Our vehicle is burning 1 to 2 quarts of oil every 1 thousand miles. They say this is normal but it seems excessive. I'm afraid the engine is going to die while driving it. This is dangerous and needs to be looked into. I'm not the only one with this issue.

- #11579942March 28, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, ENGINE, POWER TRAIN
The vehicle experiences a complete loss of power when slowing to a stop before it powers off on its own. The car powers off while going down the road. The car experiences partial loss of power while on cruise control and the car will slow to nearly stopped. The immediate loss of power puts myself and others at risk as the car is now stopping unexpected on the highway. I have left numerous voicemails for service managers at the dealership it was purchased brand-new from 2 years ago. They have not reached out to me. I had an appointment at their dealership to have the car inspected to see if this was covered with my warranty and they explained my warranty was only 60k miles and my car is now at 65k miles. The car was shutting off and having power loss a week before the first indicator light came on, which was the engine light. The code pulled for that sensor was the P0171 sensor which measures air in the fuel system and it stated "bank 1 running lean". I have now taken the car to a local shop and they are advising there was no oil in the car and there are metal shards in the valves in the engine. Werner KIA is the only shop that has ever worked on my car or changed the oil and they have not advised me of any oil leaks at all.

- #11575133March 3, 2024SERVICE BRAKES
At my last six month servicing the service person neglected to notice my annual inspection was due. He did, however, tell me my brake pads needed replacing. I asked how that was possible since the car had less than 10,000 miles on it. He went to check with the manager after which he came back and said my brakes were fine. I got a ticket two weeks ago for not having a current inspection. I tried to contact the dealer a half dozen times via phone and their chat feature. They did not get back to me as promised. I scheduled an inspection at a local station and the mechanic noticed when he took my tires off for rotating that my brake pads measured 5.32 seconds. There was no apparent reason for this unusual wear and tear. I tried again to reach the dealer to ask why there would be excess wear on the pads and again heard nothing back. I contacted Kia of America but they would only take a report until I got a diagnosis from a certified dealer. I reminded the rep that there would be a record from my last servicing of 11/23 but was put off with repetitions of the script they use. I am concerned that there is an issue with the rear brake installation on this car that could lead to a dangerous condition for drivers.

- #11574718February 29, 2024LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
After a rear end collision I noticed the blind spot monitoring on the passenger side intermittently malfunctioned. Drivers side has no issues. The symptoms were, ghost vehicle, no signal when a vehicle is obviously in the blind spot. Usually when passing a vehicle that is on the passenger side. Again, the driver side is fine. 1 trip to the boby shop and 3 to the Kia dealer, I am told that it is functioning fine. It is designed this way. See page 12 in the owners manual, reminders in small print. Also , I am not the only one experiencing this, see internet forums. The intended malfunctioning of this system is a significant design flaw. The intermittent factor just enhances the danger. I contacted corporate Kia and recieved no response. This is dangerous. The rear end collision made me aware of this issue but I think it is not secondary to the accident. Thank you

- #11574432February 28, 2024EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The contact owns a 2021 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, he became aware that the headlamps were not functioning properly. The exterior lighting warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that a short in the electrical system resulted in exterior lights burning out and identified burned wiring. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 13,000.

- #11574395February 28, 2024ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN, SUSPENSION
My vehicle at three months had transmission failure like many 2021 Kia souls after the repair I began to experience, mini electrical issues and steering issues which are very common for this model year. Most recently I have taken it in for electrical issues. My rear brake lights are not working the fuses burn and the wiring has burned. in addition, there is a bulletin that Kia put out to their dealers asking to repair suspension and steering problems on hundreds of thousands of vehicles but this is not a recall yet my vehicle experience the same symptoms and my vehicle was not repaired siding I was too close to the end of my warranty please see the last page the Kia bulletin regarding popping in the steering the dealer installed parts at purchase of the vehicle in 2021 and please see the brake light repairs Kia motors forced me to sign a disclaimer when the when the transmission went out siding, I would never complain about the vehicle. After submitting a case to the department of Justice in California, Kia instantly reopened my case. The wiring repairs were recorded on my invoices as #Warranty repairs, but when I call Kia motors themselves, they do not show any warranty repairs performed on my vehicle. I don’t understand why they are hiding this information. Again, please see the Kia bulletin in my attachments they did not repair my vehicle based on the bulletin.

In April 2023 I purchased a 2021 Kia Soul. I had no issues at all with my Used Kia Soul. In Nov 2023 I was in an accident. I hit a deer and that did cause damage. My insurance company fixed it. I got my car back in Dec [XX], 2023 with approximately 96,000 miles on it. A few days later on my way to work. I entered the highway the car was running fine at 70mph then all of a sudden it lost power.. No power in the middle of the busy Atlanta Highway!! I was able to coast onto the shoulder. At that point I turned the car off. Turn the car back on to see if I was able to get it into Drive. Unfortunately that didn’t work my car didn’t move at all. I had to call the tow company get it towed back down to the collision shop. Only for the collision shop to send it to a Kia dealership. My car had been at the dealership for a few weeks. Today is February 8. I got the notice from my insurance company that the Kia dealership said I had metal shavings inside of my transmission and fluid. How does that happen? Then I decided to do some research and I noticed that this transmission is a problem. Not only a problem for people that are struggling with bills and finance charges but a problem with the manufacturing of this product. I’m not sure why there isn’t a recall on this transmission, if I was unable to get off of the highway I would have been hit. What is being done about this problem? To add injury to insult my 100,000 mile warranty isn’t any good because I’m the second owner of the car. I don’t understand how this isn’t a safety recall issue. For years I have been experiencing the vehicle stalling, shutting off while driving, smelling oil burning and oil is disappearing which has me going to get an oil change every 1000 miles. Low oil light has never came on even when oil reservoir has been bone dry. My safety is jeopardized every time I drive this vehicle. This issue has been addressed to service center and they state according to Kia the excessive oil leak is “normal” and it’s not with any other vehicle. Also the service center does not know why oil is leaking or where oil is leaking which is a major concern. I no longer have free oil changes because I have used them all up due to multiple services for oil changes. Mind you I bought the car new in 2021.

[NHTSA SITE NOT ALLOWING ME TO UPLOAD DOCUMENTS - CONTACT ME FOR PICS/VIDEOS] All safety and driver assist malfunction warning lights display in succession - see pictures and video if upload-able. Had two Kia dealership service centers inspect and neither could replicate malfunctions nor would they document the issue. Incident has occurred sporadically between August and December 2023. If these aren't safety concerns (according to both dealerships), then when can a driver discern between fake and real malfunctions and safety failures. 8.23-24.23 - Spitzer Kia - purchased from and reported malfunctions on same/next day; told the windshield camera (sealed no less) is dirty or obstructed. Neither the case. Reported to salesman Caleb who consulted with service department. Told not a safety concern. 9/26/23 - Halleen Kia; Repair order 1709180/1 - Can't replicate; no diagnostic codes. Told not a safety concern. Dealership did not document on repair order. 11/8/23 - Spitzer Kia; Invoice - [XXX] Can't replicate. Told not safety concern unless warnings remain constant (not flashing). Dealership did not document on invoice. Asked if Spitzer reports these concerns to Kia. I got no response. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
