  Some vehicles may have coolant leaks at the cylinder head around the exhaust manifold (as shown below). There may be cracks at the stud bolt hole or at the outside of the exhaust manifold. Cracks may be caused by: - Deformation of the exhaust manifold during usage causing unexpected force to certain areas of the cylinder head. - Residual stress generated during production in the cylinder head material may be greater than expected. The external force from the exhaust system when driving over bumps may cause unexpected force to certain areas of the cylinder head. To eliminate this concern, the design of the exhaust manifold gasket and the cylinder head has been modified to reduce the force on the cylinder head.

  Some customers may complain about a poor acceleration and rough idling or the CHECK ENGINE light ON with DTC P030X:00 (only turbo engines are applicable; non-turbo engines are NOT applicable). - In most cases, P030X is stored, but sometimes not. - Sometimes the CHECK ENGINE light does not recognize this engine concern. This is caused by the variable valve in the exhaust manifold seizing and causing the exhaust port to become hot and the exhaust valve seat to wear unevenly, resulting in compression leakage. To eliminate this concern, the design of the exhaust manifold has been modified.

  Summary

  Front Brake Noise Symptom 1: Some vehicles may exhibit a click noise when first moving forward or reverse from a stop OR when first applying the brakes while moving forward at slow speeds. This is caused by deteriorated grease between the brake pads and the shim, the front brake pads move upward/downward along with the brake rotors during brake application. When the vehicle moves or the brakes are applied the next time, the front brake pads move to the other side, which causes a click noise. Front Brake Noise Symptom 2: Some vehicles may exhibit the brakes having an unusual noise or vibration when applying the brake. This is caused by rust on the brake disk plate's surface. Rear Brake Noise Symptom 1: Some vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the rear brakes while braking lightly and occurs more frequently when driving at slow speeds. The noise is caused by poor contact between the guide plate and the mounting support. To eliminate this concern, the material of the pads has been changed to copper-free and the specification of the shims has been changed to a coated spring with tape. Rear Brake Noise Symptom 2: Some vehicles equipped with an electric parking brake (EPB) may exhibit a grinding noise from the rear brakes when braking. This may be caused by the rear brake pads not having the capability to remove the rust from the rear brake discs. The red rust accumulated on the discs is exposed to high temperatures during braking, and consequently the rust turns black. As the black rust is too hard to be removed by the brake pads, the rust progress is accelerated, resulting in the grinding noise.

  When replacing the engine oil on the diesel engine, be sure to drain the old oil properly and refill with the accurate amount. The latest engines are equipped with an oil level sensor that measures the amount of oil and stores a DTC according to the oil status. For proper detection of the DTC, proper oil drainage and an accurate replacement amount of oil are required when replacing the engine oil.

  Some vehicles may exhibit power outer mirror(s) that do not completely fold in and/or out. NOTE: This concern is unrelated to frozen mirrors in icy weather where snow or ice need to be removed for the mirrors to fold in and/or out. This concern may be caused by the following: - The space between the mirror frame and the inner base may be too tight to allow for proper movement. - Due to insufficient water tightness, water enters the electric fold-in unit and results in corrosion damage. - The friction around the folding mechanism shaft may become increased. To eliminate this concern, the following mass-production changes have been implemented: - The hole (1) in the mirror frame connected to the inner base has been enlarged. - The overlapping area (2) of the water-proof seal (inside electric fold-in unit) has been extended. - The washer material has been improved and an additional washer has been added to the shaft.

  Some vehicles may exhibit the following malfunctions: - The film on the center display is peeling off, as shown in the illustration below. This may be caused by cleaning the center display surface. Water and/or a cleaning solution may get into the scratches on the film and cause the film to start peeling (As a result, DTC B108E:04 may be stored). To eliminate this concern, the anti-reflective film has been modified to reduce scratches during cleaning. - The map on the center display may scroll by itself without operating the map (ghost touch). The thermal expansion and contraction of the touch panel may cause a deformation. Loosening of the touch panel resulting in increased wire resistance may be causing the map malfunction (As a result, DTC B108E:04 may be stored). To eliminate this concern, a protection film has been added in the touch panel to prevent deformation.
