Wireless Apple CarPlay disconnects by itself during navigation. The infotainment screen returns to the Honda home screen showing no connection. This happens intermittently, sometimes after just a few minutes of driving. When navigation suddenly disappears while driving, I have to handle my phone to restart navigation, which distracts me from the road. This happens with both Apple Maps and Google Maps. Other Honda HR-V owners have reported the same problem to NHTSA. The dealer has not been able to fix it.

1. I was traveling at 45 mph and slowed to make a right turn when the steering wheel locked into a turning position. This prevented me from safely steering the vehicle. It is available for inspection. 2. My safety was put at risk because the steering wheel was unusable while it was locked, making it unsafe to drive. 3. The dealer claimed they could not replicate the problem. 4. The dealer's service center is the only place that has inspected it so far, and because they couldn't replicate the issue, they did not do anything to address it. We contacted the manufacturer and are currently trying to resolve this with them. 5. About 3 seconds after the steering wheel locked, an image of an orange steering wheel next to an orange exclamation mark appeared on the display and with it a message that said, “Electric power steering system problem. Steering assist reduced. See your dealer.” As I slowed the vehicle down, the wheel unlocked and I regained control. The warning indicator displayed for about 4 seconds. The icon and associated message disappearing coincided with the steering wheel unlocking. The wheel was locked for about 7 seconds total. I attached an image of the message in the "files" section. The image was not taken in my vehicle, but it is the same message I remember seeing on the dash.

I own a new 2027 Honda HR-V EX-L. I have experienced four separate incidents involving a sudden steering problem. During these incidents, the steering wheel unexpectedly jerked or shook, and the orange steering warning light appeared briefly. During the fourth incident, at approximately 38 mph, the steering suddenly became very stiff, and the vehicle pulled toward the left. After a few seconds, the steering returned to normal. My wife witnessed the third and fourth incidents. I am concerned that this intermittent steering problem could cause a loss of the vehicle control and create a serious safety risk. The dealership inspected the vehicle but did not identify the cause of the problem. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for further evaluation. I was informed that a Honda field technician may take approximately four weeks to become available. Because the problem is intermittent, it may not occur during testing. The exact cause is unknown. I am reporting incidents so that NHTSA can review this potential safety defect and determine whether other vehicles may be affected.
