The top of front grille broke off at 70 mph, struck the windshield then the fixed antenna on top of the truck then into traffic behind me all doing 70+ MPH across a one mile long 2 lane bridge with no place to avoid the debris. The failed part endangered myself, my family and anyone traveling behind us. No one has seen the remnants of the event/ issue but The part was approximately 2ft long and 8 inches wide. The truck has a top piece that sits between the hood and the top of the grille. The part is gone but one can see the broken clips and flimsy plastic. The previous year model of the truck had a recall opened earlier this year for the same problem but not my truck. Multiple forums online report the same event as mine occurring on multiple model years.

I have taken the vehicle to my local dealership six times. The tailgate started opening and the headlights were blinking on and off. This happened 3 months after I bought it. The dealership told me they changed the tailgate switch and they said there wasn’t anything wrong with my lights. Two weeks after the dealership said they changed the tailgate switch, the tailgate started opening and closing. The lights also stopped working driving down the road at night. This happened 3 different times at night. The tailgate opened when I was pulling a trailer and it caved in and I had to pay to have it repaired. The dealership said it wasn’t their problem. During this time the power steering fluid was leaking under my steering wheel and ruined my carpet. The dealership has yet to acknowledge that problem. I still have to put power steering fluid in the truck every week and my interior is ruined. The tailgate is still opening on its own. I had to start charging my batteries up every morning because they were dead. I got up one morning and the batteries were dead and the truck wouldn’t start. I had to buy a new $300 key. Took it back to the dealership for an appointment. The truck sat there for a week and I called for an update and they didn’t even remember the truck was there. It still sat there 4 days after that. They told me the truck needs new batteries and it wasn’t under warranty. I spent $1000 on 2 batteries. Tailgate is still going down. The lights are still going on and off. And then the lights and the locks will go on and off while the truck is parked and turned off. And now the new batteries are becoming weak and I am having to get the truck jumped off several times. I have had the truck at the dealership 6 times and they still haven’t fixed anything. When they have my truck I am losing money because I am a business owner and I use my truck for work. I lost all of my tools. I have lost time and money because the dealer has yet to help and do their job. I need help GM

- #11691552October 6, 2025ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 80 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost power, the engine began knocking, and the vehicle began to decelerate quickly until there was complete engine failure. The contact was able to coast to the emergency lane on the side of the highway. After the failure, several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure. The vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that the engine was replaced. However, with less than 3,000 miles on the new engine, the knocking sound reoccurred while starting the vehicle and while the vehicle was idling. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure and determined that the engine needed to be repaired, but confirmed that an engine replacement was not covered under warranty or recall. The manufacturer was informed of the first failure; however, they were not informed of the latest failure. The failure mileage was approximately 117,457.

Engine developed a clicking sound. Took to dealership and was diagnosed with rod and bearing damage requiring an engine replacement. Was fortunate to have inspected before engine failure while driving. No warning before the failure. I believe there is a known issue with the 6.2 L engines.

GM has identified my vehicle as having a problem "If the engine fails during vehicle operation, the vehicle will lose propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash.". It has been almost 6 months since this issue was identified and yet GM has failed to address the issue in my vehicle. I believe this problem should be immediately corrected and if it results in my or my families injory GMC should be considered grossly negligent for their failure to promptly correct the issue.

When putting the truck in reverse it did not go, then suddenly squealed the tires and engaged reverse. This happened 2 days in a row. On the 3rd day, it would not go into reverse at all and had to be pushed in neutral from a parking space to be able to drive forward. At that time, it was at first jerky but did go forward. Subsequently, I did not drive it until my appointment with the dealership and I was able to put it in reverse.

Just purchased 2022 GMC Sierra elevation with 25,000 miles on it. The undercarriage is completely rusted and makes a terrible ticking noise. I have read that there is recalls and issues with this on a lot of of the trucks.

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign number: 24V797000 (POWER TRAIN), and the dealer performed an interim repair on the vehicle. In March 2025 the part was available, and the recall repair was completed. The contact stated that on one occasion, while driving at an undisclosed speed and then coming to a complete stop, the vehicle jerked and the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. The message “Low Power Mode” was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle then failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact drove to a parking lot and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to Don Moore Chevrolet GMC, where it was diagnosed with transmission control valve failure. The contact was informed it would be months before the repair could be performed. The vehicle was towed to another dealer, where the transmission control valve failure was confirmed, and the contact was informed there were metal shavings found inside the transmission. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

- #11690794October 1, 2025ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC), PARKING BRAKE
The contact owns a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35-40 MPH and hauling a trailer in stop-and-go traffic, there was white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe, and the vehicle started losing power. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road, where the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The parking brake was engaging and disengaging independently. After turning off the vehicle and waiting for approximately 15-20 minutes, the vehicle was restarted, and the contact drove to the nearest independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the ignition coils needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, it was determined that the repair had not resolved the failure. The mechanic then diagnosed the vehicle's cylinder #4 failure. The mechanic was in the process of determining whether the lifter or camshaft had failed. The mechanic determined that the engine might need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

- #11690818October 1, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
On Monday, [XXX], at about 1730 hours was traveling Southbound at 45mph on [XXX] approaching the [XXX] intersection. Vehicle alerted to the following codes on the dash; ESCAPE, Traction Control, Check Engine Light, Brake System Failure, "Do not exceed 62 MPH". I took foot off accelerator and looked up and noticed the traffic light turning red. I applied pressure to the brake and noticed there was no brake pressure at all, and the vehicle continued to roll forward towards the intersection. I put the truck in low gear to slow and continued to pump the brake rapidly. As the truck gradually slowed I turned truck off until it came to a stop. When I restarted the truck the brake hydraulic pressure returned and only the check engine light remained on. I took the truck to Reliable GMC in the Roseville Automall the next morning. The service department claimed the AGM Battery was bad and caused the front brake caliper sensor to throw a low voltage code causing a cascade event of codes throughout the system. The loss of my brakes nearly caused me to enter an intersection unwillingly and could have led to a serious accident. OTA update GM N25-250380 caused significant problems. Blinker tone and other safety tones are erratic. Infotainment system is erratic. Constant reboots while driving causing distractions. Camera screens will freeze on screen while driving down interstate. It may be affecting other systems as well since everything is erratic and buggy now.

The vehicle has stalled on multiple occasions while driving/shortly after driving, creating a serious safety hazard. On one occasion, GMC arranged towing because the truck stalled down the road and would not restart. GMC and the dealer have been notified each time. Since June 2025, I have repeatedly sought completion of Recall L87 and repair of the stalling condition. The dealership has declined or failed to complete the recall/repair, citing staffing issues and later claiming they did not have the correct oil. This recall was announced in April 2025 and my truck has been to the service center many times since, at one point it was there for 2 weeks and yet no one can help me with the issue. The truck was in the dealer’s possession for approximately two weeks without repair of this in July of 2025. GMC Customer Care initially indicated a buyback could be considered, then later stated they cannot review for repurchase due to a stop/sell hold on L87. see attachments! The stop/sell hold now prevents me from selling or trading the vehicle, leaving me with an unsafe and depreciated truck that GMC and its dealer have not repaired. The truck is also approaching three years in service, which heightens my need for prompt resolution. These facts satisfy “substantial impairment” and “failure to repair within a reasonable number of attempts/period of time” under Louisiana Lemon Law (La. R.S. 51:1941 et seq.) and constitute breach of warranty under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. The repeated stalling establishes a safety defect, and the extended time out of service and inability/refusal to complete the recall meet statutory standards for relief. This put my son, myself and other in direct risk and is continuing without the proper resolution.
