EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Ever since I purchased my Defender back in 2021, the instrument cluster automatically dims. Usually when at dusk or dawn, the cluster dims so much, it is impossible to read with sunglasses, and very poorly lit without sunglasses. I have the dimmer switch set to the brightest setting, but it still automatically dims despite being set to the brightest.

Vehicle daytime running lights burn-out prematurely, after about a year or two. Common issue - Land Rover often will replace the entire headlight only for the lights to burn out again. the lighting on the 2023 Defender 110 is not adequate, particularly at dusk and in the evening. The brightness control does not adjust for the brightness needed to see gauges. This is a safety risk.

I have a 2023 Land Rover Defender 90. The instrumentation lighting auto adjusts on its own sometimes causing a hazardous situation. The issue is at dusk when the instrument panel goes haywire and will dim to almost completely dark making it illegible. This is a common issue reported by owners of Land Rover Defenders. 2019-current. This needs to be fixed!

Crack in windshield appeared without any impact. Crack began at top middle of windshield, in a perfectly straight ling for about 5 inches, then continued as an irregular line across the driver's viewing area, impairing visibility. Crack occurred after washing the vehicle on a hot day. There was no impact to the glass. Just water.

The 2023 Land Rover Defender said emissions fault and died in 4 lanes of busy traffic. This has happened since the first few miles but usually happens in a parking lot. The Defender also throws itself into neutral while in drive. This has happened multiple times and the car has less than $10k miles. I’ve taken it in before for the same issues, it’s getting towed again today.

Since I got Certified Pre-Owned 2021 Defender 90 First Edition exactly a month ago I noticed at speeds higher than 65mph a crackling noise that sounded like sand hitting my windshield and assumed it was coming from the windshield wipers being "loose" since the noise came from both front sides. Today while driving on the highway at about 70mph I heard a loud noise coming from the front right side of the car and when I looked the right windshield pillar molding had broken off and was hanging by the bottom. I had to pull over immediately and saw that the molding had broken off from the pillar and the plastic plugs were broken and therefore not able to be re-attached. Luckily I had Duct Tape on the car and had to use it to be able to continue my trip home. When it broke off, the molding also made scratches on the pain of the surrounding side panel and hood, plus the black door molding. During the remainder of the trip, I noticed that the crackling noise had stopped coming from the right side (since I had taped it with duct tape on all sides) however it was still coming from the left side, which led to the obvious conclusion that the moldings were not properly sealed and when in higher speeds the wind was coming in and causing the noise, and eventually led to the right side breaking. I inspected the left side molding and noticed at close look scratches on the hood pain at the base of the molding, which indicates that it had either previously broken off like what just happened to me on the right side, or had been previously assessed for the noise and the scratches happened during the process. Now that I arrived home I did a Google search and found that this is a frequent issue that many other owners experienced, I am surprised a factory recall wasn't issued for this problem, as it is dangerous since it could lead to accidents, and that the inspection for Certified cars also didn't catch the issued and addressed it.

This vehicle is equipped with the "Interactive Driver Display" (IDD), which is a full digital dash. Myself and several other members of enthusiast forums have reported that with recent software updates (PIVI 4.0), this display autodims entirely too dim to see. This happens in bright, full-sun, and half-sun cloudy conditions which prevent the driver from seeing the dashboard. This presents a major safety issue, as there is way to see the speed, tachometer, fuel gauge, warning lights of any kind (including pressure, safety warnings, engine temperature, etc.).

Took the vehicle out of the garage, drove 3 miles to the highway, got on the highway, traveling 65MPH, within 15 minutes of leaving home and no more than 5-10 minutes on the highway, the passenger rear tire blew out without warning, I did not hit any debris in the road. The vehicle veered with the sudden loss of pressure, no accident but occurred during rush hour. There were OEM on a 23.5yr Land Rover Defender. Continental CrossContact 275/45 R22

There were two separate issues. First was the battery dying once 4 months after purchase and again about 12 months after purchase. Both times we were lucky we were not out and about 4 wheeling like we normally do. Second is very recent about 18 months after purchase. Both the coolant feed and return lines to the turbo were leaking bad. O2 sensor came up faulty, as well as PCV diaphragm. This about the 4th serious issue we’ve had with this car. I expected this upon purchasing but got one anyways to try it out for off-roading. More to come soon!

The contact owns a 2022 Land Rover Defender. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the front windshield cracked without impact. The crack had formed underneath the camera location. Additionally, while driving at undisclosed speeds, the roof rack was moving. Additionally, the decal on the inside of the front window was vibrating while driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.
