At approximately 61,500 miles, the engine malfunctioned while cruising on a 4-lane highway at 45 MPH. The problem was diagnosed by an independent mechanic as a crankshaft rod bearing failure. This failure happened despite all recommended maintenance being performed with specified parts. This failure caused a safety concern as the vehicle was in motion at the time of the failure, increasing the potential for a collision due to the vehicle becoming disabled on a highway. The engine was replaced at a cost of approximately $13,500 parts and labor. Vehicle was out of service for two months due to a waiting list on replacement L87 engines.

I received a new engine. Went in 8/15 - 9/10. Truck was dead on 9/22 when State Farm sent out a guy to replace the windshield that came back broken from the dealership. I had put in a new battery on 4/17, before I even knew about the recall. I got the battery out and replaced under warranty from AutoZone. Before we connected the 2nd new battery, my friend checked the oil...just for fun. There's barely any oil on the dipstick. Service guy told me I'm checking the oil wrong, that it needs to be running for a while, so that's why it's reading low. Okay!!!! LOL. 7 days later, truck was dead again. Last week, 10/21, I'm told by GM Customer Support to Not have it towed in yet until I hear back from a senior advisor, after telling her my long winded story. She said it would be within 48 hours. 72 hours passed and nothing. Supposedly I'm receiving a call at 12:51pm today, yes that's correct, that's literally what they told me when I called in yesterday. I'm having the truck towed in today, 10/29. I continue to be jerked around, ignored, lied to from all angles of GM. My truck has been inoperable and/or unsafe to drive for over 6 months now, costing me all of my income from my 2 jobs that require my truck. GM needs to be held accountable.

On October 23rd at approximately 0900-0915 hours I arrived at a friends house located at [XXX] . As I normally do, I pulled up into the driveway which has a pretty significant incline. I shifted the column shifter into park, and turned off the vehicle via the push button ignition switch. The parking brake/hill brake system automatically engaged as per normal operation. I exited the vehicle and before I could shut the door, the vehicle began to roll backwards. The driver's side door hit me in the right shoulder which pushed me to my left and caused me to roll my left ankle due to the down slope of the driver way. While I felt immense pain in my right ankle, I was able to jump back into the truck and slam on the brakes, causing both rear wheels to lock up and skid in the driveway. I then turned back on the vehicle, noting that the transmission position was still in park, and the parking brake/hill brake was still engaged. I had to disengage the push button parking brake/hill-brake, shift the vehicle from park into drive to move back up the driveway. This time I ensured that the vehicle did not move after following the exact same steps. My truck under went an approximately 30 minute software "upgrade" approximately 2.5 weeks ago. I believe there was an issue where the park sensor did not fully engage, leading the vehicle to believe it was still in an operational gear, however it does not explain how it was able to not only over-ride the parking/hill-brake itself, as well as allow me to shut the vehicle off and exit the vehicle. This safety hazard has caused me an injury that has already caused me to miss 48 hours of work (I am a federal firefighter) and will require more missed time should surgery be required. There were no warning lamps, the backup camera was not engaged, the only audible sound was the beep that the vehicle makes when engaging the parking brake automatically. My engine has a loud knocking/ticking noise. I have had one mechanic look at it. He has me taking my truck to a dealership this week. He believes the known issue with GMC's 6.2 engine is taking place in the engine in my 2019. From a verbal conversation with the dealership, they believe the same. I was advised to complete this form ASAP.

While towing a trailer on Highway 77 in northern Wisconsin, my 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 experienced a sudden engine failure. The dashboard lit up with alerts for the engine, transmission, ABS, and traction control. I safely pulled over in a 55 mph zone with narrow shoulders and heavy truck traffic due to nearby road construction. The truck lost all power, and I had to block the driving lane to transfer the trailer to another vehicle, creating a hazardous situation. There were no prior warnings or issues. The truck had regular service at independent shops, and I had checked and topped off the oil that morning. Lahti Towing & Service recovered the vehicle, changed the oil (no metal shavings), and replaced the camshaft sensor, but the truck still wouldn’t start. They then towed it to Rhinelander GMC, where a broken timing chain was diagnosed, requiring a full engine replacement. The vehicle is currently at Rhinelander GMC and available for inspection. I have photos of the dashboard alerts and data from the GM app documenting the incident.

The check engine light went off and started blinking. The engine started making ticking noise. I pulled over. The check engine light kept blinking. I had the truck towed to the Chevy Dealership. They found damage to the lifter and camshaft. They had the truck for over 2 weeks. Luckily I purchased the extended warranty. But the repair still cost me 1,200.00 dollars out of pocket. And cost the warranty company over 9,000.00 dollars

On [XXX], at approximately 15,873 miles and while on the freeway approximately 30 miles from my home, my GMC Sierra 1500 with the L84 engine experienced a failure of the DFM lifter assembly. This required a significant engine disassembly and the replacement of multiple valvetrain components. This repair was performed at Gold Rush Chevrolet in Auburn, CA, as documented in the enclosed service invoice. GM has issued Technical Service Bulletins and product communications addressing similar lifter failures in Gen V small-block V8 engines with DFM/AFM, including Service Update N212353840, PIP5776, #19-NA-219, and related updates. Industry coverage and owner reports and current Class Action Lawsuits indicate that these failures can recur, even after initial repairs, due to the high cycling frequency of the DFM lifters. Given the nature of the defect and GM’s documented acknowledgement of the issue, I am requesting that GM extend the powertrain warranty coverage for the engine and related valvetrain components for a period of 10 years,100,000 miles as a goodwill policy adjustment. A warranty extension would ensure customer confidence and protect against the significant cost of a repeat failure. SuperCruise Repeatedly crosses Double yellow lines even with on coming traffic. Sometimes with SC active it will make an auto lane change but halfway through it will randomly swerve into either lane, or just simply turn off without warning. It started happening after a software update in May of 2025. We have provided GM and the dealership with Video evidence, along with the dealership mechanic replicating the problems. GM states that SC is operating as intended and that we are not to bring the truck in for service for that issue again. they denied buy back twice now.

Tick sound coming from underneath. Also fumes smell. Dealership found it to be the exhaust system. Said the muffler valve is bad. Quoted me $2000 for repair. Never heard of a exhaust system failure in only 5 years. Very unsatisfied with this.

- #11695954October 27, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
My vehicle is equipped with multiple safety systems offered by general motors. Since purchasing my vehicle new, I have had a persistent and recurring issue related to the vehicle safety system, which is resulted in numerous collision detection and advanced cruise control service is not functioning as designed, creating safety issues for both myself and potentially other motorist on the road. Additionally, the parking sensors are not working as expected, presumably due to the same issue, which has resulted in numerous safety concerns, including the detection of vehicles or objects, which were not present, resulting in the systematic breaking function engaging posing a risk to myself and surrounding motorists. I initially reported the issue to GM on 2/20/2025, when the vehicle had 467 miles on the odometer. Since the issue initially began, I have returned to the GM service department at my local dealer a total of seven (7) times. The local service department has been in contact with GM corporate office related to the issue, however, they have been unable to rectify the issue and continue to send the vehicle back out on the road claiming the issue has been resolved only for it to recur shortly thereafter. I believe that GM providing the safety features in an inoperable state poses great risk to the general public, and the NHTSA should investigate this issue alongside the other active systemic issues GM is currently under investigation of. At this time, it is unknown what is the cause of the issue, multiple parts have been replaced, and the true cause of the issue has been undiagnosed.

The vehicle had 26,000+ miles and tread depth was over 4/32nd. Front tires were replaced. On 21 October 2025 the tread separated from the left rear tire 90 percent of circumference and the tire ripped open. Vehicle had 27,600+ miles on it. Traveling near McLoud, OK on Hwy 102? at about 50 mph on smooth road. Rear two tires replaced on 23 October. These two tires are in my possession for inspection, tread depth was 4/32nd and 5/32nd. Claims have been submitted to insurance. Picture of 2nd incident attached. These two incidents indicate to me that these tires are defective and should be recalled. Failure has been verified by GMC dealer and Walmart. There were no warning lights either time.

I heard a ticking noise coming from the engine compartment. I took it to the dealership that I purchased the truck from and that have been using consistently for service. I was told that the noise was coming from a lifter on the driver's side of the engine and, on further investigation, it was determined that the camshaft had been damaged. I was told that it could seize up as I was driving and that my safety and those with and around me would be at risk. At 85,000 miles, the engine had failed and would have to be replaced. There was no prior warning or no check engine light and the vehicle has been in for oil changes and all maintenance at the dealership. The new engine cost me $15000 including diagnosis and towing.
