SEAT BELTS, SEATS
While child was seated in the rear right second-row seat of a 2022 Honda Odyssey Touring, the seat belt became stuck and jammed, trapping the child in the car seat. Multiple attempts were made to release the child but the seat belt mechanism would not release. The child became distressed and complained of difficulty breathing. As an emergency measure, the child car seat had to be physically cut and destroyed to free the child. The vehicle was subsequently taken to the dealer. The dealer confirmed that the rear right second-row seat belt was found cut in half and that the seat frame had to be replaced. Dealer stated the belt mechanism tested normal during post-incident inspection but was unable to reproduce the entrapment condition. The seat belt tensioner is suspected of having gotten stuck, causing the entrapment. This is a serious child safety incident involving potential entrapment and breathing distress in the second-row seating area.

While the van is at a complete stop at the intersection it shuts off and behaves as if it needs to be restarted. A message appears instructing me to press the brake and push the start button to start the van. I took it to Honda, but they were unable to find the issue. They replaced the battery to see if that would fix the problem, but about a month later, it happened again.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On three separate occasions — May 17, May 20, and May 29, 2026 — the vehicle's Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) / Collision Mitigation Braking System activated without cause while traveling at highway speed (one of these occasions was on an interstate). On each occasion, no vehicles, pedestrians, or obstructions were present ahead of or around the vehicle. The road was clear. The activation produced a large bright yellow dash notification and the vehicle's brakes activated. Minor children were passengers in the vehicle during these events. The vehicle has an active Florida Lemon Law case with multiple prior documented electrical nonconformities. When I attempted to schedule yet another service appointment to have THIS defect diagnosed, the dealer, who sold me the vehicle, refused to service the vehicle due to the pending lemon law status and directed me to contact Honda Corporate. When I asked the dealer to provide their refusal and the requirement for Corporate authorization in writing, they declined to do so. Honda Corporate has not responded in over 72 hours. The Auto Idle Stop has failed to restart the car when stopped at a traffic light. This has happened twice now, and has caused me to become a road hazard as I am not able to get the car turned back on before the light turns green. This has happened twice in the past month (May 7 2026 and June 1 2026). Have not yet taken the car back to the dealer. No warning lights or anything came on prior to the incident. Just stopped at a light and the engine stopped, then did not turn back on when the brake pedal was lifted.

The auto idle stop on this specific vehicle has left me stopped in traffic numerous times. If left on, it frequently will cause the car to turn off when attempting to start from a stop at a intersection, causing a back up or near collision in some instances. It takes 5 - 10 seconds minimum to recognize what has happened, shift to park (if the vehicles allows, which sometimes does not), and restart the car. This being said, I have other Honda's with the same function, and all work normally (as expected), turning off the car when stopped briefly, and starting immediately upon letting off the brake or pushing the gas. -It's only this 2024 Odyssey with this issue- I have spoken with other owners of the same year model and have had the same complaint. The mechanics at the dealership have even said that it is a known issue with this model year, but that Honda has not fixed. This vehicle has been to the delearship at least 3 times to attempt to fix. A new battery was also not a solution. The issue continued after replacement.

When driving with or without the cruise the word BRAKE appears and the van taps it breaks automatically even when there is no reason to do so. There is no vehicle in front or anything on the road to be detected. It occasionally happens when there is a vehicle in the oncoming lane, but happens more often when there are no other vehicles close enough to be detected or cause me to need to slow down. It has been happening for some time now, but I did not know how to report it.

STEERING, SUSPENSION
Noise coming from front driver side suspension or steering column/components. The noise is very light, but sounds like a clunking/rattle and can be felt through the steering wheel. It is intermittent. Because I am unsure what is actually causing the noise, I cannot state whether it is actually part of the suspension system or steering column area. The dealership cannot replicate the noise, so it has been turned away twice now. Does not feel safe. Searching other odyssey forums, it is something that is reproduced by others who have bought a 2025-2026 Honda odyssey.

My wife and kids were driving down the highway when the moonroof spontaneously exploded. It made a loud popping noise and glass rained down on my wife and two young kids. No warning signs at all. Luckily everyone is safe but this did cause some traumatic. We do feel uncertain about moonroofs now and are considering a different vehicle.

Car completely turns off when I’m stopped and idle stop has engaged. Seems to happen when the AC is running hard. Sometimes, the car turns back on by itself in seconds. Other times, I have to turn the car back on myself by pressing the “engine on” button, and I struggle to get the car to turn back on. Very dangerous to be obstructing traffic at busy intersections or on a busy highway when stopped while another car ahead is making a turn. I’m scared to drive this car with my children in it. It is a minivan! I understand this is a known issue under investigation by NHTSA, but I’m struggling to get my local Honda dealer to acknowledge and address it. This issue happens at least 1x a day when I’m running the AC.

Moonroof exploded while driving 55 mph. I took pictures. It was completely distracting while driving and a very scary incident. Searching online provided a class action lawsuit against Honda for this issue. We have not been able to get it looked at due to it being the weekend and the service department is not open. No police were called. Insurance claim started. No warning before it happened.

While stopped at a red light the engine turned off with the engine restart function. When I released the brake the engine attempted to start and then completely stalled. I had to get the vehicle in park and restart the engine with took it a few attempts of pressing the start button. The has happened a few times with this vehicle. Dealers have been unable to replicate the issue to try to solve the problem.

Last week, I opened my vehicle door and noticed water standing in the foot well. I didn't think too much of it until I started driving down the street and gallons of water were gushing on my feet in the footwell from behind the steering wheel and fuse box. I parked and waited for it to dry out a few days. I took my vehicle to the dealer and was shocked to hear that this is caused because the sunroof has a drainage system, and when the primary drain clogs, due to pollen or dirt, the secondary drain drains directly into the driver footwell. They advised that this is an issue that disregards vehicle age and sunroof non-use. Because this is a new vehicle, all of my basic maintenance and inspections have been provider by the Honda dealer. I asked why this had not been inspected on my previous service appointments and was told the primary drain for the sunroof can only be inspected by camera. It is only when the primary drain becomes clogged that the water dumps into the driver side footwell. I searched my owner manual and found nothing to indicate or require that the primary sunroof drain should be inspected, cleaned or serviced, at any of the maintenance intervals, and especially not during the first 2 years of ownership. The steering column, fuse box, and driver footwell house all of the necessary electrical and mechanical parts for steering, braking, acceleration, lighting and all other electrical systems controls. Additionally, if this were to happen while driving, the distraction to the driver could be catastrophic. My vehicle has been at the dealer for a week to clear the clog in the primary sunroof drain, remove the seat and carpet to dry, & inspect the electric systems including the power seat. I can make the vehicle available for inspection as needed and the dealer can provide the camera inspection that diagnosed the issue. This happened due to everyday dust and pollen, and there was no advance warning that this drain failure was imminent.

The Auto Idle Stop (AIS) system malfunctions during normal driving. When coming to a stop, the AIS shuts off the engine as designed, but the vehicle then fails to restart when the brake is released. The vehicle shifts itself into Park automatically without driver input, either before or at the same time as a dashboard message appears instructing the driver to depress the brake pedal and press the start button. When the start button is pressed, the dash resets but the engine does not start. The only way to recover is to fully power the vehicle off and restart it, which is difficult and unsafe at a busy intersection or red light. This puts the driver and others at serious risk. The vehicle becomes immobilized in traffic with no ability to move it out of the path of oncoming or following vehicles, creating a risk of being rear-ended. The unexpected automatic shift into Park is also a vehicle control concern, as the driver does not initiate it. The problem is intermittent. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized dealer twice. On the first visit the dealer kept the vehicle several days with a loaner and attempted to replicate the issue but could not. On the second visit the dealer kept the vehicle one day and again could not reproduce it. A third diagnostic visit is scheduled, during which the service manager intends to drive the vehicle to attempt replication. As of now the failure has not been confirmed or reproduced by the dealer. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. No warning lamps appear prior to the failure. The only symptom is the automatic shift into Park and the dashboard message to depress the brake and restart, which appear at the moment of the malfunction. The first occurrence was at approximately 25,000 miles. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives.

The starter is failing and with automatic dial shut off it caused an issue while in middle of intersection waiting to turn. The car would not start and had issues. Took it into the dealership Wyatt Johnson in Clarksville, TN they said they could get it to show an 8volt which is a reduction and shows that it is failing, but said Honda would not replace until it fails in the dealership. This is a safety concern an [XXX] iles [XXX] rning of more electrical issues that a safety concern the sensors go off all the time in the rain and sometimes when in reverse in an empty parking lot. The doors do not always lock like they should and these are all electrical issues. Honda refuses to replace even though it shows signs of failure! The idle stop on my 2025 Odyssey sometimes does not turn back on when it turns off at a red light. I have to then completely turn off my vehicle and turn it back on in order for the vehicle to work again. Also, when first turning on my car sometimes It’s very laggy in fully starting. This is a great safety concern, especially when at a red light or at a stop sign when trying to apply gas and it doesn’t turn back on. This is a problem we’ve heard is being experienced by 2025 Odysseys. The dealership we took it to could not replicate the problem they said the battery was totally fine.
