- #11586346May 1, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
I was driving on the highway at a speed of 65-70 MPH. The car's adaptive cruise control was set and keeping pace. Suddenly, every light on the dash turned on with the adaptive cruise control and lane assist turning off. Luckily my hands were on the wheel and the car didn't leave the lane. Eventually, this was diagnosed and attributed to faulty fuel injectors. This seems to be a common problem with the 2017 model Honda CRVs and luckily for me, ended safely. But if this was my wife or kid driving, it could have ended poorly. I still ask why is the fuel injector issue, which makes the car engine run more rich, connected to the cruise control / lane assist software that can result in a safety problem.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - The system is reading that other cars on my passenger side usually or coming on or off the exit ramps on the interstate as cars in front of me. In turn the system directs the car to slow down and then at some points break hard while driving at highway speeds. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - The technician at the Honda dealer told me just to turn it off as its better to have it off than on. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - There has not been an accident as of current that would warrant an inspection. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - The adaptive showing the car in front, showing the word BRAKE on the mini dash and then you can also feel the gradual to almost complete stop of the car when this occurs. The main place to see is the outline will fill up as if a car is in front, but one is not.

Driving at 35-40 mph the automatic brakes "Panic" stopped. No car, person or animal in front of car. This happened once before but I thought a construction crew on the roadside may have caused it the firs time.

- #11586136April 30, 2024SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, WHEELS
The part that failed is called the "ELECTRONIC SERVO PEDAL SIMULATOR UNIT", aka "SET, BOS ASSM." aka "BRAKE PEDAL SIMULATOR (SIMULATOR SET, PEDAL FEEL)" aka "BRAKE PEDAL OPERATING SIMULATOR". The Honda (OEM) part number is 01469-TPG-A95. The part failure was diagnosed at Buckeye Honda in Lancaster, Ohio, in coordination with the Tech department at Honda corp., and was replaced at Buckeye Honda in Lancaster, Ohio. The Buckeye Honda (service department) said that they had not seen this problem before, so they contacted the Tech Dept. at Honda to seek assistance in the diagnosis. The safety of the vehicle occupants was put at risk by the almost complete loss of brake functions and the interacting functions. At first the Brake warning and AVS warning lights would illuminate on the driver's display, and then they would go off and everything would function normally. But the driver' display warnings got more frequent and the brakes would not function normally. Finally, all of the driver's display warnings would sequence through, one by one, and the brakes were almost entirely gone. The Honda dealer did not give me the faulty part because he said it would have to be sent to Honda. I do not know if Honda America will inspect the part to determine the cause of the failure. I did take a cellphone picture of the part. The problem began approx. [XXX]. I picked up the repaired vehicle at Buckeye Honda on Monday [XXX]. The part was out of warranty by about one month: The "In-Service date" was [XXX]. The mileage on the vehicle was 12,920 miles at the time of repair and I am the original owner. Honda America did give me a "Goodwill" authorization number, in coordination with Buckeye Honda in Lancaster, Ohio, which lowered my out of pocket cost to $l457.73. - #11586232April 30, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
On April 27 suddenly, without prior warning or indication, all dashboard warning lights and all system alerts went off simultaneously. My Honda dealer confirmed today the issue is the fuel injectors. All 4 injectors failed the fuel ratio test. They quoted $2,000 to fix. I negotiated the price down to $1700 as I am just 4K miles out of manufacturer warranty. This injector issue disables KEY safety features of the CR-V's when it occurs. An injector issue should NOT cause safety features of the CR-V to stop working (ex. Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, TPS, Hill Start Assist, Braking, etc...)

While driving, mostly but not exclusively at higher speeds (freeway, interstate, etc.) the steering wheel feels sticky. Usually occurs while gradually turning, the steering wheel will stick in place, and require force to correct and straighten the wheel back to center position. It was occasional at first but now happens almost everytime I drive the vehicle.

My car has 10,800 miles on it. Yesterday as I was driving, I noticed the steering wheel sticking to where it needed extra force to turn it past that point. This is happening at very low speeds and at highway speeds. There is also a click/clunk noise that sounds like it’s coming from under the hood whenever this steering issue happens. Having to force the wheel makes me overcorrect which could make me go into another lane. I’m taking it to a dealer tomorrow. There are no warning lights or messages.

- #11586179April 30, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
While driving in cruise control on two lane roads, vehicle will brake hard during curves and going up rolling hill sections even if there are no vehicles or obstructions ahead. This vehicle experienced an overheated camera system at 4500 miles and was in the shop for 3 months for repair. The above described condition occurred before complete camera failure made all safety features not function. So it could be a camera failure is beginning again, or there is an inherent defect in camera or software that powers the braking.

I purchased a brand new 2023 Honda CR-V last year which currently barely has 14,000 miles on it. I took my vehicle in for routine oil change and also because my steering was "sticky" or at times would jerk your hand off the steering wheel or if you are not holding the steering wheel tight enough when it jerks it will pull the car into another lane. The service department called and told me that it was a tire issue not covered by warranty and that I needed to pay them to balance and remount my tires. When I gave push back that if it was a tire issue then it would occur constantly. They had someone drive it again and then called me back and told me my rack and pinion/steering was going out and that the part was on back order with an unknown ETA. They were going to let me drive my vehicle off the lot until I told them that I didn't feel safe doing so because the problem was worsening. Today almost 3 weeks later I still do not have my vehicle repaired and was told that the part may not be available until September 2024.

- #11586113April 30, 2024LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
Regularly receive loud alarms and errors when putting the vehicle in reverse that the Lane Departure Warning system has failed and to see dealership. Error will last for around 10-20 seconds and then disappear. One dealership tried to apply a TSB directly associated with this issue which failed to fix anything. Dealerships have no idea what is causing the issue and are unable to fix the issue. The contacts wife took the vehicle to the dealership on 4/19 and left the vehicle for a week. The dealership is unable to determine what is wrong with vehicle.

The steering on my 2023 Honda CR-V sticks and impedes my ability to smoothly turn the steering wheel as I drive. I currently have 7500 miles on the odometer. The steering issue has become progressively worse since owning the car and the "sticking" has reached a point where I no longer feel that the vehicle is safe to drive. On [XXX], I took the vehicle to the Honda dealer (Joe Morgan Honda, 176 Garver Road, Monroe, OH 45050, 513-360-2700) where the sticky steering issue was confirmed and the inspection indicated that it needed immediate attention and replacement of the power steering was warranted. There were no warning lamps to indicate a problem. The power steering gearbox and rack unit was placed on back order with no indication as to when the part would be available. Follow ups to the dealer and American Honda Motor, Inc. have not yielded any satisfactory results with them stating that the part continues to remain on back order. Case number issued on [XXX] by Honda is [XXX]. In the meantime, the car remains in my garage, unsafe to drive. At higher speeds the hood shakes and bounces up and down. I have adjusted the hood bumper stops but to no avail. I have to slow down as a result so I don't damage the hood.

The steering on this vehicle became -?sticky-? and requires extra force to pull it from the center position. This little bit of extra force causes overcorrection of the vehicle making it unstable and unsafe. Dealer wants $3500 to fix a premature and unsafe electronic steering issue . Vehicle has not been crashed or damaged in any way. i have contacted American Honda but they will not fix the problem, answering( sorry, but your vehicle is out of warranty) . Problem has been reproduced by dealer, no warning light on vehicle.

When driving, the steering wheel feels like it is catching on something. It will hit a sticky point of resistance then it will break loose. Most noticeable while highway driving. It is constant and does not go away. 04
