SummaryMINI Motorer-Focused Satisfaction (MFS) Program. Based on Motorer feedback, MINI has determined that during the first three years of service, some vehicles may require specific additional service work to be performed. MINI USA, a division of BMW of North America, LLC ("MINI USA") is pleased to announce the following Motorer-Focused Satisfaction (MFS) Program. This new program's procedure will be available for your dealer to address these Motorers' concerns, starting with claim repairs dates on or after September 1, 2014. As part of our Motorer Pledge to deliver an incredible MINI motoring experience, for the above-referenced MINI vehicles, we developed this program to increase our Motorers' satisfaction by helping to prevent unexpected dealer service repair visits.

SummaryErroneous "Service due" Message Although Brake Lining Thickness is Above Minimum Specification. The yellow "Service Due" warning message lights up in the instrument cluster, even though the brake pad thickness is more than 4.2mm (above the thickness at which the pad sensor intervenes). The calculated remaining service life for the brake pads (front and/or rear axle) from the CBS data does not match the actual brake pad thickness. Software calculation of the brake pad wear model in the DSC.

Summary"N14 and N18 Engine: High-pressure Pump Repair Instruction. INFORMATION The current version of ISTA/D Repair Instruction 13 51 017, ""Removing and installing or replacing high-pressure pump (N14, N18)"" has a procedure error. The current version of the Repair Instruction states to replace the high-pressure supply hose on the N14 engine. The Repair Instruction also states not to replace the high-pressure supply hose on the N18 engine. The N18 portion of the Repair Instruction is incorrect. As an interim solution, follow the procedure outlined below until this portion of the Repair Instruction is corrected. https://www.minitis.net/tiscode/cgi-bin/bulletin.aspx?sie_path=/tsb/bulletins/htm_store/159...2/5/2014 Page 2 of 2 Bosch High-pressure Pump (1): All vehicles equipped with the N18 engine and produced from 3/2012 and later When the engine is fitted with a Bosch High-pressure Pump (1), the highpressure supply hose (2) MUST NOT be replaced when making repairs. The remaining portion of the Repair Instruction and tightening torques is correct. Refer to EPC for the applicable part numbers when making repairs."

SummaryN16 and N18 Engine: Engine Ventilation Heating Faults Stored in DME Fault Memory After Programming. After reprogramming the vehicle to integration level R056-11-11-503 (ISTA/P P45.1.3.0) or higher, one of the following fault codes are stored in the DME fault memory: Vehicles with N16 engine: * 2F42 Engine ventilation heating, Control The Service Engine Soon lamp is not illuminated. Vehicles with N18 engine: * 37DE Engine ventilation, heating, triggering: open circuit The Service Engine Soon lamp is illuminated. CAUSE Due to a DME software change, the diagnostic monitoring capability is improved for the engine ventilation heating system. However, a fault will be stored in the fault memory because the engine ventilation heater circuit has a malfunction currently present. One of the following may be the cause: * Loose or defective electrical connection * Missing or defective crankcase ventilation heater relay.

Summary"N16 and N18 Engine Oil Leak. The customer states that a small engine oil leak can be seen from the underside of the engine. CAUSE The internal sealing of the oil pump volume control solenoid valve is compromised, allowing engine oil to leak from the oil pump volume control solenoid. DIAGNOSTIC Below is the procedure for identifying how far the engine oil has migrated inside the engine electrical harness, when this issue occurs, if at all. The procedure must be followed very carefully so that the proper repair is identified. 1. Disconnect the oil pump volume control solenoid valve electrical connection per Repair Instructions 11 41 519 ""Removing and installing or replacing the solenoid valve (engine oil pump)."" Inspect the electrical connector; if no engine oil is found inside the electrical connector, perform the oil pump volume control valve repair procedure. If engine oil is found inside the electrical connector, proceed to diagnostic procedure step 2. 2. Remove the cover from the DME and remove all three electrical connectors from the DME. Inspect the connectors for traces of engine oil. If no engine oil is found, perform the oil pump volume control valve repair procedure and replace the engine section of the wire harness. Refer to EPC for the additional part number. If engine oil is found in the DME connector, proceed to step 3. 3. If engine oil is found in the DME electrical connector, perform the oil pump volume control valve repair procedure, replace the engine section of the wire harness and replace the DME. Refer to EPC for the additional part numbers. Do not remove the engine oil pan. Do not replace the oil pump volume control valve. Do not replace engine oil pump. OIL PUMP VOLUME CONTROL VALVE REPAIR"

Summary"?SI M34 01 13 November 2013 BrakesTechnical Service This Service Information bulletin supersedes SI 34 01 13 dated October 2013. designates changes to this revision SUBJECT Erroneous ""Service due"" Message Though Brake Lining Thickness Sufficient. The CBS data calculated for the remaining distance of the front and/or rear brake pads does not agree with the actual brake pad thickness. The yellow brake lining service due indicator illuminates even though the pad thickness is greater than the minimum wear limit (approximately 3.7 mm); the brake wear sensor has not yet been activated (from a thickness of approx. 4.2 mm). In some cases, the red warning message may already be active. The CBS front/rear brake display is based on a mathematical calculation. Various influences are incorporated into this calculation (for example, vehicle speed, brake pressure, and rotor temperature). Due to changing driving characteristics and/or unfavorable environmental conditions, the calculated remaining distance may differ from actual pad thickness."
