vehicle appears to already be in 1st gear when this happens. This can be replicated in all driving modes. observation: when braking or even when coasting to a stop the vehicle will slow down rapidly, as if the brakes are being tapped hard (the brake pressure is constant and occurs even when not braking) for a brief second and then release causing a lurching motion. This lurching motion is enough to concern while driving as a possible loss of traction. it feels as if the car is engine braking. This issue puts the driver, passengers, and other vehicles at a safety risk. I have had passengers state that it gives them motion sickness. I have reported this to the dealer and they had the car twice. The second time was for a substantial amount of time. The dealer is on record stating that they can recreate it, observe it, but have not been able to fix it. they have reset the software on several systems including the transmission. there are no third party devices on the car, the car is stock, there are no warning lights. This has been the case since day one of having the car (brand new).

After going through the car wash, I lost my rear brake lights and rear running lights. Still have the third brake light. From reading on many Porsche form sites, this is a common issue. The vehicle does not have adequate drains, in return, water leaks into multiple areas of the vehicle causing electrical shortages. You do not get any warning bells, or signs on the dash that you do not have rear taillights. It is a very dangerous issue.
