The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The contact owns a 2023 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while his wife was driving 20 MPH, attempting to make left turn, she noticed the passenger side rear view mirror was shattered. The contact mention some of the glass did get into the vehicle. No injuries were sustained. a dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and they informed the contact there was no recall for the passenger side rear view mirror. The vehicle was not repaired for the mirror, however the vehicle is currently being serviced for oil change and tire rotation, and brake fluid flush. The contact was relating the failure to an article that he read online regarding this failure for the years 2020-2022. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case number. The failure mileage was 33,000.

I am an engineer and my respect of the laws of probability makes me a cautious driver. I've had m+y 2025 Honda Odyssey for six months, but only driven it 500 miles since it cannot be trusted. I stopped at a light waiting to safely make a left hand turn. I began my turn with enough time for two vehicles to follow me. After pressing the accelerator the vehicle slowly responded. The stall left me in the intersection, so I accelerated hard to avoid being killed. The sudden acceleration was difficult to control and almost resulted in me going off the road. I've come to learn this resulted from a Honda design decision. They have a feature called "Auto Idle Stop" that is ON BY DEFAULT. I was never informed of this feature and believe this was a reckless, or should we say reckmore, decision. This was clearly a deadly design decision. The USG must fix this. In addition, the USG should charge the engineers, and their management, for reckless endangerment.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
This is regarding the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) I will be driving on side streets around town (driving kids to school and daycare) and there will be no vehicle/obstacle near me/ in front of me and my van will flash on the dashboard "brake" and then it slams on the brake. This has happened at least 5-6 times as of todays date 5/20/25. There is no warning or reason for the car to brake like this. I have brought this to the Honda dealer two times now once I realized how serious this was. I was informed that since it isn't throwing a code there is nothing they can do. This is a serious safety risk not only to myself but to my children- this is a van so most people who drive this have small children. The last two incidents i was inches from being rear ended with my children in the car. The time before that I had my family from out of town in my car, that could have been eight people seriously injured or killed for no reason.

The contact stated while at a stop light and depressing the brake pedal, the engine turned off; however, once the accelerator pedal was depressed, the Auto START/STOP failed to operate as intended. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle started to work as intended. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

MY 2023 Odyssey has 40K miles and the cam shaft bearing is deteriorating and my engine oil is full of shavings. The dealership is acting as if because I did not get my oil changed there, that it somehow isnt their fault and not covered under the warranty. The rear lift gate malfunctioned, causing my rear lift gate to get scratch from top to bottom because the lift gate would NOT STOP. I have never had issues with manually stopping the lift gate. I pushed the button and let it come up and then used force to stop it and it would not stop. I do CrossFit 5 days a week and find myself to be strong suit, I physically could not stop this lift gate. It broke two of my nails in the process because I was doing everything I could to stop the lift gate. Instead of stopping it kept going scratching up against our basketball hoop because it malfunctioned. what if this was my arm or my leg stuck in between versus an item? What if this was someone's head, including my children's head? it would have decapitated them. The amount of force of this lift gate was insane, there was absolutely no stopping it. I have an issue with this, not safe at all. You should be able to easily stop this back lift gate without that much physical force. Our honda odyssey lift gate malfunctioned and WOULD NOT STOP

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Vehicle Make/Model/Year: 2022 Honda Odyssey Date of Incident: 5-1-25 Mileage at Incident: 30,000 Summary of Incident: While my 2022 Honda Odyssey was fully stopped in traffic with my foot firmly on the brake pedal, the vehicle unexpectedly lurched forward and struck the car in front of me. Just before or during the lurch, the brake system warning light appeared on the dashboard. I did not have my foot on the accelerator at any time. The road was flat and weather conditions were normal. The Idle Stop system has not been functioning for several months, so the vehicle was operating in normal engine-on mode. Despite this, the car surged forward from a full stop, indicating a possible failure in the brake system, electronic throttle control, or a software/ECU malfunction. This was a dangerous, uncommanded movement of the vehicle while stopped, which resulted in a minor collision. Thankfully, no one was injured, but this poses a serious safety hazard, especially if it were to occur in crosswalks or at intersections. I will report the issue to Honda the dealership and requested a full diagnostic inspection. I am submitting this complaint because this incident could have caused serious injury or worse and may be part of a broader defect affecting brake or throttle systems on this model.

Honda issued a recall of the MOST Bus Network which was done on my vehicle on 7/21/23. However, recently the vehicle started making static noise from the speakers whether the radio was on or not and eventually displayed a "Network Communication error MOST Network Off" error screen on the display temporarily. During these outages the display is completely unavailable and presents a hazard since the rear camera is unavailable. Since the display reboots and only happens intermittently the dealer was unable to reproduce the error and believes the vehicle is "operating to Honda specifications." Despite the fact that we have photos and videos of this issue occurring multiple times! This is a known issue in multiple other year/make/models of Honda vehicles which were eventually recalled. Clearly they have not corrected the issue in the 2022 Honda Odyssey and should be subject to dealer recall and replaced and repaired.

No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that a musty odor was emitting from the vehicle. No cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the carpet in the back interior has mold. The vehicle was not repaired. I was driving my vehicle and accelerating. My vehicle suddenly braked with no warning while I was driving. I hit my left side of my head as I was not expecting this to happen. I was nearly rear-ended/nearly caused a multi car accident. It was incredibly scary to have the CMBS go off for absolutely no reason. There was no car ahead of me or other reason for it to happen.

Not sure about what component could have triggered but I started seeing smoke and fire from the front hood. I managed to stop and exit the call to call emergency services. The fire aggravated that the whole car was burned. The dealer was notified as well as the Honda but yet to hear back. The claim is also filed with insurance company that they indicated to be getting custody of the vehicle to inspect.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
It started that all the sensor in our car started to go off. We were told we had a bad battery, even thought we had replaced it new just last year. Once we had the battery checked and alternator. The sensors started to act up again, out tail gate started to malfunction. Wouldn’t automatically close. A few weeks ago driving down the road the tail gate opened and the anti theft system started going off while the car was running and still going. Come to find out there is a water leak in the rear that has gotten into the rear fuse box and has cause substantial corrosion. The latch to the tail gate is broken. Honda is telling us our extended warranty doesn’t cover any of this, even though it is common knowledge, that the water leak is a known problem from 2018-2021. We just found out a few days ago.

Car has completely shut off when the auto start/stop engaged after coming to a stop at a red light/stop sign on multiple occasions. Everything shut completely off, no radio, lights, etc. Had to push the start button multiple times to turn the car back on. Please investigate as I have read of this happening to many other people with 0 solution from Honda. This is a defect and should be recalled/fixed.

On occasion, engine fails to restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or road intersection when the Auto Idle Stop function is engaged. Engine and electronics in vehicle completely shut off, requiring the driver to put the vehicle in park and turn the car on again by pressing the Start button.
