Told previous recall on engine was not needed on this vehicle while vehicle has same stalling issue that caused previous recall on engine. On july 5 2024 engine locked up nearly creating a wreck. Previous recall clearly is wider spread than hyundai is admitting. Now my car that is 8000 miles out of warranty needs an engine they claimed was not affected by previous recall but has same issue and originally fell under previous recall.

The contact stated that the fractured glass fell onto the contact while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective sunroof glass. ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
I have two Hyundai vehicles one is a 2018 Tucson and a 2019 Kona. They both broke down at precisely the same time at 109,000 miles. One was the catalytic converter dealership was going to charge $5,000 for repair found a less expensive place to do it for $2,000. i was told by several of the mechanics at both places that it was a common problem. My point is I just paid the vehicle off it was just out of warranty then your stuck with it. Dealership just shrugged it off as maybe you should buy a new vehicle. The second vehicle Kona had some catalytic damage but not enough to replace the crankshaft positioning sensor failed caused the car to basically shut down on the roadway all of the ADAS systems failed. Again dealership was going to charge $2,000 found aftermarket place to do for $1,000. I'm sure nothing can be done for me but I feel it should be documented if people in the industry are telling me this is a familiar occurrence then maybe someone should look into it.

I purchased this 2022 Kona used with 12,000 miles in April 2024. On 4 occasions it has failed to start. When starting the vehicle with push button I only heard a series of clicking. There was no other sound made while trying to start the car. My husband had a remote jumper and attached it to the battery as directed on the jumper, then pushed the start button. The vehicle started immediately. The vehicle then ran normally. I episode occurred after the vehicle sat while we were away for 2 weeks on vacation. Again, using the remote jumper, the vehicle started immediately. Another occasion, the vehicle was driven that day and when attempting to move the car from the driveway into the garage, it once again failed to start. Just a series of clicking sounds. Application of the remote jumper once again started the car immediately. On the 4 th occasion (XXX) I was stopped at a traffic light waiting for the right turn arrow to appear. It was raining hard. The vehicle cut off (as it normally does when idling while stopped) then the dashboard went dead. The safety flashers would not work nor could I restart the car. This time there was no sound or clicking. I exited the vehicle in heavy rain and traffic, got the remote jumper from the trunk, raised the hood in the rain and heavy traffic and proceeded to attach the jumper to the car battery. The car started immediately. This last occasion of the vehicle shutting down was extremely dangerous. As I stated it occurred in a heavy rain in a very congested and heavily traveled city road. Visibility was poor due to the weather and lack of safety flashers (Toledo, Ohio at the corner of [XXX] ). I was fearful standing outside the vehicle with so much traffic. I was blocking the right turn lane so people behind me were not happy. I am [XXX] and unable to push it to the side of road. ENGINE, POWER TRAIN, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
My check engine lights come on and then the front collision lights come on which reduces speed while on highway and then the engine turns off making it very unsafe driving on the highway. I have tried to schedule appts with dealerships to have it checked telling them how unsafe it is and I need my car to get to work. But they never have any openings except months down the road. I am afraid it will cause a terrible accident. I have taken my vehicle to repair shops ... some said it was the spark plugs so I got them changed and other maintenance costing me over $800 and the problem still exists ... still trying to get an appt with the dealership which will cost me another $220 just to get it diagnosed. There need to be a recall if it's happening to alot of people. I am very afraid if this issue isn't fixed and it's gonna cost me to repair it in the thousands that I don't have. Someone is going to get into a bad accident because the engine will turn off while driving.

While driving, my car completely turned off and the dashboard say “engine turn off”. This happened on two separate occasions. Also on separate occasions while i was driving the beep to indicate that i was too close to another car went off when i was not near another car, during that time it also emergency breaked on its own.

My car is having problems due to excessive oil consumption. I took it to the dealership to get it fixed and tested for the recall. They said the recall had nothing to do with it. Took it to another mechanic for a diagnostic, the other mechanic stated that the excessive oil consumption was caused by recall that they didn't fix, and it can be stopped by getting the recall fixed.

The contact stated that when starting the vehicle, the system check lights were illuminated normally; however, all the system symbols had a red "exclamation mark" next to the symbols. Additionally, the contact stated that the horn and many safety features were no longer operable. The contact stated that the Lane Departure warning, Blind Spot warning, and the radio were inoperable. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the main computer was not interfacing with the safety systems. while traveling from MN to KY on the interstate on two separate occasions the vehicle suddenly applied the brakes at Highway speeds around of 80mph. There was nothing Infront of me on either occasion. Then the next day it did it again at highway speed. Then I was driving on a mountain road in the smokies and it gave me a message that the front camera was blocked, and it was turning off the safety braking etc, I stopped when I could and took pictures there was nothing blocking the camera. I had a similar problem in March of this year which is documented by Hyundai Customer service as the Dealership told me that they could do nothing to help me.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Forward Safety Mode is the default setting on every time you start the vehicle and this mode when entering from side streets or any strip center or lane into on coming traffic lanes the vehicle senses you crossing the road lines and kills the Accelerator ! When trying to enter onto the main road even if you allow enough time to accelerate to pull out onto main road : The vehicle thinks you are off raod or in some sort of danger and kills the accelerator and if you think fast enough after the 2-3 second delay you can floor the accelerator and the vehicle will then start picking up after a dangerous delay that can get someone t-boned and very serious accident if not possible death. Its a very dangerous function. Note: I manually go in and turn this forward safety to warning only or off. I use the warning but the real problem is you have to do this upon every start after turning the engine off. I think this needs to be seriously looked into.If you dont turn to warning setting and go to say pull out of a store onto the highway and dont leave enough time to avoid on coming traffic and or you freeze due to no accelleration you are in deep trouble and maybe an accident !! Or Death..

The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Kona. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH up an incline, the vehicle started losing motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the cylinder #3 spark plug. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who then determined that there was a misfire in cylinder #3. The vehicle was not repaired.
