On 12/19/2025 my car was parked at my place of work between 12pm and 1pm my back window suddenly shattered from the middle of the window. I have seen other reports of Honda HRV having the same issues as well as some other CRV owners from recalls for HRV and online forums of CRV owners reporting the same issue with sudden back window combustion. I contacted Honda and several different departments to report this.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
On December 31, on my way to work driving 58mph on the highway, the car slows down in traffic on the highway and the dashboard lights up. I avoided a wreck, narrowly. I put on my flashers and coast to the nearest gas station. I turned the car off and waited 10 minutes or so and proceed to drive home with the flashers on, the car seemed to be ok and I was 10 minutes from my house then the car slows down again to 7 mph so I drove like that with the flashers holding up traffic praying I'd make it home. It stalled crossing the train tracks but I made it home. I called a mechanic that hooked it up to a device to read the codes and He informed me about the fuel injector and that it was common for the make and model of my HONDA CR-V to have this problem. The cost is exorbitant and Honda should bear some if not all of the cost for replacement.

The windshield wipers do not clear the windshield completely and the reversing point for the drivers side wiper is inconsistent, leaving a wide uncleared gap of varying widths. Honda dealership says this is normal and will no repair the wipers.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I have had all warning lights go on disabled some options, gave me incorrect speed, (i ended up w a speeding ticket over that) made my vehicle go in limp mode ,didn't want to accelerate on highway, could have caused an accident I have a young child and was scared to even drive it. It turned out to be my fuel injectors which was very pricey and I had honda do the repair. I have seen a whole lot of people with this issue with the engine I have which is the 1.5 turbo. I think it should be addressed by honda and they should really be fixing the issue at no cost especially since they know the original injectors were faulty and they changed the part number. Hope it gets addressed on behalf of hundreds of thousands of these vehicles and not so happy honda customers.

I first noticed an issue with my car on October 16th. ALL the dashboard lights came on as if the car had a new battery while I was driving. My Honda dealership said: Explanation: fuel system too rich due to faulty fuel injectors. Repairs to be completed: replace fuel injectors, gaskets, spark plugs All suggested repairs were done because I need a car The cost, $2,557.28 I filed a case with Honda Corporate and they said it was due to my car's age and linked to maintenance. I've always had my CRV serviced at Honda dealerships and my car is only a 2018.

ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Every dashboard light came on. Engine, brake and all the adaptive controls were flashing. The whole dash was lit up and my cruise control and lane assist wouldn’t work. Among other things I’m sure. I want to know if this is going to happen again and what about the head gasket now? Can you do the update/ thermostat on my vehicle since obviously it is defective? The car only has 65,000 miles on it. I always heard Hondas were the best vehicles. This is now very concerning. Please advise.

ENGINE
All warning notices started going off & continuously cycling through all warnings possible for everything. Vehicle suddenly lost propulsion. I was on local roadways without heavy traffic or high speeds but had this occurred on a freeway it could have caused a serious threat of injury or death to myself & other vehicles behind me (could cause multi vehicle crash). This has happened 4 times. This last incident is unresolved. The 1st time at 33,069 miles the dealership indicated vehicle had code P0303 cylinder #3 misfire, cylinder A/F test cylinder #1& #2 failed. Oil on dipstick had strong fuel smell. Replaced fouled spark plugs, oil & filter change. Incident #2 at 33,206 miles had cylinder #3 misfire code, cylinder #2 failed cylinder A/F test. Replaced all fuel injectors with new parts kit including gaskets, fuel tubes etc Incident#3 at 33,699 miles. Cylinder #3 code P0303. Swapped #1 & #3 coil packs and connected HDS laptop, watched Cylinder #3 have misfire counts, removed #3 coil & spark plug, installed pressure tester & inserted boroscope into #3 cylinder & watched coolant run down cylinder wall. Cylinder #3 head out of specification for straightness. Spec is 0.003 & head flatness measured 0.0032. Replaced cylinder head & all related gaskets, o-rings, bolts etc. Incident #4 dealership notified, vehicle needs to be towed to shop therefore no resolution at this time. Information I (owner) found online indicates 1.5L turbo engine design flaw leading to chronic & repeated gasket/cylinder failure issues for vehicles with this engine. Replacement with OEM parts will not resolve. [XXX] Several class-action lawsuits have been filed in the United states & Canada related to this engine/issue. Day after bought car, battery dead and all lights lit up on the dash when tried to start. Dealership gave a 256 point inspection and said car passed all elements. Jumped battery with a jump pack then battery started smoking and leaking fluid. Had dealership tow and diagnose problem, replaced the battery. Two days later started car on a cold day and check engine light started flashing and car went into limp mode. Would not accelerate on the highway past 35 mph during heavy traffic leading to unsafe conditions. Drove to service center at the dealership while still flashing and not accelerating. Dealership said it was a cylinder misfire.

This past year, on 10 occasions, the car misfires and loses power. All but 1 of these occurrences have been on the highway. The check engine light blinks, I pull over, turn the car off, wait a couple minutes, start the car, and the problem disappears. I have had the codes checked by both Honda and my personal mechanic - and neither can find a code that anything is wrong with the car. I have replaced the battery and 4 spark plugs but the issue keeps happening - more so recently as the weather is a little colder now. I am submitting the date of the most recent occurrence - but this has been happening since January of 2025.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact’s son stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle made a loud screeching sound. The contact then noticed that the engine skid plate had detached. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to reattach the skid plate; however, the contact stated that the failure persisted the following day. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact expressed concerns that the vehicle was hazardous and unsafe to drive after the skid plate detached, which occurred following a recent oil change. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. The VIN was not available.

AIR BAGS, STEERING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I was driving my crv and a deer was in the road. I hit the deer going 40mph. It blew out the whole front of my car, my sensors, headlights, both fenders and my hood are dented. No airbags deployed or any sensors alerted me of the object or leaving the roadway. Also when I hit the deer, I lost all steering on that moment. I had to turn off my car and then back on to get my steering to release.

SERVICE BRAKES
The braking system failed. As I was attempting to park my car, with my foot on the brake, the vehicle suddenly lurched forward unexpectedly, hitting the parked car in front of me. Both my vehicle and the parked vehicle were damaged. If anyone had been in the car's path, they would have been injured. My vehicle bounced off the parked car and continued lurching forward while I actively tried to stop the car by applying the brake. At no point during this incident was the accelerator pressed. No warning lights, alerts, or messages appeared on the dashboard before or during the event. Have not yet taken my vehicle to the Honda dealer.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
* Manual and automatic break - both failed. Yes, it is available for inspection. * It was a collision between 2 cars. Our car break got jammed ,it hit other car. * We visited Envision Honda of Milpitas - Honda dealers. For Multi-Point inspection after incident. I have attached the report. The problem was not reproduced by them, but we faced the issue of break getting jammed and automatic break system not working. I am scared of driving my car in future. * Yes, the vehicle is inspected by Honda dealers and Geico insurance. They are not accepting intermitted break system failure. * There were no warning lamps or messages. Just break stopped working. We were driving in snow mode in Honda CRV. It was snowy road. We were going downhill. And the manual and automatic , both break system failed at the same time * The Honda Dealers didn't share EDR (event data recorder) data to us. They charged us 300$ and did Multi-point inspection and handed over the car back.

The windshield wiper stops at a variable distance form the end of the windshield on the driver's side. Sometimes several inches form the edge, not wiping all the way and at times it impacts the A pillar. This affects safety in rainy weather.

Scheduled recall to be looked at, however my local dealership called me the day of appointment to tell me they do not have the part for that and would need to order it and then schedule my appointment. So the person ordered it and then I had to call back to see if the part came in yet. Upon looking at my car on a lift, they told me they would have to charge me to fix the car because the lug nut they stripped looking at my vehicle was stripped. I was not willing to pay them so the dealership sent me home. I called back to see how to fix it and they never offered me an answer. It’s been needing the recall for years since and no Honda dealership is able to fix it.

SEAT BELTS
The drivers front seatbelt latch has failed causing the driver to not be safely secured in the vehicle. This causes the airbag warning system to illuminate a warning indicator malfunction light on the dash display. The Honda dealership has refused to repair the item at Honda’s expense due to them stating the seatbelt latch is not on a recall list for my specific VIN although they did acknowledge that there is a problem with the seatbelt latches for that year model Honda CR-V.

Midway my drive, all dashboards lights started. Took to dealership, they performed A/F Ratio test and “Vehicle failed as all Injectors are running rich.” Dealership suggested I need to replace all fuel injectors and would cost $2000. Found this is an issue with lot of 2018 CRVs but my VIN was not covered under extended warranty that was provided to others CRVs with identical issues.

SERVICE BRAKES
New 2026 Honda CRV, 2 months old, 1,500 miles on it. Total brake failure, no response when pressing pedal. Had to hit curb to stop car. CMBS warnings occurred. Turned car off and back on and brakes started working again. Drove for 10 minutes with CMBS warning. Turned car off and let sit for 30 minutes. Since then, have drove car multiple times for over 10 minutes each time and brakes worked and no CMBS warnings.
