Service 4WD light came on. Took to Jeep dealership. They stated the PTU needs to be replaced. My car has been in the shop for over 4 months and no ETA on part arrival. This is a common issue in Jeep Cherokee’s but my VIN is not included in a recall. I was told by dealership it is safe to drive but I drive on the highway over and hour everyday to and from work. I have read it can result in loss of driving ability and the ability to put in park.

The car has over 18000 miles, in March 2025 we noticed a rattle at the right front area while going over rough roads. we took the car to the (Dealer Cerritos Jeep) and were told that the right front strut was (Broken ?) and it was under warrantee. Then was told the strut was out of production and it would be May 30 before they could get the replacement, May 30 was told that the all the parts did not arrive, we left the car there June 23, June 24 they said the design had changed and needed to get more mounting parts to install it. today we pick the car up QUESTION: I was taught that when replacing an suspension you don't replace just one, you replace two! my research says that it is still a practice today. The dealer is replacing only the right Strut, we are concerned the we have one questionable strut with 18000+ miles on and is in some way mechanically different then the new strut. The dealer stands on just replacing the one strut

We have 2022 Jeep Cherokee. The passenger visor falls out of the case hole causing a visual safety issue. This defect is casued by a poorly designed clip. The cost of the clip if over $950 with a total cost of $1025.73. We went to the dealership (Courtesy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Superstition Springs Mesa Arizona 85206) and apparently it's a consistent problem with many of the Chrysler vehicles. This issue is needs to fixed with a manufacurer recall. Spoke with service agent Tommy who agreed this is a problem. 480-830-8001 I current have pushed the visor stem back into place but it will not stay in place

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly downshift upon depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the "Service 4WD" message was intermittently displayed on the instrument panel. The failure occurred while the message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions, and the contact was informed that the failure could not be duplicated. The contact was assured that the vehicle was safe to drive despite the persistent failure. The contact drove the vehicle across the country without failure; however, the failure returned after a while. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, where a code reader retrieved codes related to the Power Control Unit. The contact was advised to leave the vehicle with the dealer until the vehicle could be diagnosed; however, the contact would not be scheduled for an appointment for two months. The contact was not provided a loaner vehicle and continued driving the vehicle with the "Service Forward Collision Warning" and check engine messages were displayed on the instrument panel. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Driving down parkway started making grinding & thumping noise. lost power. Was able to get vehicle to shoulder. All dash lights on. Vehicle transmission non responsive. Service 4WD message on. Had to have car towed to nearest Jeep dealer. Needs new PTU part number: 68333255AE. Still under warranty, but 800 units are currently on back order. No ETA. Have been without car for 2 months including waiting for rear differential that was on backorder April 2023. Can Stelantis be forced to replace vehicle?

Today May 20, 2024 we called the NHTS to inform that we did received the notification from the manufacturer indicating that there is indeed an important safety recall which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. In the same letter the manufacturer states that The remedy for this condition is currently unavailable. When asking about what is considered a reasonable amount of time to solve this issue we were told that around July 20, 2024 we should expect a letter with the official findings. We are just writing this report to show that we are aware of the situation and awaiting the official resolution.

The vehicle makes a "pumping" noise when starting to acquire cruising speed. The noise started after the front brakes had to be replaced a few months after the purchase. Before the installation of the new brakes it was just fine. The car has been checked for this noise about two times already but the noise being intermittent is not always present when being checked. There has not been any warning lights or messages.

on May 3 at approx. 4:00 pm I was sitting at a stop light and when it turned green I started to accelerate the jolt was so hard that I thought the car behind me had hit me.When I went to go again it started rolling backwards and I applied the brakes.I could not put it in reverse or drive or even in park; it just kept rolling down the ramp.I applied the emergency brake to keep it from rolling back onto the highway.I called the Jeep dealership closest to my home and they said it sounded like the TPU went out. There were no recorded messages on my computer system in the jeep. I had it towed to the dealership and after a couple of days, I was told the rear differential was going out as well and that it was going to cost a couple thousand dollars. After doing a little research I found out there was a recall on Jeep Cherokees in 2016-2017 for the exact same thing!I also discovered that when the TPU goes out it damages the rear differential and the transmission, so they are connected; not separate as the service manager lead me to believe. This Jeep is 2 years old and has 70,000 miles on it. The drive train is out of warranty by 10,000 miles. The car is mainly used on the highway and has never been off-road.I changed the oil regularly and took excellent care of it. It is I still consider to be a new vehicle. When the service manager tried to order the parts he was told they were not available due to issues.?I contacted customer care at Jeep Wave and they told me that since it is out of warranty they would help; but not much!I have been without a vehicle for almost two weeks now and I was told it could be months and expensive! If the transmission needs repaired it will add another $10,000.00 to the bill. I drive for a foster care company and now these children are not allowed visits due to this situation. Why is there no recall?

- #11575065March 2, 2024POWER TRAIN, ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On [XXX], we were traveling from Seattle to Portland on [XXX] in my 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with the cruise control set at around 75 mph. Suddenly the emergency collision braking system applied and all of the lights on my vehicle lit up. While the braking system was being applied the cruise control was simultaneously applying gas resulting in the vehicle RPM redlining on multiple occasions. Fortunately, the weather was good, traffic was light, and I was able to maintain control of the vehicle to pull over once a vehicle in the slow lane passed. When stopped the engine light was on, along with an alarm for loss of electronic stability control (ESC), and an alarm for brake service. After clearing the ESC alarm by restarting my vehicle multiple times as indicated in the owner's manual I tried to operate the vehicle. However, the vehicle would not move properly in to drive (noise and felt like the brake was applied). We then decided to contact Jeep roadside assistance for an emergency tow covered by the warranty. We towed the vehicle to the nearest Jeep dealership which was closed for the weekend. On Monday, the dealership informed us that the power transfer unit (PTU) had failed and would need to be replaced. Regarding additional mechanical damage, a determination could not be made until the PTU was replaced. On Tuesday, the dealership advised that the PTU was on an engineering hold until March 20th as the part was now being produced by a new vendor. At this time it appears my vehicle will be inoperable for more than a month until the part is released from the engineering hold. I am concerned that PTU failure is a serious safety defect similar to what has occurred in past model years of the Jeep Cherokee. - #11567608January 24, 2024ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
In late November 2023 I noticed my fuel economy dropping a lot, from 27-29mpg to 22-24mpg. And, soon tailpipes were accumulating a lot of soot in tailpipes and soot was coming out of end of muffler. I took to JEEP dealer in Palestine, TX. See invoice uploaded. Service advisor couldn't find any bad codes. He wrote some guesses as to source/cause of problem & suggested using more expensive, higher grade of gasoline. He said to try some catalytic converter cleaner, also. Seems, he thinks the braking system may be causing soot troubles. This soot problem will cause injector, spark plug, catalytic converter expenses in future! And, I have to spend much more for gasoline? I think main control module is defective and is missing computer code to properly detect this problem or is intentionally designed to ignore the cause of the excessive soot problem. It is not normal to have soot in a new vehicle!!! I've worked on vehicles since 1950s until US Government mandated electronics made us weekend mechanics obsolete. I've seen soot in old cars, pickups, tractors, other engines; but in a properly running newer vehicle. Maybe rings are bad in this engine. Maybe sensors need to be replaces but main control unit is designed to ignore soot producing part(s). Maybe sensors do not work properly especially in cold weather and causes a too rich gasoline mix in engine. But, dealers only obey what codes tell them. This sounds similar to the VW scandal where VW intentionally made software that could evade emissions control tests. JEEP has made soot problem disappear whereby sensors do not see soot being produced by V6 JEEP engine because main control unit software code has been written to do such: EVADE DETECTION THAT CAUSES NO ENGINE LIGHT ERROR NOTICE IN DRIVERS DISPLAY AND NOTHING IN DEALERS INSPECTION/DIAGNOSIS SOFTWARE. HEAVY SOOT NOT DETECTED BY JEEP's ENGINE SENSORS AND MAIN CONTROL UNIT? In person can see more soot, photos don't show 3D depth as it really is.

- #11567587January 24, 2024VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Your website has some trouble & won't accept my jpg files. First time to see this. I use cruise control all the time on 3 vehicles I own. But, this JEEP has a strange problem that is not safe. Almost all vehicles I have driven with cruise controls will exceed set speed by 1~3mph while going down a steep hill. But my JEEP will exceed by 5~7mph on steep hills. I have turned off cruise control when it didn't control speed and drove manually for a while, then used cruise control again. If I set at 70mph, often speed will increase to 75~77mph going downhill; then brakes will engage strongly (hard braking) and JEEP will quickly go below 70 mph. JEEP will brake hard, go to or below 70mph then speed up some then brake hard again! Two-three times I had 18 wheelers behind me going down steep hill when I was using cruise control, JEEP quickly reached 75~77mph, then suddenly brakes clamped down with a lot of force and big trucks had to hit their brakes hard and were not far from my rear bumper. I do watch in rear view mirror often when driving. There are a lot of hills in my area of East Texas. I also watch out for smaller vehicles also when I use cruise control, especially going downhill. I took JEEP to a dealer Jan. 24, 2024 in Palestine, TX 75801 to check excessive carbon SOOT in tailpipes, coming out of muffler. And, I told service Mgr. about bad cruise control braking. They did nothing. Now, see Elliott JEEP dealer Service Invoice [XXX]. Dealer wasn't interested in looking a cruise control problem. He checked only excessive soot problem and maybe did a multipoint inspection. Also, this JEEP couldn't possible pass an EPA emissions control. I THINK THERE ARE SOME REAL DEFECTS IN MAIN CONTROL MODULE!!!! DEFECTIVE SPEED OR CRUISE CONTROL. DEFECTIVE AIR/FUEL SENSOR CONTROL MAKING A LOT OF SOOT. DISPLAY DEFECTIVE FOR GASOLINE & TEMPERATURE GUAGES IN DISPLAY. In 2023, I told different dealer about cruise control trouble and he didn't check anything, either. While driving on active roadways (including major highways during rush hour, a major downtown city at intersections with crosswalks during rush hour, and while exiting a parking garage), the vehicle suddenly stops, sounds a brief alarm and flashes one of 3 error messages on the dash board ("Shift to Drive", "....to shift", "...vehicle must be stopped"), while the "D" on the dashboard and the shifter flash (with the vehicle still in the "Drive" position). On one occasion, an additional message requested to turn the vehicle on. To resolve the issue in the moment, the vehicle must be shifted up to "Park", then brought back down to "Drive". Once returning to back to the "Drive" position, the vehicle resumes operation. The auto start had been turned off for at least most of these events. The stopping while actively driving has happened on 5 separate occasions and has been brought to 2 different Jeep dealers on 3 different occasions (totaling approximately 2 weeks) to try to identify the issue. Both dealerships have been unable to replicate the malfunction and have been unable to identify an error code. There has been no advisement by Jeep Corporation other than to keep driving the vehicle and video record the event if it is safe to do so (I was able to obtain 2 videos). The events have happened in the months of June, November, and December, and in the morning, mid-day, and afternoon, and when both accelerating and decelerating. There does not appear to be any particular condition preceding the failure. A vehicle suddenly stopping on the highway places myself and others on the road at risk of a serious accident, as does the vehicle failing at an intersection in a major city. There was a large tractor trailer behind me honking his horn during the first event, etc.

While stopping at a light, the car will just stall. While driving, the car will stall. This is all a safety issue, especially at night when the car stalls and you have no lights or any way for anybody to see you.
