"Sticky" steering. The issue of sticky steering in our 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid Sport Touring is becoming more and more of an issue - difficulty maintaining lane control without constant jerking corrections back and forth of the steering wheel. The concern is on slick road surfaces (i.e., ice, snow, gravel, etc.) of being able to maintain control of the vehicle with the possibility of overcorrecting. After three days at local Honda dealership with approximately 140 miles of test drives, we were finally able to get the service manager to recognize the problem. Once they dug further into the documentation I provided them, they were able to convince a Honda representative that it was an issue in the hybrid version of the CRV as prior bulletins did not indicate the hybrid version was affected. According to the dealership, the gearbox component needed to correct the issue is on back order - they have requested escalation but no ETA. There are no warning lamps or messages.

A known steering problem exists. Honda admits the steering gear box is defective. Dealer has ordered replacement but now Honda states it will be December before parts are available. Thus would be a year for me. Thus issue affect Civics, CRVS and some Acura models. Honda refuses to issue recall. The steering is becoming harder to control and could lead to an accident.

Went to the dealership December 2, 2023 and they came to the conclusion that the rack and pinion needs to be replaced. We are still waiting...

When driving, the steering "sticks" when making a left turn. You have to forcefully turn it back to the right to straighten the vehicle out. It has been doing this for about 6 months, but has progressively gotten worse. The issue was confirmed at the Honda dealer service shop where we purchased the vehicle. They told us it would cost $2,960 to have it repaired. They said it was the electronic steering gear. The car is out of warranty because of mileage, even though we purchased it new in September of 2022. The service rep said he has at least 10 others waiting on the same repair.

November 2023, vehicle steering starting "sticking" when turning the steering wheel. Increased pressure is needed to turn the steering wheel during these episodes. This has been observed at all speeds, not just highway speeds. CRV was taken to dealership in January 2024 where the service department diagnosed it as needing a new steering gear box. We were told that the part would not arrive until April 2024 and were also told that we had to continue driving the vehicle and a loaner would not be given. Vehicle was purchased from Sons Honda in McDonough GA March 2024 we were notified by the service department that the part would now not be available until September 2024. We were still not offered a loaner to drive. My wife is very hesitant on driving this vehicle especially in wet conditions.

The contact owns a 2021 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V844000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened a case. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

When approaching highway speeds, the steering gearbox is binding and sticking so that I have to constantly correct the direction of the CRV. This is a very unsafe condition as the vehicle will not reasonably maintain a straight line. I reported the problem to the dealer, Underriner Honda, Billings, Montana, on Tuesday, [XXX], and they have ordered a replacement gearbox, now "back-ordered" from Honda. The Safety Recall Notice that I have received from Honda (relating to my 2019 CRV) states that the fuel pump may fail and that could result in an accident. Then they state that the replacement parts will not be available until the Fall 2024. A copy of the recall notice is attached. I am concerned that I will be driving a vehicle, for many months, which might cause an accident. It is irresponsible of Honda to not address this issue quickly.

The steering rack per Honda has to be replaced due to a manufacturing defect. When driving on highway, the steering sticks in place causing the driver to have to use force to get it unstuck. Very dangerous.

Drivers seat wobbles and feels unstable. Upon breaking you can feel the seat wobble. It was compared and inspected to another vehicle were same movement was detected based on the dealers service department. No other signs detected. The seat wobbling was detected and first felt 3 weeks after purchase.

At about 6,000 miles I noticed that at higher speed over 40 mph, the steering felt as if it were 'sticky'. Steering felt like it would click and it is hard to keep wheel straight. It is progressively getting worse and makes it so I cannot drive straight without overcorrecting on either side constantly.

I’m not 100% sure but it seems like something to do with the power steering . When turning the steering wheel sometimes it feels stuck in place and needs a little force to free it . If making a turn you can let go and it will maintain the turn. I have tried it with lane assist on and off and it doesn’t seem to make a difference . Sometimes it drives normal without sticking. I’m taking it back to the dealer where it was purchased to have the service center see if they can pin point it. No warning lights or codes are on.

The steering on this car is sticky. This problem started in December of 2023. At that point the car had 8000 miles and it was diagnosed at the dealer. At that time they ordered a steering rack. We returned to the dealer on 1/25/24 and were given 4/4/24 as an estimated time for the part. At that time, the dealer was unable to replicate the sticky steering. On 4/1/24, the estimated time for getting the new part was extended out to 9/6/24. The intermittent problem with the steering is annoying at best and possibly dangerous at worse. We are concerned for our safety and believe that the timeframe for repair/part replacement is grossly inadequate. The dealer was unwilling to provide us with a loaner car until this can be resolved.

At about 4,500 miles I noticed at higher speed over 50 miles per hour a sticky steering wheel. Steering felt like it would click and hard to keep wheel straight. Constant back and forth to keep straight. Took the vehicle into AutoNation Honda Roseville on 1/5/24 with a mileage of 4,841. They determined after driving it that the EPS Gearbox needed to be replaced. This part is back ordered, and I still as of today 4/2/24 do not have the part replaced.
